An open thread for users to let it out if you're a type-ranter. Usually people use other topics and break the mood if it gets too serious. This is for the really serious times.

I made this because I was told I have a possibility of having an aneurysm if I don't relieve stress somehow and I hold a lot back. I'm that quiet, nice kid in every class who doesn't express themselves publicly a lot. Well, this is a negative consequence for people like me. I just gotta cool down and do whatever helps me.

I hope you guys use this thread for well-deserved purposes like not having a stroke at the age of 20.

I'm the same. I can't release hate at other people, but it eventually leads to me having suicidal thoughts.
I just can't hate others though. I feel the rest of humanity is too good to do that to them, no matter who they are.

I have that mentality where I have to treat others how I want to be treated. That's why I'm so nice. haha

So is this thread ranting about ACR or anything in particular? But right now it seems we are talking more about our feelings.

Well I can hate others (for some time at least) but won't try to release that anger at them. Seems I'm on the same page as you guys. Smile

Joey, the best way to take out that anger/rage is working out. A punching bag and some gloves will do more to releasing that on an inanimate object than finally losing it on somebody or finally becoming a health hazard to yourself.

I wouldn't put it that way, Aurel. I'd say it was a thread about anything stressing or bugging you to the point where you have to rant. That includes AC-related topics, such as everyone who lost to me today in multiplayer (I finally got to play for the first time in 4 days).

I've been working out when I can, GB. Finals are coming up and have been making every one of my teachers decide to pour tons more work than usual on me and I've been stuck doing that the past 2 weeks, along with the Thanksgiving holiday, instead of working out. Now that I'm getting time, it started snowing, and I am not walking across that huge icy parking lot to come out an hour later trying to keep any sweat from icing over my body.

Here's what to eat, Joey:

Oranges - for the vitamin C.

Sweet potatoes - for the carbs and sweetness which everyone craves when they're under stress, but also packed with vitamins and beta-carotene.

Apricots and Spinach - for the magnesium which is a natural muscle relaxant.

Almonds, Pistacios and Walnuts - Almonds for Vitamins B and E which help boost the immune system and the other two for helping to lower blood pressure.

Turkey - for the tryptophan.

Salmon - Omega-3 fatty acids help protect your heart, but also help to control stress hormones.

Dark green vegetables (like broccoli, spinach, kale) - vitamins galore.

Eat smaller meals more often rather than a couple of large meals, as that will help to keep your blood sugar more stable. Allow 2-3 hours after a meal before trying to sleep, so digestion can complete.

Sad but true, most people need to train themselves to relax. Try to give yourself some quiet time in the evening before going to sleep. Quit studying, have some herbal tea and just sit and try to empty your mind. Consciously relax.

It'll get better. Smile

work out- just go for a jog every once in a while

laugh- i laugh a little tooo much

be a d*ck for a day- let it outta your system

if none of these work well.....masterbate.....

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which

You're such a mom. XD

Well...I'm able to eat a tiny bit of green vegetables. I wasn't able to bring any turkey from Thanksgiving like I wanted (greedy old parents!!!). I'm always working on homework into the late hours of the night because finals week is almost here for me. My stomach has gotten extremely small since I entered college. All last year, I got so used to not eating for days on end and still function, so I can't eat large meals unless I force it down.

From all the advice you've given me, I'm unable to do almost any of it. Sad

That only calms you down for like an hour or two.
Try to find something that you love doing and do that.
For me, that's writing. I write about my sorrow, and its power leaves me and gets transferred into words. It doesn't hurt that people always love what I write too.

I know that's hard to do in school, I'm in school too of course.
Honestly.. School is the worst/most stressful environment anyone will ever go through in their lives.
I earnestly believe that, no matter what else anyone says.

Well, what I do when I'm very stressed out is pick up a foldable chair, about 1 1/2 liters of ice tea, and an MP3/iPod/radio or whatever it is I have that plays music at the moment and go up to the rooftop of the building I live in. I think that going to a little secluded place where you can just contemplate on things below you while having a cold drink is very relaxing, although you guys are in winter right now soo...

Either that or sleeping in a hammock. Actually, try the second one if you ever get the chance.

Well I'm considering moving away from the midwest to someplace warmer. I hate the cold so much. I've been offered Hawaii (same island as Stabby), but I think that's TOO warm and out of the way. Holly and I are on good terms again and offered me some seclusion at the end of next summer in her town in the southern USA if things work out. I've been whining about my current habitat since high school, so maybe I should take this as a sign. Bleh.

I'm sorry if I'm coming across really badly here, but that's unnecessar. Little harm is going to come from your blood sugar rising and declining a bit, provided you don't have diabetes or something.
Other than that, nice post, although I don't think the tryptophan contents in Turkey are high enough to make you even relax.

Joey, here you can find some more indepth information on diet.

I'd have more opportunity there. If I went to Hawaii, I'd just have a new place to be with almost no connections. Holly's sister and her husband told me they'd try their best to help me get started, but it's easier to not go there. Besides, they live right next to a beach and it's always warm anyways. Your peculiar analysis of me is still valid, though.

Sometimes I feel really guilty about feeling bad about myself because other people's lives are surely much worse and they're still happy. Sometimes I tell myself everyone experiences pain in different ways, but I think that's just a half-assed excuse to feel sorry for myself.

I would agree. The turkey/tryptophan connection has been greatly exaggerated. Lisa's dietary advice sounds good, though. White meat turkey is better for you than many other sources of protein.

You won't even feel the blade.

I have never shown any anger at anyone, and I have yet to explode in private as well. Either I am bottling it up to the extreme, or I just happened to hit a calm balance. I usually spend less time gaming and more time researching things, mostly science stuff but also philosophy and other spiritual stuff.

Every 3rd weekend or so I got to my parents place ( im also 20 studying in the city) which is out in the countryside. One thing I realised that I have always hated throught my whole life is that I cant turn off the lights outside. I can rarely achieve complete darkness. I dont consciously hate the city, but at times I really wish our whole social paradigm was different.

When i go to the countryside it is so peaceful and quite, at night I can see the stars much clearer due to less light polution, and at night it is actually pitch black. Also as a bonus my parents have internet and a computer that can record sound ( and food!!!)

You just reminded me of it. My roommate says it ALL the time whenever he's playing a game or watching me get hit once in a game ("HAA!!! He raped your face!!" "I got hit once and just killed him...?" "Yeah, but he got you good."). I live with that. O_o

But I just take it personally. It hits a nerve when I hear it. Usually I just brush it off, though.

Not completely true. I had a blast in Manhattan when I was there last month. Times square and Broadway were absolutely amazing (I was there on business but still had time for sightseeing and entertaining clients). However, my grandfather grew up in Queens until he joined the army and eventually went to NYU on a baseball/basketball scholarship (he was the #1 ranked point guard in the state of New York out of high school). He would always tell me that living in Queens was like living in a war zone. He was always worried someone was going to jump him, and he got in fights with other kids on a weekly basis. He even beat up his girlfriend's father (she eventually became his wife and my grandmother) because he was abusing her entire family. Manhattan is wonderful, but outside of that it's not a very safe place to be (granted my grandfather grew up there in the 30s/40s but apparently it hasn't changed much).

Also, for a rant thread, there hasn't really been a good rant yet. So I'll do the honors.

This f*cking #OccupyEverything movement is really starting to piss me off. I went down to Wall Street while I was in New York to give the idiots a piece of my mind, and I was absolutely horrified by how popular this thing is, mainly because 99% of them (please, tip your waitresses on the way out) don't know what the f*ck they're talking about. My chief complaint is that the protesters are trying to be the new wave of hippies and are against the 1% and big corporations. Well hold the f*cking phone, your whole movement is staying alive through social media, and who do you think runs all of it? BIG F*CKING CORPORATIONS, THAT'S WHO. Your pictures are all being taken on cameras or phones made by companies such as Nikon, Nokia, or Samsung. Your TV and/or internet is provided by companies such as AT&T or Verizon. Your social networking sites Facebook and Twitter are companies in their own right (Zuckerberg is the world's youngest billionaire, obvious 1%, yet his site is still being used by all of you). You're all giant contradictions wasting your life away in tents. And I understand some of the police violence against you has been unnecessary, but you're all just a huge inconvenience, and it's not like you're innocent either. A few weeks ago one of these idiots took a massive dump in the middle of the lobby of an office building where my friend works in protest of the 1%. Are you kidding me? What the hell does that accomplish? It just makes you all look even worse than you already do. For movements to work you have to be active. Screaming in the streets about how you want more money from people with more than you while you sit in a tent and get high off your ass accomplishes absolutely nothing. The sooner this joke of a protest ends, the better. It makes everyone involved look subhuman, idiotic, and pitiful.

I am pretty ignorant of the whole thing, but what exactly is the protestors solution anyway? imo the whole system has been integrated so much that most of these people wouldnt know what to do or how to think without it.

Only solution I can think of off the top of my head is to vote in a party that taxes high income earners at a much higher rate.

Anyway I just looked at the latest south park episodes and the next one im up to is called 1%... this should be fun to watch!

As for a rant, before i start how strict is this site when talking about marajuana?

Really, noone under the age of 18 should read what follows.
I'm going to outright say it:
The occupiers are full of shit. Seriously, they know jack shit about economy. Other than 'hurrr greedy corporations durr', the don't have any arguments, they don't posit any solutions. They're just a bunch of whiny kids and that pisses me off to no end. And then this 99%/1% bullshit. YOU'VE GOT PLENTY OF FOOD, GODDAMMIT! Just look at all the children in third world countries. They don't eat ANYTHING for DAYS.
To all occupiers: shut the fuck up, nothing good's going to come out of your mouth anyway, because you're fucking stupid.

What's even worse are the occupations in my country. I live in the Netherlands. Jesus Christ, those people are even more retarded than occupiers elsewhere. We've got:
- FREE HEALTHCARE
- FREE EDUCATION IF YOU WORK FOR IT
- A STATE THAT PROVIDES IF YOU CAN'T WORK

What the flying fuck is your problem? You're just lazy idiots who refuse to let yourselves get educated because that involves work.
And then there's this 99%/1%-crap which is even more retarded than in America. The Netherlands are one of the countries with the smallest difference between poverty and wealth. Furthermore, poor people appear to be happier than wealthy people. YOU HAVEN'T GOT A FUCKING THING TO WHINE ABOUT, SO SHUT THE FUCKING FUCK UP AND WORK, YOU BITCH.

Yes, I mad.

THIS TOPIC IS %*$#}\%R> AWESOME!11!1!

FLAE and Phi: I'm more sympathetic to the Occupy folks than you are, but you both make excellent points. Plus, MAD RANT SKILLZ!!! Beer

The Occupy movement is pretty darn confused and one idea they can't seem to wrap their head around is that half of their issues would be solved if they would just get off their asses and VOTE. In the U.S., we routinely have under 40% turnout of voters (and that's for a BIG election), which is truly shameful. If everyone would just vote, we'd definitely have a country more to our liking. Duh.

I just don't vote. I would if I had any faith that our leaders would be how we all want them to be, but they won't. If I had an opinion, I can say that Ron Paul looks to be a guy I'd vote for. His policies seem alright, but I need to know how he is a person. Everyone else is idiotic and don't belong to leadership roles at all. Herman Cain ruined his image a while ago. Obama can't get reelected because his fire is out. This election is going to be tough since they're all just awful.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which

If only instead of changing the layout countless times they focused on bringing back the vote by stars. That would end the miserable thumbs up/dislike bar jokes everyone is so obsessed about.

Just don't read comments.

I listen to Dubstep a lot on YouTube and those tracks have some of the most annoying comments ever. "REPLAY BUTTON 0:00", "The dislike bar is the length of Justin Bieber wiener!", etc. I just don't read the comments anymore.

That's what I've been doing for a while now. The community is annoying. I liked the star system though.
