Actually I've been reading "The Fault in Our Stars" by John Green (a fellow Hoosier) and I'll be reading "The Inferno of Dante Alighieri" (Dante's Inferno) after I'm done with the former. Both were recommended by the lady. Other than those, I mostly just have art books without any more paper left in my sketchbook, so there's not much left to do besides that.

I'm still pretty bed-ridden at the moment from the flu that's been plaguing my body for almost a week now. My voice sounds like Charlie Brown's parents. No joke.

Love The Inferno. My number 1 most read book. It's especially good if you have the one with footnotes on the people involved and other politics of Italy when written. Don't stop with Inferno though, read the whole trilogy.

Essentially, to boil it down, Dante gave a big F--- YOU to politicians and other public figures of the time and placed them into a version of Hell based on what he considered their sins were...

Or you could just read it for the fun/disgusting imagery... but it's not as fun when the author is listing all his public rivals, and you read who they are and why he doesn't like them.

A week, yikes! The flu has never affected me for more than 24 hours, and I'm happy to say it's been a few years since my last time, although this New Years Eve I had a bad headache and had to go to sleep early.

I've been sick for 8 days now... pretty sure it was the flu... would have healed sooner if it weren't for two 5 hour plane flights to deal with in there, too. Tongue

Yeah, actually it was my lady's personal book, so there's all her notes she wrote down next to brackets she made for each section along with bookmarks for significant entries she liked the most. That's what you get when you date a librarian...

I'm actually getting better now. I just have a headache, back ache, and my throat is itchier than a cactus with a rash...yes I made that saying up.

Oh and this is what I'm working on with my tablet:

This may be a little late, but did any of you get what you wanted for Christmas? I got one thing I wanted the most: A tripod for my camera.

I didn't until today. My girlfriend got me Man of Steel on DVD. Everything else was just loose-fitting clothes and a McDonald's gift card. That sounds like an exaggeration, but it's not.

My brother also got me a very warm, very nice hoodie.

I got a 3DS and Pokémon X.

Yes... I play Pokémon Battles competitively. It's best RPG Metagame I ever had, despise me not caring too much about the franchise like I used to, I just like the battles and the mechanics.

I got Pokemon Y some time ago, I greatly enjoyed it.
I've never gotten into competitive Pokemon Battling, it's not for me.
I love watching/spectating though. I love seeing people's strategies and the Teams they put together.
Pokemon is almost like a Trading Card Game (Magic: The Gathering) in that regard.

A big part of the strategy is Team building.

this is unrelated to anything, really, but it's something i've been thinking about recently.

it's said that history is written by the victors, so why do we ony hear the american side of the Vietnam war?

Oh good! I only play competitively, but I do have some For Fun teams. So, sometimes I take thing seriously, others I just fun.

I do enjoyed Magic in the past.

I'll post my Friend Code here in a bit, once I feel like looking at my 3DS Tongue

I just want to talk about how my birthday went right now.
So I'm 20. Woo. Pretty awesome. I ended up pre-ordering Thief 4 and paying it off completely with the money I got for my birthday. The girl I have very strong feelings for took me to see The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, and now I understand why she was freaking out about Tauriel and Kili (Kili had been my favorite Dwarf since the first movie, Tauriel is her favorite and was added in - she wasn't in Tolkien's original novels).

She also gifted me book 1 of the Night Angel Trilogy, which is about assassins, or 'wetboys' ("A wetboy was like an assassin - in the way a tiger was like a kitten.") and their influence on their dark society. It's awesome.

"an assassin has a target, because assassins sometimes miss; wetboys have deaders, because their days are numbered" ... or something like that.

I need to read those.

Are there ebooks for them?

"A deader is dead. Not a week from now, not tomorrow, right now. A deader is dead as soon as you accept the contract. Do you understand?"

In the world of the Night Angel Trilogy, for a wetboy to be called an "assassin" is an insult. Assassins are just skilled killers. Wetboys are assassins with the Talent, a special brand of magic that allows them to curve shadows around themselves, among other things. Wetboys are much deadlier than an assassin could ever be, and the best of them all has not been close to dying even though every other wetboy wants his head. (Because he's the best.)

Nice to see my name more, or at least a female version. Actually Tauriel would probably be the female version of Auriel.

They used the word "deader" in the movie R.I.P.D. also. It's basically Men In Black set in the afterlife. Deaders are like escaped souls who return to Earth to be among the living. The Rest In Peace Department are cops (also dead) who must apprehend the deaders and return them to the underworld. Or something like that. I wasn't really paying attention.

Instant credibility to any review to end it like that.

I think I saw a commercial or two for RIPD... something about making their appearance be someone else to the living? Like an old lady or something?

Not a bad idea. Get through the game fast killing as less as possible and getting the least points possible. I'm assuming that's why he waits till the last possible second to finish the level.

I remember using the same trick at 7:15 to scale a wall.

Yeah. If you finish with any time on the clock it's points.

Only place to drop the score is the gap he kills the goomba for. I'm sure he tried a ton of things to get that without a kill. Oh well.

And the trick you refer to at 7:15 is great.

After the horror of a flying Legendary Ship, I met the scariest predator ever in AC:L's bayou. Thank goodness it's dead.

I wasn't sure if I should fight it or evade it, so I ran up a hill but it followed me there. During the QTE battle, Aveline was on the ground and the alligator was floating above her.

I just sat down to play some AC4, loaded up the Animus and... it was over. *roll 20 minute credits* I was expecting a legitimate Sequence 13.

This was a "methodical" playthrough by my standards: 100% every mission, collect all chests and Animus fragments, fully upgrade the Jackdaw, etc. I still have some Contracts and Templar Hunts to do and I'm saving the Legendary Ships for last.

It doesn't matter if I finished before or after TMA. That's the lamest competition ever: who can finish first in a five month old game. ha ha
