Tell us your best times while playing video games (don't forget to use spoiler tags when necessary). Lets put them into categories:
"That Word" Moments
First time I played AC1 and Oblivion. For AC1 I was enthralled by the game right away, but the best part of the beginning was the attack on Masyaf. The scene with Al Mualim and Robert was like something from Lord of the Rings (that was the only thing I could really compare it to at that time). And then Altair's first leap of faith, for a second there I thought he was really committing suicide. For Oblivion I really liked the mechanics for the game. Being able to pick up weapons dropped by enemies and looting the items enemies had in their inventory was something I had never seen before in a game. And the story at the beginning played out pretty well.
Shocked/Surprised Moments
At the end of MGS2.
Funny Moments
Two funny moments in Chrono Cross. At one part someone lets you use his boat, but under two conditions. One is that he marries the main female character (and she's standing there with you at that time). If you go along with it she immediately kicks you right in the *OWW!* At another part you're fighting soldiers while trying to escape a place. When you reach a certain part there's no where to go. Someone asks you what to do. There are two things you can say:
1. Fight the guards (never picked that option).
2. Heh heh heh.
If you pick the second option a funny scene will occur. That's all you're getting from me.
Easter Egg Moments
A funny scene in Destroy All Humans 2 that I consider to be an Easter egg. After the second time you talk to The Freak recap your mission goals. Now this guy is on drugs all the time, so it's no wonder he doesn't remember anything you just discussed. At this point the character you're playing looks right at the screen and says, "See, kids, this is why you shouldn't do drugs."
Frustrated Moments
Now you all know I record things in AC, and that I may take some time for some of them. The longest, most frustrating thing to record was the blitz on Silvio and Dante. I tried for hours before I finally figured how to do it right. But outside of AC there was one level in Super Mario World, Tubular. This is in star path where you spend most of the level in the air. I never managed to beat that level.
Sad Moments
Can't really remember many sad moments, but a recent sad moment for me was near the end of ACR.
Scared Moments
Can't recall any scared moments since I don't play scary games.
I'll finish these later after further thought and speculation. Also don't have the patience to type more out right now.
The Childhood Favorite
The Terror
The Disappointment
Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. That's all that needs to be said.
Holy F^&%)@* S#!( did I just do that?
The first time I jumped the entire LA River in Midnight Club: Los Angeles on a motorcycle going over 315 mph, I was in a state of disbelief. That was absolutely ridiculous, and if I ever get a capture card that's the first thing I'm going to record. Also when I did my first run of Eagle's Bruise and deliberately punched Garnier out of the open hospital window. Two stunts I hoped I could pull off ended up being the craziest things ever. Also, countless moments with sports games could go in this category.
The Shocker
But no man can run forever.
Four headshots later, Marston is lit up with gunfire. What once was the man I had rode through the West with for so long now was an unrecognizable mess of blood and pain. I spent the next few minutes with my jaw on the floor as I watched Marston bleed out to death. He died slowly and painfully. Despite this, I think I was more stunned than he was. This hero, my hero, that I had gone through thick and thin with was decimated in seconds. The army leaves shortly afterwards, and Marston is left under the sun for the vultures. His wife and son return shortly after the shots are fired, and are left grieving for the man that had redeemed them and given them a second chance at life. My head sank, I was in a shocked state of depression.
Of course, the story doesn't quite end there, but everything afterwards that happens with his son Jack isn't nearly as satisfying. I'll remember Red Dead Redemption fondly for this moment, the moment I lost John Marston, the most terrible yet fulfilling moment I have ever had in gaming.
The Easter-Egg
The Anger(er)
My Finest Hour
Great topic idea.
"That word" moments
there must have been a lot of these, but I'll just recall one that happened about a week ago in Skyrim. I'm walking around a snowy mountain and without realizing I stumble into a dragon lair. The dragon comes out and as I backpedal some meters to get myself prepared I fall of a little cliff without really hurting myself, thing is, I encounter ANOTHER dragon. As quickly as I can I hop onto my horse and run for it, Elder and Frost dragon both after me killing everything in the way. I see the most nearby city and suddenly EVERY single living being start attacking the dragon. Horses, guards, farmers, some Khajiit conjurers who were passing by jumped into the fray. Looked like WW, with arrows and spells flying around. I managed to take a screenshot after the horses finished off the last dragon.
Shocking moment
More than any other moment, the end of Shadow of the Colossus.
Funny moments
A good couple ones.
-Conquer: Bad Fur Day. EVERYTHING.
-Almost every single part of the first Jak and Daxter
-Just a lot of dialogues from House of the Dead: Overkill
-The second mission in Battlefield 3. When you are sneaking in the sewer pipes and have to confront the pest
-Hours and hours of Halo Reach multiplayer in Forge world.
And again from Skyrim
Easter egg moments
Both of my favorite easter eggs are related to MGS
Scary moments
I must have been 7 or 8 when I first played both Silent Hill 2 and the first Resident Evil. I sould have listened... I wasn't ready...
What the hell is going on?!?!
Playing 5 minutes of Katamari Damacy.
My best moment
I was 6 years old and finally managed to beat The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time with almost no knowledge of the English language and skipping almost every conversation there was. Same with Donkey Kong 64 and Conquer: Bad Fur Day.
FLAE: spoiler maybe? Would you mind changing your post to put tags in?
EDIT: NVM, I did it.
Doesnt matter, Pty James, kinda ruined it for me...
Crap. I missed that. Sorry, Jack. I guess I need more sleep.
I'm sorry Jack, I should have been more conscious of the post's nature.
i just wanna say this about Mass Effect 3.
the very first time i saw a Banshee (the freakishly tall Asari Husk)
that was one of the scariest things i've seen in a game for a long time.
that scream creeps me out every time. and the teleportation just makes it that much worse
especially later on when they come 3-4 at once.
