Wow. I think that this looks even better than the Sword of Altair. It looks menacing and powerful to have. Though I'm not sure if the metal is fashioned from the Piece of Eden.
I bet that the counter animations consists of brutal stabs and impalement!

Someone's pessimistic. 
I've already read YouTube comments where people complain that the Impaler's sword looks too unrealistic, too generic, and that the Sword of Altair looks much more simpler and elegant.
I say that that's complete B.S.
Personally, I think that the swords in the AC franchise looks and swings realistically. The swords themselves are quite detailed if you look closely. The counter-animations, though flashy, do their work for the most part. Yes, carrying a heavy bastard sword may create some problems of weight distribution when free-running, but hey - it's a video-game!
Who cares! You're not suppose to take it seriously. Yes, occasionally, I like to nitpick about the series flaws and debate about the inconsistencies (like we do so many times on this site for the sake of clarification or education), but for the most, I just like to kick back and watch Ezio slice and dice guards up!
Shouldn't come as a surprise, but I like the sword of Altaïr better. 
I like simple, elegant things. I can't help it.
It's pretty badass, though.
