So, I have a video 18 minutes long that I'm really excited to post onto Youtube, but there's a 10 minute limit for regular Youtube users. Does anyone know a way to bypass this, or maybe I can just post it here so it's an exclusive to THB?
It's 15 minutes now for regular users, I'm pretty sure it is. You might be able to trim it down a bit?
i frequently edit slow parts of my videos to double (or 4x or 8x) the playback speed in order to maintain viewer interest and shorten the video. i use wmm, which has a double speed video effect that can be applied multiple times to get 4x, 8x, etc.
Well since I attempted my first upload, it's been unable to be edited, as the video has been totally blacked out. It still has the audio to the entire video, but you can't see anything but black.
Also, I have the entire movie file as a separate save on my computer. If I try to edit it from there, then the audio is cut into clips along with each video clip. Long story short, I can't edit the video unless I take out some of the best parts of it. I made sure to put each scene as close to the music as possible, so that's another issue.

I use WMM as well. I guess I can try to speed up the audio as well? Would you know if that's possible? I haven't tried it.
im not sure which version you have of wmm, but in all the versions ive seen, the video and audio get edited together unless you make specific efforts not to. among my 130+ videos, ive edited the video and audio separately only twice.

I'm not sure which one I have either. haha
I know it's one of the latest versions, though. I just thought of an idea. I'll be back tomorrow with results.
P.S. I got that capture card today...having installation problems, though.
Do I need to upgrade higher than a Dell Inspiron B130 laptop? 'Cuz that's what I have to work with. (Anyone can reply to this comment. It's not specifically directed at Ian because I quoted him...but Ian, reply if you know! )
Looking at the specs for that laptop, you might have some lag whilst recording, but there are probably ways around that.
Put your most intresting parts of the video in the beginning, then split the video into 2. All the professional You-tubers use that to get more views. Though there are two parts, consider it this way.
If you have 1 video:
You might get 10,000 views on it
If you split the video into 2:
You may get 10,000 views on the first one
and >500 on the second
That's not always going to happen, but its still a respectable way to get views.
That's a good idea Draco. I already used Ian's advice and fast forwarded specific parts that could've used it, but I'll try your idea with my extra copy I luckily have saved on my computer. I'll just pick whichever one turns out best. Thanks guys!
<3 I've been a bit too lazy to make any videos nowadays.
Ugh... I just uploaded it and one of the songs included in it has a copyright issue, so it's muted throughout the entire video. Such a let-down.

Haha my name on there is joeyfogey55
I never bother with music for that reason, but when you do put music go to audio swap and you can use any of those songs without copyright.
Although in one of my GTA videos a song was playing on the radio and I got done for copyright...
I ended up using the audio swap. After all this, it's just not as good as it could've been. In its full 18 mins or so, everything is in sync and perfect. Such a waste.
Make 2 vids, each 9 minutes. Who the heck wants to watch a 18 min video..
sorry to hear that joey. its a pain to sync the audio, so its a real shame to lose that work. i recommend doing a test upload in the future when music is involved. i used to recommend searching for the song on youtube, but sometimes new instances of the song are not permitted, but existing ones are. i recall stabguy having that problem once.

funny you mention it. my longest video was a whopping 20 mintues long, representing something like 25 minutes of continuous gameplay (certain parts accelerated). i cut it into 2 pieces, part 1 was 8:43, part 2 was 11:00. based on views, i estimate about 2 out of 3 viewers would continue watching part 2 after seeing part 1.
Hey, I would've worked it so that I left a good "TO BE CONTINUED..." ending to the first one! I was just too lazy.

Yep. I wanted to use "I'm Too Sexy" by Right Said Fred for Desmond's table dance at the end of the Digipens video. That song is all over YouTube but it wouldn't let me upload it. I ended up going with "Simply Irresistible" by Robert Palmer and re-editing the dance to match the new music. It's too bad because the original music worked better.
Like Ian said, do a private test upload of a song before spending a lot of time synchronizing a video to it.
Thanks guys! I think I'll try 10 mins or less next time, just in case.
I remember looking at a few of Ian's older videos. Did you use a regular video camera in your early days? DISCUSS!
yes. i started out by pointing a camera at my tv, which still remains the fastest, easiest way to get a gameplay video onto youtube - at the expense of video quality. i averaged 1 video every other day for about 100 days while using the camera, which would not have been possible if i had used a dvd recorder instead. my pace has slowed down a lot since then, and i take greater pride in a more refined presentation, so i switched to the dvd recorder on oct 15, 2008 - over 2 years ago now.
on that note, my dvd recorder is virtually dead, which is why i havent released a new video in a while. i'll have to figure something out soon for acb.
