Back before I knew that basic level guards couldn't kill targets, I recorded Garnier killing about all the guards around. So I decided to use that as a video of an alternate way of exterminating enemies. Plus some extras.
Clearing the Hospitalier Fortress
A good place to "confess" Garnier is on the West side of the building because there aren't many guards around there. The reason I assassinated one guard was because originally it was going to be a guard assisted assassination. If I was going to be a perfectionist it would have been worth it to rerecord, but I chose to save precious time.
For a good visual representation, refer to this map (taken from Thehiddenblade.com flag/Templar map and using Stabguy's drawn route for Garnier's travel route).
Blue line: Altair's route in the setup
Red line: Garnier's travel route
Blue dot: Location of Altair while confessing Garnier
Red dot: Location of Garnier witnessing Altair being attacked
Green diamond: Templar location
Numbered circles: Flags
Sometimes Garnier will notice the dead body and can be confessed from there.
By the looks of it, Garnier kills every guard inside the fortress, a save the citizen guard group, and the archers on the roof. Now here's a weird occurrence. After killing the last guard, Garnier teleports back inside and resumes his conversations with patients. Hasn't happened much so far but when it's either random or happens when the target is a distance away from his usual route.
Attempted Templar Assisted Assassination
Here's how you get the target and a Templar to fight. After Garnier's battle frenzy against the guards, get some after you and lead him East from the hospital. A Templar on the lower level of ground will usually sense the fight with Garnier and help out his Crusader allies. Several times I sent a Templar to finish off Garnier, and each time it was the target who was victorious. Either Garnier kept getting lucky or maybe he fights faster.
Because the game won't let targets and Templars die from regular attacks, you are just about guaranteed a combo or counter (one time it appeared to be a grab and throw). I have some ideas on how to strengthen the odds of the Templar defeating the target, but for now enjoy watching Garnier own everyone else.
Garnier Kill Animation Compilation (combos and counters)
During my recordings, Garnier performed a handful of combos and a few counters. Yes, characters can even perform the same counter kills as Altair. Sometimes I even heard the kills offscreen. Now to shamelessly show off his killings in this compilation.
Who knew the ol'doctor was such a badass?
You won't get in the way of him saving his "children"!
Big ups, Aurel, for jumping quick on figuring out new stuff to show using this tech.
If anyone wants to try and record any "Confessor" stuff, go ahead. I'm taking a short break before making any more videos.
I have some ideas on getting Garnier, if anyone else wants to try.

What's your ideas? Tell us please.
Garnier was always my favorite guy in AC1.
Are there ANY guards around in Solomon's Temple in the intro of the game to try to confess-kill those guys at the beginning? (Did anyone ever succeed at getting through the rock wall?)

I'm thinking that when the Templar goes after Garnier, knock him off the bridge when he's climbing up. Keep doing that until Garnier finishes off the other guards. Then run to Garnier to make him detect you before the Templar gets to him. If all goes well, Garnier won't fight back against the Templar because he's too focused on fighting you. The Templar's glitched state could be a problem though.

You mean this wall?
This may be a reach, but I think with these crazy new videos Aurel deserves to be the first ReFeatured Member of the site.
He was one of the first, in 2010, and I'm certain some things have changed since then! If nothing else, we can get his opinions on things after ACB.
Would be pretty cool. In terms of videos, (which are this site's main social currency) he feels like the contributor that er, contributed, most since the others stopped uploading so many.

Aurel is the Dana Carvey of The Hidden Blade. He came along and rescued the site after the original cast retired.

As long as he doesn't go all crazy Church Lady on us... never did like that one. Chopping Broccoli, however... literally how I remember there are two Cs and one L is from that sketch/song. "she choppin' broc-coli"
You're right, Mcstab. Things certainly have changed. We're still waiting for Stabguy to get featured...
I want to post the guard combat videos on other forums, but can't think of much besides Gamefaqs. Anyone aware of other active AC fansites, or are we the only one?

Never heard of Dana Carvey, Church Lady or Chopping Broccoli.
Stabguy is referring to the original cast of Saturday Night Live. They retired and Carvey was the best thing on that show and held it together. I wasn't alive when this was happening, but I love me some SNL classics.
edit: I was BARELY alive then. He joined in 1986 (my birthyear). I thought he was on the show before that. I did enjoy Hartman as well, though.

I have tried to lead Garnier to a Templar (Located in the center of Acre) and try to don't let the Templar to see me. Unfortunately, he always chosen to attack me.
If Garnier is fighting guards nearby, the Templar usually came after him. Is the Templar in the video already assassinated in your game?
I thought that targets and mission guards were subfactions within regular factions, which explained why the regular guards didn't react to them attacking Altair. In the Maria assassination I killed all the other guards attacking me and had her attack me in front of Saracen guards, who didn't react (and since Maria is in Templar clothes, it stands to reason she's part of the Templar faction). So now it seems these subfaction enemies are an exclusive faction that won't get attacked unless they are already killing other guards.
I killed all the guards and led Garnier to visit the Templar near the bridge. I tried to hide behind a pillar and let Garnier to hit me, and I'm sure the Templar did not see me, and I'm sure he saw Garnier is attacking "someone", I am also pretty sure that he is being triggered by Garnier's attack, but he just always chosen to attack me.
Strange, sometimes Garnier will not teleport after end his fight, although he's far away from the hospital.
Forgot to mention this (actually I did mention in the Templar Assisted Assassination of Tamir topic that I couldn't get the Templar to attack Tamir directly, although I didn't say why), but an uncloned Templar can detect you through walls. So the two options are either lead a fight to the bridge or find a Templar who can be cloned.
Also forget what I said about guards being able to damage targets' health. I had a target take forty or so hits and later attacked him several times till he finally collapsed. Either it's only combos and counters that do damage, or attacks from high level guards only. That explains why Garnier always killed the Templar first: He was at full health.

According to al-Assas' article, Garnier at full health is 65 hitpoints whereas a Templar has 80. If they get in an equal number of combos and counters, Garnier should fall first.
My idea is to lead Garnier to two Templars (in series, not at the same time). Maybe the first can take down his health and the second can finish him off.
I'm confused, because Garnier made me feel like he has more than 65 hitpoints in your video, is that my illusion? Or, maybe just because he can counter kill?
Regular attacks from guards don't appear to do damage.
You know what? I guess Ezio can do this job, I mean let the Templar to kill Garnier. We can just throwing a smoke bomb and then grab his collar. He can also make guards fight each other by SPOE.
Sorry to digress again. Did anyone saw French army fight with British army in AC3's early frontier?
One time the Templar didn't go into the glitched state (I have a theory about that in the description)
