i've told you about the Wheel of Time series (although noone seems to care)
but now that i'm waiting for the next book to come out i've started reading The hitchhikers guide to the galaxy.
it's the whole series bound into one book.

it's a needed change of pace from the many years of reading fantasy

Right now, i'm reading a book about a German detective in Berlin in 1934 who hates the Nazi occupation of Germany, investigating the murders of two people, one of whom is a Jewish boxer that no-one but him cares that the boxer has been killed. It's called If the Dead Rise Not, by Phillip Kerr, I think its really good so far, and apparently the first in a series of novels about the character.

Thanks to SBIzokronus for the fantastic sig!

I love, love, love the Wheel of Time series. Probably my favorite "epic" fantasy series.

I've got a whole bunch of books that I need to read, not including stuff for class. I think last I checked I've got somewhere around fifteen books on my shelf that I haven't read yet. The last book I started reading was Triplanetary, book one of E.E. "Doc" Smith's Lensman series. Classic pulp sci-fi.

I'm currently reading several Wilbur Smith books (from the Egypt series) which makes me want an Egyptian AC setting even more! Lots of people think they're not very well written but I really enjoy them. I think I prefer the ones set in Ancient Egypt (some are set in the present with archaelogists discovering things linked to the other books) as they have loads of detail about the culture and treachery, much like in ACII Wink

I'm also re-reading Harry Potter for about the 8th time Smile

If you don't mind me asking, how old are people on this site. Just in general, are most people adults?

Probably best not cluttering up Rob's topic with this, but I turn 18 this October, I know some of the others are older.

Thanks to SBIzokronus for the fantastic sig!

The only book I'm currently reading is work related: "Realistic Image Synthesis Using Photon Mapping" by Henrik Wann Jensen. It's a real page-turner. Laughing out loud

The demographics of our members skew young. More than half are age 13 to 19.

I guess I'll wait for the movie - and then we can discuss it over on the "Movies That Don't Suck" thread.

I'm currently reading "London 1945", about..... London in 1945. I pretty much read only history.

As far as age, I'll proudly own to being 53.

Yurkle: now that you're the first one i've seen who's of both the WoT and AC worlds i have to bring this up.

there is in the first game a town crier that yells something about: "The Shai'tan is everywhere. watching , wating"......etc

please tell me i'm not the only one who gets a bad feeling whenever he says that.
do it, or i will send the trollocs at you Smile

Eh. I see it more from the historical perspective - it is Arabic for "Adversary," after all. Jordan just adapted it for his own work.

World War Z. Pretty good actually, I like how it uses the different points of view to create a somewhat diverse view of the world.
The Divine Comedy which I think I'll never end, as I started last year and I'm still on Purgatory.
And a bunch other novels of Cervantes, which are obligatory in school's Spanish class.

i've been reading a swedish- trilogy called Arn.
it's about a nobleman, who is at a young age forced to join a monestary, there he learns both warrior-stuff and monk-stuff.

eventually for stupid reasons that i can't bother to go into he goes to The Holy land as a knight Templar for about 20 years, befriends Saladin, fights some battles, etc.
i haven't read the third book yet.

i loved the movies based on this series, but this is the first time i can say that the movies are better than the books.

The hitchhikers galaxy is a load of random shiz that Douglas Adams put together. I humbly believe it deserves its place in the plethora of books that fall under the oxymoron.... modern classics.

But no seriously dude, its pretty random.

In one part of the book, Melvin (a personal robot.... slave/assisstant) causes a whole ship's onboard computer system to self destruct/ commit suicide due to Melvin explaining it his view of the universe. <- this is actually a significant event in the story's plot.

I think his name is Melvin? I completely forget lol.

Thanks for confirming the average ages Stab. I thought I felt a little old here. It also explains how a lot of you guys have a ton of time. I'm an old man here at 29.

I've just started the Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood book. I'm also in the middle of The Emporer's Tomb by Steve Berry.

The Templars were framed.

There are actually 2. Check out my post on Assassin's Creed Books. The books are Assassin's Creed: Renaissance and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. They follow Ezio's story from ACII and AC:B. They ignore the modern day aspect of the games. The author, Oliver Bowden, takes some creative liberties with the storyline, so that the books are not identical to the games

The Templars were framed.
