What's the best thing an AC game never had?

I'm talking about things that were teased or discussed, e.g. in promotional material, but never made the final product of a game because they were cut, but that you would have liked a lot. Could be anything: story-related, setting, gameplay mechanics, weapons/gear, etc.

I thought the crossbow in the AC1 trailer looked really cool and I would have loved to use it, but at the end of the day I understand that they wanted to maintain historical accuracy by scratching it. Besides, we got the crossbow again in later games.

Tonal Dissonance regarding Enemies vs Player

I recently finished playing Bloodborne. One of its strengths is the sense of place it strikes the player with, making them feel like a sensible part of its world. One major way it achieves this is a kind of logical consistency between enemies and the player, specifically a consistency between enemy mechanics and enemy aesthetics. What I mean is, the way enemies are presented artistically fits the way they're presented mechanically. Let's look at this in greater depth. All of the enemies in the game verbally interact with the player in very believable ways.

so like, the next one's supposed to be in japan, right?

based on the black flag concept art that has currently accurately predicted two out of three settings for the following three games, Japan is next. Tokyo, to be precise.

So whaddya think of that?

I feel like we've gone through different eras of narrative tone based on the setting, with the crusades being grim, renaissance being boisterous, colonies/north america being swashbuckling adventure, and the latest northern european stuff being heavily inspired by your standard period piece film and television stuff.

[Series] | Eliminate Loot Randomization

(Taken from Calvar's "Weapon Durability" Thread so we can keep THAT thread about Weapon Durability and transfer Loot discussion here.)

weapon durability makes sense in a stealth game

because it provides an excuse for stealth takedowns being treated like ammo rather than an unlimited ability, gives you a reason to try to get in and take out only your target and maybe a few folks in your way, and gives you a reason to eventually need to run from combat no matter how good at fighting you are.

In games where direct conflict is the only option I understand why people dislike weapon durability, but in this case it just makes stealth more powerful and seductive: you feel like you are subverting a system and playing smart.

DAZ | Syndicate [Nebelungen Bboy] GMV Progress Thread

Hey guys. I was inspired by hamps19's Assassin's Creed music videos to start making one of my own, for AC Syndicate.
For Brotherhood, hamps19 used WAR by DJ Pablo. So I listened to all of DJ Pablo's tracks and the one that really jumped out at me was Nebelungen Bboy. I started visualizing in my head what a hamps19-style AC vid would look like with this specific track, and I eventually made this. This thread will be for me documenting my experiences making the full video with the full song, and basically a place for me to look back on once I'm done to see all I learned along the way.

Dear Assassin's Creed: Fix Your Damn Controls
by Kirk Hamilton

Saying that Assassin’s Creed’s controls are bad is like saying Donald Trump is a boor or San Francisco is too expensive. Everyone agrees it’s a problem, no one’s quite sure what to do about it, and most people either cope as best they can or avoid the situation entirely.
