This is something I've been wondering about. The voice acting is one of AC's strong features. I'm not really stressing the thought, nor am i ignoring it. Its just...there. I heard Connor's voice actor in actually Native American. That's good., Ezio's voice was,and still is, my favorite voice outta him and Altair. Just made him bad ass.
I hope Connor's voice isn't doesn't have a heavy Native American accent. It would kinda ruin it for me. Ezio's voice had a Italian accent. But it wasn't over-done,know what i mean.
From what I've heard/read,Ubi has been workin' on crowd physics A LOT. Making the world alive and realistic more than ever. I hope they did something with the crowd voice acting also.Cause the crowd is just plan annoying. Also in revelation's we were promised city events. Yeah..that was such a great, game changing experience [sarcasm]. I think in ACIII, listening to crowds conversations should open side missions or investigations, like in batman Arkham city. And no, these shouldn't be scripted, they should be completely random.
Any ideas?.
I think city events got cut waaaay down from what they originally were. as it is, there's like two. I always thought the crowd voice acting was ok.
They always nail the voice acting so I'm ok with anything. I just hope they don't get Tara Strong, SHE IS EVERYWHERE! SHE IS LIKE A FEMALE NOLAN NORTH!.. Which you know, is already default in the AC voice cast, and could cause a space-time fracture.
Kevin Conroy, anyone?
Who will Fred Tatasciore play this time?
Kevin Conroy, anyone?
YES
Any ideas?.
It's kind of funny reading your sig after reading this.
I did have an idea about simulated crime, might post something about that (for city events, not voice acting).
I only ran across one "random event" in ACR. I could do it as many times as I liked. It was just carrying a few boxes down to a port. I got money from it. I never saw any other event in the game like that.
Back on topic: They'll do fine with the voice acting. But the last couple have been kind of exaggerated tones with the NPCs. I hope they give them more serious and realistic tones. There is such a term as "overacting."
EVERY AC game has had overacting. I'd say the Ezio trilogy was a step up from AC1, though, wouldn't you? (crowd voice wise)

Actually, I was thinking of the Ezio trilogy as being the most overacted when I typed that...
Really? I found AC1's crowd dialogue to be very limited and boring. "Why is he doing that!" "He's going to hurt himself!" The Ezio ones were more colorful and interesting. They revealed things about the speaker's personality. Of course it lost it's charm after a billion or so times, but the AC1 ones never really had any charm to begin with. Plus they sounded like they were recorded on terrible mics, somehow.
I can understand you thinking that they were more flamboyant and dramatically voiced, but I wouldn't say it was too over-the-top. I also liked in Brotherhood and Revelations, if you enter a stationary blend group, they will talk amongst themselves, with a fairly wide array of things about their lives.
If real people in crowds saw an Assassin in real life, they wouldn't be colorfully speaking. They'd be thinking the first thing that came to mind like "what's he doing" or "he'll hurt himself" in plain tones. Maybe it was the Italian accents that made it seem like it was too much.
Yeah, but real life isn't designed to be entertaining for as long as possible. Entertainment, by definition, is. ; )
I'm not saying that the crowd acting in any AC game has been perfect, but I think it was acceptable. Expecially by normal videogame standards. Look at skyrim's three voice actors! (exaggeration, in case someone doesn't get it.)
I think that the Ezio trilogy had impeccable voice acting. I just love how the NPC and shop owners say unique things when you approach or buy something from their shop.
I'm personally hoping for Conner to happen among a Native American Chief sitting down and gets in a conversation with him where he says:
I used to be an adventurer like you, but then I took an arrow in the knee.

I also like when you DON'T buy something from the shop owners, and they say things like, to paraphrase drastically, "My goods are too good for you anyway."

Haha. I'm for this, but a lot of pissy gamers might see it and refuse to play. So silleh.
