This game looks really interesting. It reminds me quite a bit of both Batman and Infamous.

The transition from cutscene to game is unbelievable, the graphics don't change a bit. With the freedom the player seems to have, there must be an infinite amount of different things to do in the game. This looks so promising.

I really tried avoiding this game when i was reading all the hype over YouTube and other gaming sites. But seriously the game deserves it. You know, its something new. What gamers have been asking for since...like forever.

The whole idea of using hacking to your advantage is just so creative and somewhat original. Unless, ubisoft took this from some dude who wrote an unsuccessful book Tongue .

Also, joey i see the whole batman thing. But infamous? How.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which

Oh, damn. I guess since both of you have ACIII pics it confused me. And i didn't feel like scrolling up and you'd be the most likely person to mention batman here, besides me. So yeah. Lolz.

It does remind of inFamous, mainly because of the modern day town I think. Especially those elevated railways, which you interact a lot with in inFamous.

Yup, that's what I meant when I mentioned inFamous. The dark, urban atmosphere, the overhead railway and the manipulation of electricity/technology are all very reminiscent of it.

It sounds and looks impressive. Apparently there will be a sort of multiplayer where your actions affect other players indirectly. ([url=http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/06/06/watch-dogss-second-character-was-another-player-online-is-in-the-dna-of-watchdogs/[/url])

Could be a very fun game. Can't wait to hear/see more.

I think the atmosphere isn't quite as dark as Infamous. To me it feels like Heavy Rain/GTA/Max Payne. The hacking is totally unprecednted though. I can't think of any open-word game that afforded you that much control over the many facets of the city.

Personally, I would say inFamous and Heavy Rain are both pretty dark. Tongue

Anyway, I totally agree on the hacking aspect of the game. I just hope it really is as open and varied as is suggested/I imagine it to be.

In an era clouded by generic military/space FPS and games lacking a strong story and narrative, only few have ever broke away from this cycle. Deus Ex Human Revolution, Infamous, Heavy Rain, AC, and LA Noire has accomplished this marvelous feat. Watch_Dogs is the next thing.

Bearing in mind that the graphics are being processed by the PC, there's no doubt in my mind that the PS3 will be capable of running it - give or take several resolutions and some screen tearing. 360, on the other hand...

I disagree. Watch_Dogs just looks too good for anything current gen, so I bet we won't be seeing this game until another 2 or 3 years.

Release delayed until June 2014. Sad Crying Angry

Ubisoft stock dropped 26% on news of the delay. 26%!! Shock FLAE's eye roll

More time to play ACIV first though. Big smile Wink

That's pretty good news IMO. Watch Dogs is not in any way a current-gen title.

Well, it is in one way, Phi: it's releasing on current gen!

The 26% drop was in relation to that delay, the crew also being delayed, and rayman legends and splinter cell: blacklist both performing below sales expectations.

Smart decision. This fall is getting saturated with too many AAA games. Not to mention that we're living in a recession. Not to mention that it'd be going up against AC4.

If avoiding AC releases were part of their thinking, then Watch_Dogs would never be released at this point.

Sure, there's competition, but when you're competing with only a handful of other games on systems that have no backwards compatibility, PLUS your game is one of people's most anticipated launch games... this decision didn't come easily to them, and honestly, AC4 probably had nothing to do with it.

I just won another $200 GameStop gift card! Now I have about $350 worth. Time to buy some games...

Watch Dogs comes out on May 27, so I plan to pre-order that and also pick up AC: Liberation HD (a $20 download). Any other suggestions?

If you don't have Bonfire of Vanities anymore (hint hint) that is a good start (but I'm a little sure if you've downloaded it before you own it and can download it again for free). Also if you want to save up for a next gen console and of course the next AC game. Now if you're looking for other kinds of games...

Skyrim has a better stealth system than Oblivion, but the missions are slow paced.
Ever play the Metal Gear Solid games?
I've heard good things about Dishonored.
Give Arkham Asylum another chance. It's great!

Dishonored is the tits. You should get it (any one of you).

The bad thing about Dishonored is that you can't replay levels with all of your unlocked abilities/upgrades, so all that time unlocking everything that you wanted is deemed pointless. I stopped playing after realizing that. It would be worth buying if they kept your upgrades, but not to me.

Until you YouTube Prenatual and see him do a Nihilist Run of Dishonored where he doesn't use any Abilities, doesn't Kill anyone, doesn't use any Items and basically plays the entire game the most crippled way possible while still making it look in-freaking-sane. I love Prenatual, favorite YouTuber of all time.

I know this topic is supposed to be about Watch_Dogs (btw, what happened to the underscore? is it still there in marketing, etc?) but as it seems to have switched to a "PLAY DISHONORED" topic this week... Dishonored is only $12 on Amazon right now with free 2 day shipping if you have Prime.

after playing a little bit of Dishonored, I can say that I like the overall game well enough, but I really really don't like first person games. I think that must be why I haven't enjoyed it as much as some people here. I'll probably finish it once to see where it goes, but that's likely it. also, the 'actions control outcome' is a nice thing, but it also hampers my ability to enjoy as I'll just restart a section if I don't like what happened and don't want it to negatively affect the rest of the game.

back to Watch_Dogs. I'm excited for this game again. however, I fear that it won't be as impressive on last gen consoles. that said, I had the same fear for AC4, and Ubisoft delivered a hell of a game for the 360 gameplay wise, so maybe I shouldn't be worried about the last gen Watch_Dogs experience.

One tip is Aim for a bad end run the first time you play it, it makes the last bit more more exciting, that and you get to use more of your powers~ :3

As for watch_dogs I've been feeling rather meh about it these last couple of weeks thanks to what seems to be the downgrade they did with it, even on PS4 and XBOX1...
There's also the whole DLC bit, which is funny cause all the content can be gotten via the Season pass which makes all the Pre-Order deal seem such a waste~ 8-P
(Pic is a bit big so gonna put it under spoilers)

Spoiler: Highlight to view

Though I am still somewhat intrested, though PC seems to be my best choice...

I'll be acquiring Watch_Dogs on release day, and will be documenting similarities to Assassin's Creed, or game design fundamentals carried over from Assassin's Creed. I will make a new Thread about this and spearhead discussion on how Watch_Dogs' game design fundamentals could be used for later Assassin's Creed games.

Watch_Dogs uses a new engine called Disrupt, and is only loosely Anvil-based, if at all.

The coming weeks will be very interesting for most people who decide to pitch in and talk.

TheHiddenBlade has been a bit quiet lately, and DarkAlphabetZoup aims to stop this, seeing as Watch_Dogs is in more ways than one, a spiritual successor to Assassin's Creed. A bit odd to call it that, since AC has not run its course just yet, but you all know what I'm talking about.

I don't guarantee that I'll be able to "start the party" but oh my god, rest assured that I will have many, many things to say about Assassin's Creed: Chicago.

Ubisoft made a pretty good commercial for Watch_Dogs that I came across on YouTube the other day. Did you see it? It featured hidden cameras and people that experienced hacking into cars and traffic lights with their own smartphone.

I haven't been looking forward to Watch Dogs, but then again I'm currently not in the mood for any new games. From someone at work I heard it's going to be like a cross between Grand Theft Auto and Assassins Creed, so maybe it'll be worth looking into.

So I hope you plan to make some vids, DAZ.

That's what I had in mind. Plot features will be discussed in a separate thread. This is purely in terms of game design, mechanics and more of the reasoning behind the design angle.

If my PC Core speed was 1 GHz faster per core... If only they had better multicore support, by i7 would crank out that sucker. But no; apparently games only use two cores...
