Alrighty, as I've finished everything else in the single player campaign, I'm doing the guild challenges. I'm on the Courtesan one right now, and it says I have to kill enemies who are at a guardpost without being detected, and using the crossbow. Now naturally, the easiest way to kill without being detected is to be on the rooftops, since the guards never look up. (Needs to be fixed for the next AC, BTW) Problem is, I've searched and found every area where guards don't patrol and stand like they're guarding something. And none of them count towards the challenge. I'm confused, am I misunderstanding what a guard post is?
I wasn't sure what this was, either. I originally thought it was the 4 guards talking to each other every few corners in Rome.
Remember when you were fighting with Bartolomeo and you have to kill guards in the campy areas (walled-off areas with tents in them)? Kill all of them with the crossbow, but there aren't the exact amount you need to kill at each post, so you'll need to find more.
If you need a better visual aid of what I mean, locate the Armor of Brutus (or the golden wolf head on the map) and get on ground-level directly above that. You'll see a handful of tents inside some wooden walls. This is what guard posts look like.
Hope this helped!
Oh yeah, definately. I found myself some nice tall building in the memory "French Kiss", and I rained death on surprisingly stupid guards.
I remember someone saying that it was a few of those guards standing with their arms crossed. Haven't tested that hypothesis yet, though.
Terme di Diocleziano. There are lots of places to climb on and many of those particular guards. Snipe, hide, run far enough away so they respawn, etc.
Around Borgia Towers (before destroyed) there are loads of guard patrols.
In AC1 a "guard post" was defined as 2 to 4 guards standing in a phalanx formation (i.e. shoulder to shoulder) and preventing entrance to a gate. Perhaps it means the same thing in this context?
Other terms from AC1 are guard patrol (4 to 9 guards marching in formation) and guard circle (3 to 5 guards around a citizen to be saved).
And AC2 think of the guys outside the banks
Pretty sure in ACB it only means that french (blue) guards who stand at their outposts if you haven't killed the french target in the story, or during the memory "French Kiss"
i'm pretty sure it's the ones standing with they're arms crossed.
there is one memory in partcular that's good for it. think it's a thiefs guild quest where you have to save some thieves who are captured, and they are just completely surrounded by stationary guard posts.
don't remember what the memory is called right now though
I did this challenge yesterday as part of my second run in ACB. What I found most effective was to do it during some free roam time during any memory prior to the assassination of the Baron de Valois, when there are french posts around Campagna district. Its easy to see them as they are almost completely surrounded by wooden pikes, so do some recon before unleashing the croosbow. Also looks for spots where more than 2-4 guards are shown as a single stationary dot on the minimap, just to make sure the kill counts.
