I'd rather watch them than the USA. Sorry but I just don't like USA that much (in football mostly). I now want to see Ghana do well Smile

Yeah, great goal to tie it up at the half, by the way OH WAIT NEVER MIND Cool

At least we kept pace with Ghana. You guys got blown out of the water by Germany. Now that we're both out I can actually say that I think England had completely unrealistic expectations for the world cup and deserved to lose. We may have tied 1-1, but USA was clearly the better team in the world cup, despite the fact that we got screwed over on twice as many goals as England did.

And I'm posting this because of its relevance to the world cup, not because Shakira is an absolute babe Love

Overall, England are miles ahead of USA but I see your point about the World Cup sepcifically. And yes I realise that is to do with the world cup but would have no problem if it wasn't Wink Great song Laughing out loud

After England failed, Japan, Ghana and the Netherlands became my adopted teams. I just hope you make it through (yn)

Wow, can't believe Netherlands won. Now there's nothing stopping Argentina from winning IMO. But Netherlands vs. Argentina should be a great final match.

Uruguay should have been ejected. That intentional handball is absolute bullshit. Uruguay fucking sucks. Period. Excuse my vulgarity but that was absolute horseshit what they pulled today. Granted, Ghana should have made the penalty kick, but the fact that the goal was denied by a clearly intentional handball is ridiculous. Forget banning one player for the next match, disqualify the whole team. Ghana won today fair and square, but Uruguay had to fucking cheat to stay in the match.

FIFA needs to take more drastic action during this cup. From vuvuzelas to shitty officiating they haven't done jack the entire tournament. It's ridiculous.

yeah the decision is really tough there. On the BBC news this morning they were discussing how in the sport of rugby that would qualify as a penalty try so the goal would be given outright. Instead, football requires the team to try again. Granted Gyan should have scored it but its still really unfair. he looked so upset after. Really wanted Ghana to win as well Sad

In Basketball, if you block the ball from going in after it's started arcing down they call "goaltending" and award the points anyway. Maybe soccer should do something similar...

Yeah I think they should. Its different to when a player is about to shoot. Then a penalty makes sense as they get a free chance to actually carry out the shot (I'm talking about football but its relevant to basketball too). But when the ball has already been kicked/thrown and is about to go in, it should just be given. The player has already effectively scored so should not have to do so again.

Also, Germany will now win the World Cup IMO.

Definately Germany will be this year's champion.
I hope Spain at least gives a good match, not like every other country that faced Germany, except from Serbia.

We've made it into the final! Party
Don't you all support the Netherlands!? And, btw, making rules about still counting a goal when it's not, is pretty much impossible. Sometimes it's hard to see if a goal would really be in. I personally think that rat of a Suarez should be suspended for more international matches. He can still play the match for the 3th place! It makes no sense, the FIFA should grow up now and reform.

Yes! Go Netherlands!

Has FIFA discussed stationing a referee behind each goal who can determine if the ball goes in or not? That would eliminate the need for technology (which they apparently hate Puzzled )? That England goal would have been seen clearly if that was the case. Is this something that happens often, somewhat often, rarely?

15 minutes until kick-off. FLAE's eye roll
I'm nervous.

EDIT:
First half played: 0-0
That Webb guy really kills the game with all those yellow cards.

EDIT: Please agree with me Webb is the biggest asshole in the history of FIFA referees, and Robben, that prick, had two amazing big chances. No penaltys please.

Absolutely gutted for the Netherlands. Didn't play that great and were a bit dirty but still wanted them to win. Spain were better but tbh I don't care. I just don't like Spain Sad

LONGLIFE PAUL!!!!!! Party Beer Beer
You should have seen it over here. It was just crazy, with lots of poeple in the streets. I recognize Netherlands gave one hell of a match, but Spain really earned it.
As to the referee, he was awful, to both sides. And robben was just a little girl, crying in front of the referee; he deserved that card.

We deserved three corners, shouldn't recieved at least 4 yellow cards (Van der Wiel didn't even TOUCH Iniesta!) and of course, he should've disallowed the offside of Iniesta before the goal. It sounds easy blaming the referee, but what a FUCKER! I know it's Robben fault too. Two extremely big chances 1vs1 with Casillas! Btw, I think Webb is paid by Del Bosque to let Spain win! All those Spainards commited fouls EQUALLY to those De Jong, Van Bommel and Heitinga commited. Sometimes not even a free kick!
In about 30 years, when my 3 children ask me: ''Daddy, in 2010, we made it to the final, didn't we? Did we win?'' What do I have to say then? ''Well kids, we had this bald-headed referee...''.
I'm emotional stressed. I watched with friends. When the match was over, everyone was dead quite. Nobody cried, nobody yelled. I didn't cried either. I thought I would. But there is so much going on through my mind, I didn't know what to do. It's my birthday tomorrow. I don't think it would be a very nice party... Everyone sitting there all depressed... And about Paul: I would like to have some sushi...!

Webb didn't have a great game as ref but all the first half yellow cards were justified. The problem was that he stopped giving them in the second half when Spain were doing all the fouling! He might not have refereed that well but he's still a lot better than most of the FIFA referees Tongue I think he was reluctant to give so many more yellows but it made him inconsistent.

Robben should have scored twice and was pathetic at trying to get a penalty and then chasing Webb for the actual foul by Puyol. Also, Iniesta was onside both for the goal and for the chance before as the BBC showed.

People sent in recipes for Paul when he predicted the Spain win over Germany. Wonder if any of them will be used... Crazy

Now Brasil has to ready up for 2014.
I hope this is the year in which Panama finally classifies. At least I'm glad the Wc is over, it was cool and everything, but by the quarter-finals I was already sick of all the advertisements and propaganda of it.
And now that spain finally accomplished its goal, its back to Barcelona for me. anybody else follows any other league?

I know what you mean. The constant adverts, even for products that are in no way related to the World Cup or football, became really, really annoying, especially here in England where the media is obsessed with the team's chance of winning and inevitable failure Tongue Are Panama any good? Can't say I've ever seen them play on TV or anything but it would be nice if more smaller teams qualified and even did well in the World Cup. I personally follow the Championship (old Division 1, and old Division 2 before the Premiership) where I watch all the ups and downs (mainly downs) of Coventry City Tongue

The best part of the game was when that guy got kicked in the chest. My friends and I laughed so hard we almost shot Pibb out our noses at BW3.
