Assassin's Creed Unity (PS4 Pro)
Memory: The Fall of Robespierre
Style: Lethal / Reaper / Stealth Kills

Arno Dorian is at the end of his patience. After failure after failure to catch and assassinate the Templar Grandmaster Germain, he finally tracks down Robespierre to a building that is being held by Templar guards. Dorian's fury makes itself known. He intends to have a productive conversation with Robespierre, and there's no way in Hell he's letting even a single one of his protectors interrupt their chat.

The Temple (Assassinate Germain)
No Kills, No Detects, Blade Only

Arno Dorian and Elise de la Serre move to confront their mutual enemy, François-Thomas Germain in a veritable Templar fortress. As the treacherous Templar Grandmaster is overcome with the mind and memories of Jacques de Molay, Arno moves into the castle, knowing there is no time to waste. While Arno can see no weaknesses, he is a far greater Assassin than he once was, and he knows there must be a way forward. Many of Germain's guards have no clue as to the true horrors of what lies inside the Temple, and killing them would only waste precious moments.

This memory is straight-up oppressive to an impatient player, or someone who's very quickly trying to figure out good routes and how to get to where they need to go. A long time ago I made a "Non-Lethal / Target Only" playlist for Unity, and when I got to this final mission, I was unable to do so. I was unable to do so because back then, I couldn't find a way to beat it without killing anyone, and that's why the video you see for this mission in that playlist is just "The Temple -- Lethal Stealth Speedrun". It was the first time I was pushed toward experimenting with stealth kills, rather than just going non-lethal all the time. (I almost religiously stayed away from producing content that had Murder in it for quite a while, because I loved the badassery of Ghosting/Pacifist play.)

There are no crowds here. The entire fortress is a restricted area. There are hiding spots but moving between them is crazy difficult, and there are gunners on just about every single rooftop that matters. Getting spotted is a death sentence here unless you have somewhere you can immediately run to, and doing all of the above without killing or KOing a single guard is pretty damn difficult.

The Germain boss fight is actually one that holds some very cool ideas. You basically have a Rogue and a Knight fighting back against a Mage, but all of them are appropriately Shadowy characters because... well, because this is Assassin's Creed. Germain either has Eagle Vision or some Fragment of Knowledge due to having Aita's DNA, which means he can actually scan for Arno to flush him out from behind cover. The Sword of Eden that Germain possesses attacks via electricity-based abilities and phenomena, like the Lightning Bolt AoE he can strike you with if you don't run away after his Awareness Pulse. Germain cannot be defeated via Combat or Ranged Weapons. Shooting him with Projectiles will just cause him to say, "A waste of my time..." Trying to hit him with a sword will, as far as I'm aware, not damage him at all, though he will take about three strikes' worth of hit-stun, after which the Sword of Eden will fry you.

What this all means is that the only way to defeat Germain is through Stealth, which is really, really cool. This is one of the few Stealth boss fights I've played in games, and it always feels super rogue-y to have a boss fight like this. Sadly, it's not terribly deep. You only need to Assassinate Germain three times for the fight to be over, and there's very little variation in tactics necessary. Nothing changes between each strike, he doesn't get new abilities, the arena doesn't change in any way, and the cooperation between Arno and Elise is superficial at best, barely affecting gameplay at all. She throws a Smoke Bomb for me once to save my life, which felt pretty cool, but that's about it.

As I played this memory quite a few times to get the footage for this, I realized I actually really enjoy it. I might go back and do more content on this at some point, depending on what seems interesting to me.

Game: Assassin’s Creed Unity (PS4 Pro)
Memory: Le Roi est Mort (Assassinate King of Beggars)
Style: The Hidden Blade / No Tools / No Detects

Arno Dorian has no need of extraneous devices or gadgetry. One blade, one Assassin, against the King of Beggars’ entire “royal” guard. Many of the King’s subjects stand in vigilant defense of their sovereign. It is not enough; as if by a phantom, Regicide is carried out.

Assassin's Creed Unity
Memory: The Kingdom of Beggars
Style: Ghost / Non-Lethal / Flawless

Goal: Finish the mission without being detected, without killing anyone, and without knocking anyone unconscious. A phantom. A bedtime story the guards tell themselves at night, a myth. Nothing more.

A long time ago I'd made a video of this, but it got deleted for some reason, so I decided to make a more interesting version that uses more of Unity's mechanics. Next up is Ghosting La Halle aux Bles, which was surprisingly easy to figure out for a mission that seems so intimidating.

Leo K here, to pick these videos back up before Syndicate. This is the worst-designed target in the entire game. Everything that is broken about Unity is exacerbated by moving Arno indoors, and the worst interior areas are the sewers/catacombs due to their lack of possibilities. As a result, I do multiple checkpoints/record multi-segments for this one. It's very possible to do this entire mission in a single pass, but it is difficult as many things can go wrong that have little to do with the player's input. Cutscenes removed and video edited for maximum viewer enjoyment.

As the annotation says, you only need one Smoke Bomb to climb the column in the final area of the escape.

Assassins Creed Unity Sequence 5 Memory 2

Speedy Stealth Kills

The rules are simple. Spend most of the time from the start of the mission to the end running and killing along your route to the target, using only melee kills and whatever tools are necessary.

This run is started from the haystack in the southwest corner of the area. From a reload, throw a smoke bomb to the upper right (too far left and other guards come to investigate). Kill the guard by the haystack either from the haystack or jump out and stab while he's walking towards the smoke bomb cloud.

The next two guards are still reeling from the smoke bomb, so take them out quickly. A nearby archer can easily spot you if you aren't fast enough.

Next are four other guards. With proper timing (too soon and the smoke bomb doesn't reach them, too late and they see you), another smoke bomb aids in killing unseen. Note that the enemy on the very right is non hostile, and part of a scripted speech.

On the other side of the stone fence is a guard who is usually in range of an air kill and another guard who isn't close enough to detect that kill.

Now we have a a brute under a gazebo and, whoa! I call this kill the "grabbing from above This Person is Really Awesome kill". Actually the ledge kill in Unity has been modified so you can pull guards from the side of a ledge as well as from under, usually from the side of a window. But in this case, Arno performed the assassination from higher and farther away than should be possible.

As requested by LuckyJaguar on Youtube.

Trying for the same style as the Marie stealth kill. Basically choose a fast route to the target and take out any guards along the way, while not being fully detected.

In this case start out running to the left of the building to avoid confronting large amounts of guards. The two posted guards won't react fast enough to block a quick double assassination. The patrolling high level guard in the courtyard will have his back turned. Inside are four other guards, two posted in front of the stairs, one patrolling on one side of the room, and the other guard on the other side. Throw a smoke bomb to avoid being seen and get the posted guards. The others might not be close enough to waste your time on.

Once you're upstairs, disguise will help if you're not patient enough to blend. You won't come under suspicion for throwing smoke bombs as long as you're in disguise. Taking out the guards there isn't necessary unless you want a completely stealthy mission. I decided to just assassinate the guards in between the target and me.

What differs from the last video is that I used disguise and smoke bombs, but still didn't use ranged kills.

Assassins Creed Unity Sequence 9 memory 3 Hoarders Marie Lévesque

I was going for a variety pack, but things were taking too long. I hope you find this interesting.

Stealth Infiltration of Parais Luxembourg

If you're fast enough the guards can be dealt with efficiently on the way to the target. From the last checkpoint start with treading the wire leading to the building and take out the rooftop gunman while his back is turned. The next two gunmen up ahead start out close enough for a double kill if you didn't lose any time.

Climb up higher, head right and get in through the open window. Go into the small room and quickly kill the guard posted outside. As you move on, two other guards patrol the hallways. Move fast enough and you usually can get them both at a window, although sometimes the game randomizes their locations.

Kill the brute from a corner and berserk the gunman on the far side of the target's room. The target will flee from the conflict. You can beat Marie to her waypoint using the stairs. Just watch out for the brute patrolling in and out of the room and any other guards patrolling around that area.

Now when Marie runs in there you can get a kill without being seen, especially by the guards who are still following her but from a distance due to her running. The way you came has been cleared of guards, so that could make a good escape route, although I haven't tested it.

Assassins Creed Unity Sequence 8 Memory 2 September Massacres Rouille Assassination

Silent Rooftop Extermination

A method for assassinating every enemy on the rooftop during the mission without being seen.

Gunmen in the tower- the fast easy way is activating the optional cutscene, which kills both guards. Two other ways are ledge assassinations or sneaking up from behind.

Patrolling brute on platform- Either kill him when you're out of sight of the other nearby platform guards (after killing the guards in the tower) or ledge assassinate.

Brute and gunman on one side of the roof- Wait until the brute stands near the other guard for a double assassination or double air assassination.

Guards on other side of roof- Wait for the patrolling guard's back to be turned to quickly assassinate all three of them. You move faster crouching than walking.

Remaining guards- This part used to be tricky because one of the guards and the target are facing each other. However it has been discovered that shooting Rouille once with a berserk dart prevents him from seeing you. This helps a lot in sneaking around that particular area unseen. Now you can just walk up the steps and assassinate that guard, as well as the "sleeping against rail" guard.

Target- Thanks to the berserk dart trick, Rouille is in a state where his AI has been put on hold. If you perform some actions on him such as tackle or attack, the berserk affect kicks in shortly afterward. But in the meanwhile he doesn't notice you, not even if you're fighting enemies in front of him.
