So my wife's boss just won the Nobel Prize this morning for Physiology/Medicine... that should at least look good on all future letters of reference.
Also, this means I've played tennis with a Nobel laureate... and might have peed in his pool.
God dammit, McStab.
(Congratulations. I bet it was a nice pool :3)

Yes... it WAS.
Is that a giant golem with a chainsaw?
Btw, that would make a good rockband name.

No, but you're right.
That's the 3rd enemy in Shadow of the Colossus on PS2.
RUN, JOEY! AGRO! AGGGRRROOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
Hey Joey, see that giant plate on the ground?
Hey Joey, see that giant plate on the ground?
I beat this game like 5 times when it came out. ;D
Ohhhhh. Good stuff haha.
So I was on Facebook and found this.
MORNING TALKER: A Halloween prank in Oklahoma put neighbors in a panic. A man decided to get “gruesome” this Halloween with his decorations. They feature gravesites and ghosts up in a tree in his yard, but the real shocker is the fake dead body in the driveway. The dead body is placed in such a way that it looks like the garage door crushed its head. The fake body even prompted a 911 call in which police and firefighters responded. The man was told he wasn’t breaking any laws and will continue to keep the phony body in place. In fact, he added another body that appears to have been run over by a truck.

Part of the comments were saying this was going too far, while the rest either said it was cool or bashed those who said otherwise.
The comment that stood out to me the most:
"Get over yourselves. Its Halloween. No worse than a fat guy sneaking down a chimney to steal your cookies and milk."
So this just happened (Thank you to JoeyFogey for reblogging the post on Tumblr and letting me see it, and thank you to Flutterwhat on Tumblr for MAKING the post to begin with <3 <3)
That video wasted almost an hour of my time. The player doesn't know anything about the games. This is the kind of thing I mentioned a while back: the people that get early access to these games hardly ever know anything about them. They just play it for the job while viewers cringe in pain down to the deep levels of the soul at their awful skills.
1. They don't know how to properly finish off an enemy ship.
2. Whenever they free run, they keep tapping X (similar to how you sprint in games like Grand Theft Auto), causing them to fall off buildings at improper times.
3. They don't know how to block (they repeatedly tap the grab button, causing Edward to throw every enemy; worst fighting I've ever seen in these games).
4. He didn't know how to navigate a viewpoint.
5. He can't drive a pirate ship without crashing it into the tiniest islands.
Overall, this player button-mashed his way through 50 minutes of what would probably take one of us 10 minutes maximum. I feel like you should pass a test to get involved in early access demos like this. I hope we get a video that shows a good player for once...otherwise you'll just have to wait until I have my copy.
I'll go test my self-control. Let's see how long I can go without watching this.
Hey. I played the demo at FanExpo. I was freaking sick.
I finished in like a fifth of the time everyone else did.
I just y'know. Wasn't allowed to record it.
But I totally agree with you, there should be something to show - if not that they're good at the game - that at least they CARE. He did exhibit some clever uses of the blowpipe during the last two minutes, which I liked.

For those wondering, there doesn't seem to be any major spoilers in the video. He talks over most of the dialogue anyways.
However, watching him play through the assassination contracts gave me ideas on the livestream nights we hopefully will have.

Thanks Joey. I may watch now.
So one of my biggest college loans was dropped. Now I only have to worry about one loan (until I go back to school next year). I'm saving probably $5,000 or so. This makes me very happy; especially since I've given up on that Scotland trip as well. Mo' money, less problems.
I'll go test my self-control. Let's see how long I can go without watching this.

Okay then, my self-control lasted only a day.

Okay, you guys weren't kidding when you said this guy doesn't know how to play. And he definetely doesn't know a lot about the games in general. When he passed a pile of leaves, he said: "What's this... hmm.. oh, look, you can hide in these!"
Also, when checking the upgrade menu, he first realized that the protagonist is named Edward.
I am having a Nostalgia section and I am playing now Ocarina of Time.
For anyone that played, remember the part you have to sneak in the castle to find Zelda? Well, I guess playing too much AC made me more bold in this part, doing crazy stuff with the guards blind spots, stuff that I never would imagine doing in a Zelda game, lol.
I guess AC games make your perception of Stealth better anywhere.

Record it, record it.

Believe or not, I am playing on a true Nintendo 64! I saw a person selling it for 45 Reals (roughly 23 dollars), so I decided to buy it.
But I can try it on a emulator. If I do, I will try to make it entertaining.
I wonder if there is some other games we could apply AC logic on it. =P
It's not AC logic per se. It's just messing around with the rules of the game. I've done the same in thing in Dishonored, resulting in tricks that save ~1.5 minutes on a well-executed speedrun of that game.

Let's use the term "Hidden Blade Logic" then.
Because, to be honest, I never imagineted to try to find exploits on a game for fun and entertainment before I knew about your guys.
So I was walking around in ACB when some guards were being held by vigilantes. At first I though they were after me, but then noticed I was anonymous. Then they started attacking one of the vigilantes.

After they eventually killed him they walked away.

Well that was a good weekend. I went to a late Halloween party. Like last year there were awards for the best costumes. This year there was an award for the scariest, most Halloween original, coolest, funniest and overall best. Mine won almost unanimously for the scariest of course.
As you can see, my outfit gets an upgrade.
And in case you don't remember the one from last year.
Also found a picture from 2011.
Somebody brought a Micheal Myers mask and plastic dagger over. And since I didn't have a costume then I asked if I could wear that. Apparently someone else brought a wig.

Wow, that's awesome!
I never thought I'd call someone an "anus chapeau", but I'm happy it was Phi that got that honor.
Never thought I'd get the honour of calling you a "culo sombrero", but glad it happened.
Pretty much the greatest thing on earth to happen all week.
Get a room, you two!
That awkward moment when you realize that two people who you thought to be the same person are actually, well, two different people. It's happened to me before, then about a week or two ago at work someone said they mistook me and a new coworker as the same person until they saw both of us in the same room.
I'm shameless, I swear
fantastic editing. i LOVED 0:42 - 0:48
I guess we are really getting in the spirit of Christmas.
Wouldn't it be funny if Santa was a Templar?
Wouldn't it be funny if Santa was a Templar?
AC4 Spoiler
you could have figured that one out on your own.
Did you see this? I'm personally not someone who buys AC merchandise, but this thing is pretty sweet.
Dear Santa,
This year, I only have one wish.
- A functioning Animus.
That's all. Please don't disappoint me. I've been really nice and stuff. I'm looking forward to exploring the lives of my ancestors.
Best regards,
Jeroen.
AC4 just gave me the biggest scare ever. I fired up the game, chose single player and the only thing I saw was:
- Start new game
- Start new game
- Start new game
Nononononono where is my savEFILE!!! Panicking like a madman. All my work gone? It can't be.
Then something hit me: "Have you tried turning it off and on again?" So I exited the game and launched it again and thank God it was there and I didn't lose anything.
Anyway, this experience was close to ending up in the rant thread.
My heart stopped when I read your post. I feel ya.
Seeing that was terrifying. Backup your save to a USB or something anyway, just in case.

How do I do that? I rather not tamper with savefiles, I'm not comfortable with that. Probably because I lost a career in Fifa once by messing with that, trying to change player stats. In GTA games I always double saved my main game, but that's not possible in AC.
I'm so incredibly burned out from video games. I have absolutely no urge to play anything, yet there's nothing else to do now that I'm snowed-in with my house. WHAT DO I DO WITH MYSELF??
You get a Rubik's cube and learn how to speedcube.
How's he going to go get a cube if he's snowed in his house?

Thank you.
Well I'll be getting my art tablet later today...I just want to learn how to use it and start making art again. Soon...
you could, i dunno, READ A BOOK!
I can email you A Song of Ice and Fire... that should take you the rest of the afternoon at least.
