During the assassination of Marco Barbaringo in my second playthrough I came across something I don't think anyone else has. Because Eagle's Bruise means no hidden blade (and to be more challenging, no fleeing from battle) I knocked out everyone on the boat and then proceeded to knock out the remaining guards at the party (this is where I was attacked by the menacing brute violinist, red). After finishing the dirty work I proceeded to exit the way I came in. It turns out that because Marco wasn't registered as dead yet (only KO'ed) the guards at the front gate were still present and hadn't rushed into the party to attempt to kill me. Among these guards? Dante.
So roughly four guards and Dante come charging at me across the bridge. I'm stunned a little at first so I run into a more open area. I dispatched the first four easily and then reduced Dante to his critical state, which is the state during combat where he cannot be killed, even when hit by a sword or punch. I decided I still would drown him so I led him to one of the docks outside of the party and eventually knocked him into the water.
Now you may remember in Ian's video regarding Dante's assassination that you could assassinate Dante prior to when the game wants you to (in a similar fashion as well). If you're willing to try this so that you can kill Dante 3 times early in the game you're more than welcome.
Step 1: To kill Marco without any weapons, climb up on the mast and pounce on him (Lock + High Profile +B button/Circle). Once you get up, stomp on Marco twice. This will automatically KO him.
Step 2: Kill all the guards on board the ship, and then kill all of the guards at the party. Whether or not you use weapons (I didn't) is up to you.
Step 3: Cross the bridge and engage Dante and the last 4 guards. When fighting, try to avoid going outside the yellow circle.
Step 4: Lead Dante to the water (there's a dock nearby the entrance to the party) and attempt to push him off. With fists equipped, punch him. When he auto-blocks use the time he needs to reposition himself to punch him. If done correctly and near water, Dante will fall in and drown.
And that's it! Any other questions on how to drown him you can refer to me or Ian. Also, this may have been a one-time glitch, but I'm assuming it's not because Dante is always outside the party's entrance while Marco is alive.
nice find flae! are you going to make a vid on this so we can all see?
I've tested it, and it works.
That's just awesome, geez Dante is like the comic relief character that like.. is supposed to die FOUR times, yet somehow miraculously lives to see another day.
1) Marco got him stabbed in the SIDE OF THE FACE! COME ON!
2) Drowned by Ian in the big battle with Bartolomeo on Ezio's side.
3) Drowned by FLAE after he went all Fight Club on Marco's ass.
4) Stabbed by Ezio (canon).
We'll see if he makes a surprise appearance in ACIII...
Ian I can't make a video because I don't have a capture card or even a camera, but if you're planning on a Marco Barbaringo assassination variety pack part 3 (or perhaps a video entitled Dante the Invincible) you're more than welcome to!
