As this being my first video, I wanted to do something unique. Unfortunately, since I have missed the golden age of THB, I couldn't really find anything that hasn't been done before. Until I looked around blitzing La Touche. I found out that Fed981 speed-ran AC Unity, and the La Touche mission with the ultrablend cheat. Ultrablending doesn't work anymore so I decided to pull an anonymous blitz without. After that didn't work I just blending anonymous blitz with stealthy extermination. Hope you enjoy. Might not be the fastest possible, but just giving out a blur of what can be done.

Arno's lost his hot redhead girlfriend, he's drunk and hungover at the exact same time (don't ask), and very, VERY pissed off. The cops guarding this cathedral made the worst possible mistake they could've made: standing in his way.

There must be a viable handhold at the spot Arno impacts, and the timing window for it is roughly like a Sword-Counter from AC1.
A video on the philosophy and meaning behind the ledge-grab / catch ledge ability in the Assassin's Creed franchise, its importance and why it matters so much to the people who miss it, capping off with explaining how to actually perform this move in Assassin's Creed Unity. I think this move should be brought back, as should at-will side ejects and at-will back ejects. Movement is lifeless and stagnant in the new Assassin's Creed games, and for a franchise about transcending the arbitrary rules put forth not by gods, but men, new AC Movement "Systems" make me feel more like I'm painting inside the lines than breaking out of social norms and flowing through an environment as I see fit.

Took a while to put this together because I got a lot of requests for this. I'm pretty sure all of TheHiddenBlade veterans will know about these already, though. Just posting here so the site gets this content. I did leave out certain items and abilities because I found them largely irrelevant to my own gameplay, but there might be some kind of follow-up vid where I collect additional information. We'll see how it goes.

Assassin's Creed has always had a strange relationship with its movement mechanics. Either they're complex enough for those craving depth to enjoy, but obtuse and frustrating to learn for newcomers, or they're simple and controllable for all players, but without much of a potential cap or skill ceiling to reach for when you get bored of the basics.

AC Unity is an interesting game because whenever you bring it up, inevitably there will be people who say how much they enjoy just wandering around the open world. And as someone who’s now done a fair bit of that for stress relief and for video purposes, I’ve done some thinking as to why.
Unity has more problems than any other game in the franchise, to this day. Ask a bunch of different people and you’ll get different answers as to whether the game is “fixed” or not. For some people, performance issues remain, for others, bugs are still very much alive, and for others still those things were never really their concern, but rather the problems inherent to the game that can never ever be repaired, and we just have to live with. As someone who struggled just to find a way to eventually appreciate this game for all the dim light I saw deep down in its broken shell, I can’t look away from those problems, but as the person who did learn to appreciate it, scars and all, I have to make note of its positives. You hear that? You feel it? That’s called character-development.
Unity is at its absolute best when it evokes a certain feeling. When a player can say and truly mean, “As an agent of the Assassin Brotherhood, my awareness of my surroundings borders on superhuman, and I have a Response to every possible Situation…” This feeling of player-ownership, of responsibility over your gameplay, of being accountable for your successes and failures, is why people love Unity the way they do.
Another video is coming up that talks about Advanced Movement in Assassin's Creed, how it ties into collectibles, and how it should, and finally, ways Ubisoft can teach advanced gameplay in future titles that make them more interesting for newcomers and veterans alike. See you then.
