Correct. First quote was Tony Stark referring to Doctor Strange and Wong as wizards. Second one was Peter Quill trying to one up Thor on shitty family stories.
“Greater good?’ I am your wife! I’m the greatest good you’re ever gonna get!”
Incredibles.
Incredibles.
It was too easy. I thought of a better one a few minutes ago that wouldn't have been 100% obvious. Ah well!
Right cinematic universe. Wrong movie.
Infinity War
Man, that was going to be my next guess, but I didn't bother getting on. Although the quote didn't sound familiar, what it was talking about rang a bell. I haven't been keeping up with superhero movies at all, but it just so happened a friend was watching Thor: Ragnarok on Netflix. I dozed off a bit towards the end, so I thought the quote might have been from there.
The last Marvel superhero movie I had seen before that was the first Avengers, if that tells you anything, although I did see some of Guardians of the Galaxy 2 lately.
This one's older... and I may have already used it but I'm too lazy to look in this thread...
"Ever think of killing yourself on purpose like my daddy done?"
"I studied about it. The Bible says you ought not to. It says if you do that, you go off to Hades. Some folks call it Hell, I call it Hades."
There. A nice happy movie quote to get this started.
Sling Blade?
Sling Blade?
Mmmhmmm.
"He's in a '46 Ford, we're in a DeLorean. He'd rip through us like we were tin foil."
hmm... Back to the Future is the only franchise I know that prominently features a DeLorean...
Care to guess which one? Here's another clue:
"I suppose it's poetic justice - two McFlys with the same gun."
Back to the Future 2.
Yes! That's the one.
Can't remember the exact words to this quote, but it's something along the lines of, "I'll have to set my Facebook status as trapped inside a video game".
Wreck-It Ralph?
My guess, in case he's wrong.... (having never seen these)
Tron?
Also haven't seen it, but I'm guessing Jumanji.
Full title is Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, but close enough.
A: "Is that your boy?"
B: "Sure. Yeah, he sure is."
A: "How old is he?"
B: "...Four."
C: "[I'm] eight."
B: "...They grow up so freaking fast, don't they?"
Ooh. Ooh. I remember that scene. Can't recall which movie at the moment. Maybe it will come to me. Good clue.
I'm with stabguy... sounds really familiar but I haven't a clue what it is.
By the sound of it, he's not really the father.
Damn, I know this one too. I think I even have the voices right in my head but can't think of who's speaking.
I'm going to guess Bad Santa. It's old but I happened to rewatch it last Christmas.
I'm going to guess Bad Santa. It's old but I happened to rewatch it last Christmas.
It's not that.
By the sound of it, he's not really the father.
That's definitely true.
Make some more guesses first, guys.
I'll throw out a random guess: Big Daddy.
EDIT: I looked it up on IMDB, and it says the kid is five years old, so unless both Adam Sandler and the kid are lying, it's not the movie.
I'll drop another quote. Not from the same character but still indirectly related to the last quote.
"Don't feed me any more lines from Monsters Inc.! It pisses me off!"
I dunno... Ted 2?
Bad Santa and Big Daddy were close guesses, in the sense that the movie I'm looking for also has a title with two words and starting with B.
Bee Movie?
This is gonna be so obvious once I hear what it is. The Monsters Inc line is throwing me off, though. That makes it probably within the last decade-ish.
Came here to guess Dispicable Me 1 or 2... I guess that's wrong...
That makes it probably within the last decade-ish.
That it is.
Dispicable Me 1 or 2
That it is not.
It features an actor who, as of 2017, won't be getting cast in anything anymore. Not because he died though. This actor delivered the second quote, the one about Monsters Inc.
Edit: Checking Wikipedia, there is one movie coming out this month where this actor will still be featured in.
Sounds like Baby Driver.
Sounds like Baby Driver.
Ding ding ding! You got it.
"Now, is he a god? I don't know if he's a god. I mean he ate a cat, so I mean, I don't, I don't know!"
That sounds like a British comedy. I'm betting it's pretty British.
Was there an ALF movie?
That sounds like a British comedy. I'm betting it's pretty British.
Not British, not a comedy. American fantasy/drama.
Was there an ALF movie?
Ha! I've been talking with a colleague about how ALF and this movie both involve eating cats. The similarities end there.
Another quote:
"Would I tell you about her? The princess without voice. Or perhaps I would just warn you, about the truth of these facts. And the tale of love and loss. And the monster, who tried to destroy it all."
Knowing that stabguy likes to pull from recent award-winning movies... and that it's a "fantasy/drama" ... a movie i have never seen, and know very little about.... The Shape of Water
Nicely done, Cheese! Ordinarily I wouldn't go see a fantasy movie but The Shape of Water really is as good as advertised.
Lol... really?
Who/what eats a cat in that movie? Now I'm intrigued...
"I can't trust my own mind."
Assassin's Creed?
A Beautiful Mind?
Not the movies I'm thinking of, but I can certainly understand if the quote is in either of them.
I haven't seen the Assassin's Creed movie yet.
The full quote is:
"I can't trust my own mind. So, until they figure out how to get this stuff out of my head I think going back under is the best thing."
I don't know. Total Recall
Pretty sure that's from "Captain America: Civil War".
Damn. I was coming in to post this one next:
"Okay, anybody on our side hiding any shocking and fantastic abilities they'd like to disclose? I'm open to suggestions."
But Joey with the snipe!
Admittedly, the first quote was hard, and not from the movie, per se... it was from a post-credits scene involving the Winter Soldier going back into stasis.
"Winter Soldier" is still probably my favorite MCU film. Using it as an action platform with political undertones was genius for Cap's character. The sequel is still pretty damn good.
Alright, new quote:
"Return my treasures to me, and I myself will carry you through the gates of Valhalla. You shall ride eternal. Shiny, and chrome!"
