So I think we all have a decent judgement on what console we'd be most interested in getting for the next gen. I'm not saying any of us are getting one right away, but I'm sure most of us will move on to it sooner or later (I won't until Christmas, most likely).

I'm very much sold on PS4. Even if they moved on to paid online fees like Xbox 360 had, it's only $5 a month ($60 a year isn't bad to play with your friends). Xbox Live would always charge me $10 per month, and I'm sure they'd either increase their online price or keep that, so I'd rather go with Sony on that aspect.

But it's not all about a monthly fee. PS4 also doesn't care what we do with our disc-based games, unlike Xbox. To me, Xbox One takes away the openness and freedom of gaming, which ultimately takes away what makes socializing through games fun. PS4 is seriously focused on its gaming community first and foremost. And it's at a great price. I was seriously expecting $700-$900, so you can understand why I'm happy that they showed a $399 price tag.

there's 5 moths left. I want an Xbone, but MS needs to backpeddle on a bunch of the crap attached to it. It effectively blocks several countries from ever using it, due to differences in internet.

I love the controller, the game lineup, and the majority of the people who work at the MS games division and develop for the console, I just hate whatever executives made these boneheaded decisions. Stuff like this was coming to gaming eventually, but forcing it too soon is going to cost them in the short term for sure, and maybe even long term.

So if Xbone doesn't perk up and the PS4 continues to not show any exclusives I want, I'll simply have to chill on my 360 a bit.

EDIT: this may be a useful resource for those on the fence: http://i.imgur.com/ZWK5YzZ.png

So will this: http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/06/12/gamers-without-internet-can-stick...

Probably the most dick-baggiest thing to say after all of this. "Who doesn't have internet? If you wanna complain so much, then stick with our other console, sillies!" - What I got from it.

Yeah, I saw that. That guy needs to either be shunted to a different position, or forced to get out of the company. Doesn't know how to talk to gamers, doesn't understand what position they're in.

However, that interview was before the sony conference. He's probably crying now.

most likely sticking with 360 until they no longer make games i want for it. (i only got it a couple years ago, afterall).

after that, I'll probably move to PC gaming... even though I love the whole console thing, i don't play enough to warrant getting one for the prices they will cost me, even a couple years down the road. (i shouldn't have gotten in 360, but i did...) .. and i'll always have a home PC, so why not game on it? more easily upgradable than anything else too...

I like PC but it's too much "what if" if you don't know what you're doing (like myself). I buy consoles because I KNOW it'll play as well as I expect it to when I put the disc in. With PC, the end product is better than consoles, but that's only if you're up-to-date with your hardware. Then there's all the installs, patches, updates, etc you have to deal with. And it's all about the same price as consoles.

Though PC will always have free online access, mods, and better looking games than any console. I'm just not willing to put in that much work for gaming.

And that's my 2 cents.

I meant it more as a "I'll use my PC for games and other things" so the investment isn't $$ for only games... more multipurpose -- and I don't need a $400 Netflix machine / game console.

Who am I kidding... by this time next year, I'll have a real job and I'll have a PS4 along side my 360...

I'm sure I''ll make the move over to PS4 at some point. I was thinking about maybe changing my pre-order of ACIV to be for PS4 as opposed to 360, but then I saw that NHL '14, which I'm going to get, won't be made available to the next-gen consoles, so I'll probably wait.

Slowly, but surely, the job gets done.

Is this some sort of trade in thing that makes it so you can't keep the 360 to play NHL14 on one TV and get a PS4 to play AC4 on another?

Just keep both systems. That's what I am saying.

I think I'm more excited to see almost all THB members (at least the ones that are going to stay up-to-date on consoles) on my friends list, rather than a few on Xbox and others on Playstation. Playing with you guys will be so much fun. Laughing out loud

Personally, I think that this is all just media hype and jumping at the bandwagon as of right now. It's too early to judge who will win in this console war (and I use that term with a grain of salt)..especially the fact that the consoles themselves haven't even been released. Bear in mind that you are now required to shovel $5 a month for PSN membership, which is odd considering the fact that free multiplayer was one of the highlights for the PS3. Bear in mind that Microsoft can lower the cost of their machines, and there's always the chance that they can change their DRM policy. Bear in mind that there's a nasty rumor going around where Sony might give developers the power whether their games can be played used.

Don't forget that we're not all entirely decided at this point. It's more of taking all the information that's been handed us, at least everything that's been officially confirmed, and making a judgement call based on all of it. E3 is the big event that shows us what to expect from each company. I think it's safe to assume which way we'll go in terms of console favor-ability.

I like the look of the Xbone exclusives, so I'll probably get it. The policies don't affect me, and I don't think that not buying it would help anyone who was affected by them. I don't like the fact that it's excluding potential gamers, and I'm gonna keep hounding microsoft to find ways to make it work without doing so, though I also think those people will be fine with PS4 if MS doesn't pull together fast enough.

Mad props on making the image 3.03x as big. Zoolander would be proud.

Just to play devil's advocate here though...

For those that WANT the camera for gaming / etc... how much will it cost on PS4? That could be the difference in the cost right there.

In addition, I've heard that although the X-Bone is making the 24 hour thing and DRM, etc mandatory, that PS is making it up to the publishers... The X-Bone is just being honest about it.

I tested that Bing vs Google thing out and I didn't get that result. I got perfectly normal search results. Guess most people aren't testing it.

Also you don't need the 24 hour check any more.

It's gone.

Still, screw Don Mattrick, but he's not the one who decided to make this change, so I don't care. I just hope he doesn't have such a public face at subsequent E3s.

Along with Cheese's comment, I'm still not getting one. It really showed that they're more interested in squeezing out as much money as possible from their consumers than making their fans happy. I'm still going for PS4.

Lol, every company is only interested in squeezing as much money out of customers as possible. Sony didn't think it would go over well, that's why they held off. But it's going to happen sometime in the next 10 years, everything is heading that way.

I don't care that Microsoft is behaving like companies behave, I'm going to the system that has the games I want. And now there's no reason not to.

And oh boy, you have no idea how many times I've seen that 180 joke.

I haven't had experience with Xbox One, but I liked playing on PS4 (although the experience was limited to Trine 2 and some other indie games). The touch pad was actually easy to use after a few tries and the controller feels great. That's about all the experience I can give.

If you don't care about Kinect, you can pick up a Kinectless Xbox One for $399 starting June 9. After months of saying they'd never offer such a thing, Microsoft caved in today.

I will tell you this, the PS4 is pretty awesome. Granted I don't use a lot of the features (which is one of the reasons why Microsoft's pushing of the voice control system for the XBOX One, which is supposedly fantastic, did nothing for me), but I've had very good experiences with playing ACIV. That's the only game I currently own, so it's a bit limiting in my review. However, there are a lot of titles that are going to be released this year that I am excited for (NHL '15, The Last of Us) that I like because the developers didn't rush a version out at launch (note that The Last of Us is a juiced up version for next gen technology of the already released title). And obviously AC: Unity (TEAM COLON FOREVER).

Right now the Xbone has more titles that interest me, but I'm not much of a gamer. I basically play on weekend mornings while my wife sleeps. And that's if I don't have scheduled time to play tennis with my brother-in-law. I love videogames, I won't lie. But I've found they unfortunately become less of a priority as I've gotten older (and I'm not even 27 yet, so you that play in college, play a LOT).

On related notes, did anyone play The Last of Us and what were your thoughts on it?

Slowly, but surely, the job gets done.

I finished the Last of Us recently and it's an example of incredible game design.
I would call it a perfect game. Not THE perfect game, A perfect game. We need more of what the Last of Us did.
You'll probably see what I mean when you experience it yourself, to say too much would diminish your enjoyment.

I didn't play The Last Of Us, but I heard the story was pretty good so I watched a playthrough on YouTube. It was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. The story and cutscenes are really good and it makes you feel like you're watching a movie. As for gameplay, I can't say much, but there's a good amount of sneaking around.

Now time to decide if I'm accepting the position. THEN get the PS4 to fulfill my prophesy.

I really should have written it as "6 months from now" instead of 1 year... then I'd have been at my new job by now.
