This is our monthly "at-ease weekend". Gives us a chance to kind of let down our hair, although I see you all have a head start. These haircuts wouldn't pass military muster, believe me. Although I shouldn't talk, my hair's getting a little shaggy too.

Continuing the previous quote:

...my hair's getting a little shaggy too. Better not get too close to you, they'll think I'm part of the band. I am joking, of course. Shall we go in and I'll show you around? Walk this way, please, right through here. Did you ever run into a musical group works out of Kansas City call themselves "Four Jacks and a Jill"? They've been at a Ramada Inn there for about 18 months. If you're ever in Kansas City and want to hear some good music, you might want to drop by. I would like to get the playing on about 1900 hours, if that is satisfactory.

You won't even feel the blade.

That's it! This is the scene where Fred Willard plays a lieutenant welcoming the band to an Air Force base in Seattle.

Talk about a shot in the dark on that one...

Separate quotes from my childhood movie (meaning, this isn't a conversation in the movie, just a collection of quotes):

Let your heart guide you. It whispers so listen closely.
My stomach is talking.
The bright circle must pass over us many times, and we must follow it each day to where it touches the ground.

It is. It is the first one. Watched that movie ALL the time growing up... then, when my sister was about 3-4, she was the perfect age to want to watch all the sequels. A couple of them are good. A lot of them are not.

I also watched the movies growing up. Now that I think about it I can recall several of the movies.
1. The first where they journey to the great valley.
2. The main character's grandfather is sick so he and his friends go to the land of mists to retrieve a flower for a cure.
3. The waterfall supplying the main source of water stops for some reason.
4. The longneck dinosaurs start getting restless and head off to whatever is drawing them.
5. A baby dinosaur called a sharptooth winds up in the valley.
6. The other dinosaurs run into the sharptooth again, except he's a little older and can talk.

I don't remember any of the movies being bad, but then again it was forever ago since I last saw them.

Now for a quote:
"That's not fair! I had zombies too!"
"Yes, you had 'zombies.' But this is 'Zombie Redneck Torture Family.' Entirely separate thing. It's like the difference between an elephant and an elephant seal."

"Oh, man, I'm sorry."
"He had the conch in his hands!"
'I know. In a couple more minutes, who knows what might have happened. Yes."
'I am never gonna see a merman. Ever."
"Dude, be thankful. Those things are terrifying. And the cleanup on them is a nightmare."

"Okay, my turn! Jules!"
"Mmm?"
"Truth or dare?"
"Let's go dare."
"I dare you, to make out with..."
"Please say Dana. Please say Dana. Please say Dana."
"That moose, over there."
"Um, Marty? Have you ever seen a moose before?"
"Whatever that mysterious beast is?"
"It's a wolf."
"That's clearly a wolf."

We have a winner! The Cabin in the Woods is a horror movie that came out last year. If you've seen the trailer you would think you know what it's all about, but you have no idea. To me it wins for best plot twist.

Yes, enjoyable movie and best plot twist ever.

Here's my quote:

It's from a movie that came out in the 1970s, made from a famous American novel, the title of which has entered the language as a (kind of) syndrome.

Catch-22?

is that a movie?

It's the only famous American Novel that has entered the American lexicon that I can think of.

Yep. One of my favorite lines from that movie. I was born 2 years after it came out, but it was one of the only movies my parents had on VHS (that weren't meant for children - eg, Disney) that they would let us watch. The other was Top Gun.

Same character, different scene:

Now this is a warrant made out by circuit court judge Henry Allen Laudermilk of Austin, Texas. You're encouraged to wire him. He'll back up who I am, and who your dear departed sheriff was. In other words, marshal, you owe me two hundred dollars.

Hints:

This is a contemporary movie, released in the 2010's decade.
The actor quoted above received an Academy Award for this performance.
The writer also won an Oscar for the screenplay.
It's not a typical "cowboys and indians" western. No scenes take place further west than Texas.

You got it. I'm surprised Lisa didn't get it first. After recently looking him up I was surprised to learn Nicolas Cage was the one who inspired him to go into acting. Lots of other good stuff there, like the salary for some of his movies (what, $55,500,000 for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides?!) Looking forward to Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, which according to IMDB comes out in 2016.

First movie that popped into my head (probably wrong) is Jerry Maguire.

Jerry Maguire was a good guess. This movie was a comedy that came out about 5 years earlier. A couple more quotes from the same character:

"The stock is 14 because I'm buying it. I'm doing my part. Now you do yours. Get rid of this wire and cable division. It's a financial cancer."

"You know, at one time there must have been dozens of companies making buggy whips. And I'll bet the last company around was the one that made the best goddamn buggy whip you ever saw. Now, how would you have liked to have been a stockholder in that company?"

This comedic actor was somewhat younger and much shorter than Rodney Dangerfield. Last quote:

Danny DeVito is correct! He said all the lines above. To anyone who has seen the movie "wire and cable division" should ring a bell. For everyone else, Danny DeVito + "I love money" + "OPM" are the best hints.

I've seen this movie twice. Evidently nobody else has seen it even once! I'll reveal the title by completing two of the quotes:

"I love money. I love money more than I love the things it can buy. Does that surprise you? Money, it don't care whether I'm good or not. It don't care whether I snore or not. It don't care which god I pray to. There are only three things in this world with that kind of unconditional acceptance: Dogs, doughnuts, and money. Only money is better. You know why? Because it don't make you fat, and it don't poop all over the living room floor. There's only one thing I like better: Other people's money."

"Come on. Don't be a poor loser! Lying to protect your client is just doing a good job. I understand that. You didn't even ask me what OPM stands for. Other people's money!"

Aurel was closest with Danny DeVito. He goes next.

Hey, I know this one! It was originally titled The Nude Bomb which is in your quote so I guess you're looking for a different title. They had to change the name for TV - something like The Return of Maxwell Smart or Maxwell Smart Returns.

Remember the fight scene with the cloning machine? I intended to use a clip from that in my eternally unpublished video on Templar Cloning.

Actually that was the title I was looking for. I saw The Nude Bomb on Netflix, thinking it might be a spoof of The Naked Gun, but later found out it came out several years before. It may not have as many shenanigans as The Naked Gun, but it's a pretty funny movie all the same (you know a movie doesn't take itself seriously when an agent doesn't object to the idea of a bomb wiping away all fabrics and suggests the whole world starts wearing food). According to IMDB it's the first official Get Smart movie.

And funny you should mention the fight near the end, that was one of the most memorable moments and I most likely would have mentioned it. Perhaps it's more than a coincidence you were going to use that in the Templar Cloning video. The powers that be want you to make the video ASAP, or at least after making some vids of AC4 Big smile .
