Personally, i'm looking forward to Splinter Cell Conviction, Mass Effect 2 and Bioshock 2. Halo Reach looks good too, but I don't believe it will meet it's 2010 deadline somehow.
@Rob- Do you see any chance of Stargate Worlds coming out next year?
Um... GTA V? Hello?!?!?
Um... GTA V? Hello?!?!?
Heh, I hope it isn't called GTA V though.
Anyone here a big Nintendo gamer? I've never been in the Nintendo camp, but I imagine your looking forward to Mario Galaxy 2?
Just Mass Effect 2 right now (that I can think of off hand).
Mass Effect 2, but it would feel a bit wierd to buy that since i just borrowed the first one from the library.
@Rob- Do you see any chance of Stargate Worlds coming out next year?
what's stargate worlds?
Dante's Inferno!!!!!
http://community.stargateworlds.com/
It's a stargate MMORPG thats been in development for awhile, it was not that far away from release last year but then the recession hit them really hard, all the investors dropped out, and they were unable to finish it. Now however, they have just got funding again and development has resumed.
okay. i'm not much for MMO's. not since i escaped Travian cause i know that once i get into an MMO i will be there all day and i just don't have the time for that.
I really advise against ANY MMO's unless you think drugs are a good thing for your future...lol
But what about this Dante's Inferno?
But what about this Dante's Inferno?
The demo's out and I've heard a lot of people say it's pretty bad. I haven't tried it myself.
Supposedly it's just a God of War ripoff with an Assassins Creed twist (it starts in Acre during the Thrid Crusade, and ends up in Hell). I hope Altair makes a surprise appearance
Well I got interested in it because it was set in the poem of Dante Alighieri, which is my favorite book. I haven't tried it, the demo comes 2 weeks after on XBL in Latinamerica. What's the thing with GoW, then if this is a ripoff, then Saboteur is a ripoff of GTA, ChronoTrigger of FF, and then, Soul Calibur, Mortal Kombat, Dead or Alive, Tekken and King of Fighters creators must all be sued.
Just kidding, guess you're right but at least brings a new story to the Hack 'N' Slash games.
There are many great things in the world that don't belong in video games.
The Divine Comedy is one of them
Ok, apart fron Dante's, Alan Wake, GT5, Lost Planet 2, Bad Company 2, and thanks to you guys, Mass Effect 2.
Kind of a lot of games.
Wait wait wait... NO ONE SAID BIOSHOCK 2?!?!?!? WHERE ARE YOUR HEADS PEOPLE?!?!?!?!?
Splinter Cell: Conviction. That engine needs to be in AC3 (I always wanted to be looking as if I'm fleeing, like a normal pedestrian.)
Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands
A new Tetris game released on PSN and XBL Marketplace with HD Graphics and customizable effects (C'MON PEOPLE.)
Probably Assassin's Creed III, to be honest.
Splinter Cell: Conviction
Mass Effect 2
Alan Wake
BioShock 2
Lost Planet 2
Bad Company 2
God of War 3
Most of those I'm probably going to just rent though.
Lost Planet 2 is FREAKIN SERIOUS!!! THE RETURN OF THE SPACE PIRATS!
Games that I'm looking forward to in 2010? "Not quite sure yets" are starred
Army of Two: The 40th Day (my roommate and I played through and enjoyed the first one)
Splinter Cell: Conviction
Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands
(I'd also assume the sequel to PoP08 will come out this fall, but nothing has been said about it.)
*Red Dead Redemption
*Star Trek Online
*Aliens vs Predator
And a few others, if I can think of them later I'll add them.
mass effect 2 and splinter cell conviction hehe also my bday is coming up this feb 9th yay to me! ill be 19 this year oh god
StarCraft II.
Best RTS game (StarCraft 1's) sequel.
I love it.
DAZ I'm sorry to tell you I heard it just got delayed (again) to 2011.
And I'm considering buying Bayonetta because I heard it's actually freakin ridiculous. Does anyone have it? If so, what your opinion?
i just tried the demo for Bayonetta.
i did not like.
the camera was awful and i had no idea what was going on

Apparently the demo is a poor indication of how the real game is.
**Off topic: Anyone else notice the guy from Darksiders has a red Assassins Creed style hood?**
War? Yeah I noticed that too, and Rob, Asaic is right, Bayonetta is FREAKIN MIND BLOWING!
Mass Effect 2
Dante's Inferno
Bioshock 2
Splinter Cell: Conviction
Spec ops: The line
Mafia II
That new PoP installment...
Fable III
Damn you, gaming industry! Your booming development is ruining me!
Those game's seem to be quite interessing. I'll surely rent them.
Dante's Inferno
Socom Fireteam Bravo 3
Red Dead Redemption
After playing the demo last night, I'm looking forward to Heavy Rain.
I heard it's not really that good, it's more like a movie than it is a game.
I also heard Dante's Inferno was a HUGE disappointment.
They both were for me
I had heads up for Dante but came to be a bad copy of God of War, thou it delivered some nice couple of hours of fun, stilll is repetitive as hell.
As to Heavy Rain, its just a movie in which you can change some parts of the outcome, still, didnt felt as revolutionary as they promised it would be.
i'm onto buying any new GTA stuff
FIFA 11
Red Dead Redemption
Medal of Honor
Splinter Cell: Conviction
Spec Ops: The Line
Final Fantasy XIII
Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sand
Mass Effect (rent to see if i like, because i usually hate sci-fi stuff)
and if Assassins Creed Episodes come out this year it will be top priority :]
I heard it's not really that good, it's more like a movie than it is a game.
It being like a movie is what I enjoyed most about the demo. Oh well, to each his/her own I guess.

I don't really get why Dante's inferno has gotten such a large amount of bad critique. While it sure does borrow mechanics from GoW, quite heavily, it does a great job in doing so. GoW is a great game, if another game successfully "copies" it, doesn't that also make that game great? The combat is fun and deep enough, without just getting messy (ninja gaiden 2 had an insane amount of useless combos), and it was rewarding to level up and buy new skills that were actually useful.
While the voice acting for Virgil, Dante and Beatrice weren't all that special, the animated cutscenes felt fresh and blended in neatly with the other story-telling elements, and the actual written dialogue never fellt out of place, and while the story of Dante going through hell just to save his beloved might be considered a bit weak, atleast it's something. And towards the end you get a feeling that it's bigger than just Dante and Beatrice. Besides, hell is the star here, and MAN! Some of those circles were very nicely designed, and the game had a bunch of epic moments. Especially riding Phlegyas into Dis, and crossing the Styx march. The environments felt true to the poem (just check out the drawings), and most games are, when developed, never given that attention to environment detail. They've done a good job at having each circle reflect each sin in a clever/sophisticated way (except for lust, perhaps)
Speaking of epic, you should take a listen to the soundtrack. Some of the most epic and frightening stuff i've heard. It's the same composer who has done the music for both bioshock 1 and 2.
I feel like I'm writing an essay on this now, but all I wanted to say was that the game has gotten far too little appreciation seeing the amount of (highly successful if you ask me) effort, time and creativity put into it. Most people (IGN and gamespot included) just seem to label it "GoW copy" and wave it off. The 6.5 rating given by gamespot was especially dissapointing. Now, wether you actually enjoyed the game or not doesn't really matter. Naturally, not everyone likes every game. My point is just that there needs to be some light shone on the stuff that's actually impressively well crafted.
Kudos to the one who bothered reading through this, no offense to anyone who dislikes dante's inferno. I just had to vent my thoughts on the game somewhere.
At this point I'm really just waiting for Halo Reach. Unfortunately this is the lapse year for Microsoft and all the good stuff comes out next year. I'm not really enthralled by anything yet. When E3 rolls around in April hopefully we get glimpses of some more entertaining material.
But for right now I'm perfectly content with MW2, Halo 3, AC2, and others. Don't plan on buying anything until Halo Reach or GTA San Andreas Stories.
I don't know if buyin' Red Dead Redemption, SSFIV or maybe Conviction.

Going back to this list, I'm changing things up a bit.
Army of Two is out, after seeing my buddies play it I feel like I don't need to get it any more.
Splinter Cell Conviction... I might wait until summer for that. Get it used.
PoP is still in.
Red Dead Redemption became a must buy after I read some more about it and watched some more videos.
STO, after playing a ten day trial... nah. Sure it captures ship combat perfectly... but the game is boring and grindy.
AvP is also out.
Really... I've got enough of a backlog that three games released over the next few months is more than enough.
I heard Red Dead Redemption is going to be one of the best games this year, and I also heard that AvP is only fun when playing as the aliens, including when online. Aliens have the best and most intriguing abilities, predators are a solid meh, and humans are what you'd expect in contrast to the others.
What's the story with Forgotten Sands? Is it a sequel to PoP 4 or continuing the Sands of Time Saga? Is it supposed to be good?
What's the story with Forgotten Sands? Is it a sequel to PoP 4 or continuing the Sands of Time Saga? Is it supposed to be good?
It's a continuation of the Sands of Time story, set somewhere between Sands of Time and Warrior Within.
Kotaku has a good article on it.
SONIC 4 FUCK YEAH
Just Cause 2
Red Dead Redemption
AC: Episodes if that's end of this year
After seeing some videos of Red Dead Redemption, it is on my must-have list for this year. It looks like an improvement over GTAIV set in the Wild West, which can only mean good things.
Also, Heavy Rain's demo convinced me to buy it and so far its great. If you're not into QTEs I wouldn't recommend it, but otherwise its got a very interesting storyline and some crazy action scenes.
Well, I'll chime in:
AC: Episodes of course; I hope it comes out this year.
The Last Guardian. I have no idea of the release date but it's the reason I got a PS3 for my birthday.
Splinter Cell: Conviction. I just love stealthy games!
Was The Last Guardian that game that had this Shadow of The Colossus ambience? Is there any info on that other than the trailer?
Well spotted! The Last Guardian definitely has that Shadow of the Colossus ambience, because it's by the same creator. Fumito Ueda, #2 on my list of "People I Want To Give A High-Five To". Almost no information other than the jaw-dropping trailer (I guess I'm pretty biased ). I'm sure it'll be worth the wait though.
I just read some more Halo: Reach reviews for the BETA that drops May 3rd, and apparently the multiplayer is almost as good as Battlefield's and maybe even better than Modern Warfare's. Seriously, they've completely revamped the series, and for the better. It's apparently so good, in fact, that it's turned the head of gr's most notorious Halo-Hater, so you know it has to be awesome. Here's two articles about the BETA:

it's pretty bad, because it's just a God of War rip-off. it doesn't live up to GoW...and most of the demo has boobs just right in the camera. lol
