What kind of music do you like? Post the music genre(s) you like and post a song.
I like a mixture of a lot of stuff, but it's all centered around Jazz/Fusion. I really enjoy this cover on one of my favorite Chick Corea songs, by Al Jarreau.
Oh man. I listen to... just about any style minus rap and death metal. Been on a soft rock kick lately, though.
I have an interesting theory about music. I really just love any sort of instrumental. I don't have a favorite genre, it just matters to me if it sounds good.
As a result, I'll listen to anything from Old School Rap to Rock n' Roll to stuff like "Clubbed to Death." The only place I've never touched is the metal section, and never will. I played a slayer song once to piss off a group of hippies, that was all.
I'll give you an example. Because I have yet to find anyone else on the site that actually enjoys some form of rap music I will post the instrumental to one of the new Cyprus Hill songs, "Armada Latina." The bass in it is awesome, and the "do do do do" bit in it I think goes nice with everything else in the song. Makes it a little more cheery, if you will:
I like that, FLAE. Sounds really cool.
Bands that I've been listening to a lot lately:
Pinback
and
Calexico
Along with Ray Lamontagne, Josh Rouse, Janove Ottesen, and James Morrison. Also throw some Barenaked Ladies and Our Lady Peace into that mix. And I was actually listening to Jack Johnson when I first saw this topic.
I've also really taken a liking to a band called Falling Up, specifically their album Captiva.
I think my music taste is very similar to FLAE's, I too listen to a wide variety of genres, but with a bit more emphasis on club music or house music, I love a lot of bass.
I'll listen to pretty much anything. From really obvious "pop music" (although I hate that general term) that's in the top 10 to less well-known stuff. I will admit I love Eminem
I will admit I love Eminem
The only two artists I listen two regularly are The Killers and Eminem. Recovery is probably the best album ever

For me that title goes to either
Dedicated to You - Kurt Elling
or
Waltz for Debbie - Bill Evans.
Here's the title tracks for each.
I could say I listen to pretty much anything. Yet, if you ask my favorite it would be between Power, Folk and Rock. My favorite band Cienfue, its little band from Panama which mixes traditional folk instruments with some seriuosly tunned guitar. If you have heard about them, then you know a hell lot about music, if not, then its pretty much like this

Yeah Relapse and Recovery are just brilliant

I haven't been able to get Won't Back Down out of my mind.
I like all types of rock and roll, from the British Invasion of the 1960's (The Beatles, The Kinks, etc.) through today's modern rock. I have a soft spot for punk rock. It used to be that you had to go out of your way to find music by The Sex Pistols and The Clash. Now with pop punk bands like Green Day, Blink 182 and The Offspring, I get to hear punk on mainstream radio.
Here's a favorite track from a short-lived pop punk band named Fenix*TX:
I will post the instrumental to one of the new Cyprus Hill songs, "Armada Latina."
I liked this song the first time I heard it... when it was called Suite: Judy Blue Eyes.
I've recently become a big fan of "Poets of the Fall", their music is just epic~
"War" and "Carnival of Rust" in particular are awesome, can't get enough of it~ xD
You can listen to their stuff here~

Or watch their cool music videos here... x3

stabguy, I think we're long-lost siblings! I enjoy all the same things and Suite: July Blue Eyes was a real kick in the pants. Oh man I loved those guys so much.
I have to brag and tell you that I was at the Sex Pistols last live show in San Francisco.
Found this incredible version of Autumn Leaves. I always play this song at clubs in a medium swing style but this is lovely.
I hope to God that no one has said Justin Beiber so far. O__O
As a metal-head/classical fan, people like him make me... itchy.
As a metal-head/classical fan...
So you like heavy metal and classical music? A friend of mine in college said, "My two favorite musicians are Ted Nugent and Yo-Yo Ma." I think he was kidding.
Who are some of your favorite bands/composers?
Yeah, it's odd right? But I do! I think it might just have to do with the melodic qualities or keys or something, whatever the musical term is. I've seen a bunch of people on the internet who claim that if you like metal, you LOVE classical!
My favorite metal band or whatever is Demon Hunter, and for classical, gotta love Mozart and those other guys like John Strauss, Tchaikovsky, Bach, Verdi...
One of my favorite artists ever came from way before my generation, and my father knows almost every one of his songs. He would sing them all the time around the house when I was a kid, and as a result I have grown to enjoy the music of this man that I still keep discovering.
I'm talking, of course, about Frank Sinatra.
Yesterday was the anniversary of my high school football team losing in the first round of the state playoffs (don't worry, we won next year). Battered, bruised, and pissed off because we were certain the officials were against us, I went home and vented to him about the loss (he had been in attendance). After a good discussion, he went off to bed whistling the tune of a song and singing a few bars. It was catchy, but I never figured out the tune of that song.
So yesterday I was messing around on the PS2 and playing Tony Hawk's Underground 2 (which actually is an extremely fun game if you ever get the chance to play it) and after beating it in record time watched the credits scene. All of the sudden, I began to hear the same tune my father had whistled 10 years ago to the day, and the same words. The song, I later found out, was Frank Sinatra's "That's Life," which was perfectly appropriate for the time my dad had been singing it, I should have guessed it was a Sinatra song!
Anyway, isn't that crazy? Ten years to the day I finally figured out the song he was singing that night. I think it's pretty wacky. Anyway, it really is a great song, here's the link. Take a listen if you've the time:
I'll go Rock. Mainly Classic (mostly 80's) and Alternative (mostly 2000's) with a little bit of Punk and Soft.
Just listen.
That was lovely, Patrick. Thanks. In my book, sheep + cute kitten + charming brogue = Win.
Ahhhh, this is one of my most favorite songs that is staggeringly beautiful. Plus, when someone manages to use a word like "phantasmagoria", you know you're onto something good!
Haha. No problem It's a cover of one of Elton John's best songs but, dare I say it, I prefer Ellie Goulding's version.
It has become popular because it's on a Christmas advert over here in England (for John Lewis) and I have to agree with whoever chose it that it has a great Christmas feeling about it. Once I'd played it on Youtube about 10 times, between last week and now, I realised I needed to share it and download it too
I like electronic music, techno, electro, trance.
I like stuff like Papa Roach, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana (oh yes!)
I kinda like Avril Lavigne, and like, two of Lady Gaga's songs.
Cascada. DJ Manian.
Evanescence.
Eminem.
I also like soundtracks from games and movies. A lot.
I remember one time I spent so long listening to the Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift soundtrack.
Man.
I think I'm gonna go look up some of those right now.

YEEEHHHHHH!!!
6 Days is also really cool.
Holy sh*t Ian, Nuttin' but Stringz is amazing.
Agree with FLAE. Someone needs to hire these folks to create the scores for video games!
broken sorrow is my fav song from nuttin but stringz. my son mentioned that it sounds like the aftermath of a war. victorious, yet saddened by loss. this interpretation reminds me of ezio.
this is their most popular song:
Ah, you're gonna hate me
I like lighter stuff like My Chemical Romance and Paramore.
But I also like Extreme Metal like Lamb of God, Amon Amarth and Bring Me The Horizon.
I just got tickets for MCR, so I'm pretty happy atm
Most of my music is centered around the Funk department. I'm a bass player, so, yeah, Larry Graham is definitely on the list. I also like Muse, RHCP, Stanley Clarke and stuff like Funkadelic. Strangely, lately I've been getting into DubStep. I think it's the fact that new sounds are used, like Muse does.
I don't like Metal or any other electronic meaning at all, really.
Have you heard Rivers of Avalon by the Red Hot Chili Peppers? It's a B-side, meaning it's unreleased.
Also, He's a Pirate is Amazing. If you have the capability, listen to this with Max Bass and as much Volume as you can take without being EXTREMELY loud. I love it.
Actually, I haven't heard that one. I thought I had all B-sides. This is from around Californication/By The Way, probably By The Way. Am I correct?
I've got a bunch of unreleased RHCP songs on my computer.
Among them are a cover of Castles Made of Sand, Joe, Quixotic Elixir, Fat Dance, Easily, Stretch You Out, instrumentals of Scar Tissue and Californication, some jams and more of that stuff nobody's ever heard.
Listen to it on YouTube or something, it's really good.
And yeah, I'm pretty sure it's from around that time.
Yeah, I already did, that's why I knew it was from around that time.
I mainly like alternate and punk rock... its a lonley genre. really.

Yeah, cause no one else in the entire world likes Green Day or Nirvana.
BTW Green Day are pop punk and Nirvana are grunge.
Anyone else like Rihanna? Pathetically "mainstream" but I'm absolutely obsessed
Yeah, cause no one else in the entire world likes Green Day or Nirvana.BTW Green Day are pop punk and Nirvana are grunge.
They used to be Punk Rock, and they kidna still are. Nirvana is of course grunge, but I was refering to one of the Offspring's songs as being alternative
Listen to this while you play your game
or if you are more hardcore this one isn't bad
Here's something to counteract that "Friday" monstrosity (thanks a lot, FLAE! j/k).
Been listening to a TON of Lupe Fiasco lately. Since LASERS dropped a few weeks ago its been the only thing playing in my iTunes Library.
Favorite of all time is still Daydreamin' from Food & Liquor though:
My two favorite songs from LASERS are The Show Goes On and Words I Never Said:
flae, i cant believe you left out "friday".
It's only the best thing since Bieber Fever! :DDD
Take that, Bieber and Black!
It's only the best thing since Bieber Fever! :DDD
It's all about The Black Plague now...
I'm currently off work due to the fact I accidently whilst in the heat of the moment cut my forearm open with a stanley knife I have it in bandages, and I also get to wear a cool gaunlet to keep the bandages and tape in place just like Altiar except without the hidden blade. So I have been enjoying Assassins Creed 1 all the time, and have selected one peice of music that is sure to make the whole experience much more thrilling.

This playing in my ears whilst running and battling through Arsuf last night, really made me feel unstoppable
Enjoy, and I hope my arm gets better soon.
