Bernardo is very cautious. He'll start running if he sees you at all. The leap of faith makes it easy to rapidly enter the courtyard stealthily. Approach from behind to avoid detection.

A place to sleep
All of the wells in AC1 were just props. This one isn't.

Air Assassination
Climb up to the planks when Bernardo is on the other side of the courtyard. Use the planks to screen yourself from Bernardo's view as he approaches.

Stunt Assassinations
A low-lying courtyard surrounded by tall buildings? There is a lot of opportunity to pounce on Bernardo from above. Ironically, I can't manage to pull a stunt assassination from the nearby tower... I land in the haystack instead. You might have better luck.

Stunt Jump to Air Assassination
This is a stunt jump, but Ezio lands on a box, not the ground. From here he can pounce on Bernardo with a mini air assassination.

Jump, Roll, Drop, and Double Assassination
Jump from the roof to the roof of the store down below. Roll off the roof to land next to Bernardo. Most of the assassinations in this video can be done as double hidden blade assassinations due to the close proximity of Bernardo's bodyguards.
