Yes, I've been with this problems for over 2 months now. I know it's not really important Stab, but it kind of tick me off.

It's hard for me to address this issue because I've never observed it myself. I just cleared the site's cache but suspect that won't help.

Phi and James, do I have your permission to masquerade as (i.e. switch to) your user names to diagnose this problem? I wouldn't see or change your passwords and wouldn't post anything under your names. It might appear to others that you're online and some comments may get marked as read before you've had a chance to read them.

If anyone else wants help, specify which forum has the phantom comment and give me permission to step in.

Actually Stab, I'm still having the issue. There are 3 unread posts in the Assassin's Creed forum, and 2 other in Brotherhood's. Maybe there is something I can do on this end?

Actually, you three may all be experiencing the same phenomenon. Try reading this comment and see if that fixes your unread post count. Just click on the link.

Here's what happened:

1. In November, Altair92 posted a video in the Revelations forum.
2. Ian promoted it to the front page and several people commented on it.
3. In May, Fed981 added another comment.

You guys may not have noticed Fed's comment since the video was no longer on the front page. It was counted as an unread comment in the Revelations forum because the video was originally posted there. There's no way to mark the comment as read from the forums. Something like this would not happen with comments on videos posted directly to the front page by Ian and myself.

This may be a bug with the way we convert forum posts to front-page stories. I generally use Recent Posts, which picks up new comments on old front-page stories. Today I "bumped" Fed's comment, so it should still be on the first page of Recent Posts.

Oh. I noticed those while masquerading as you but didn't address them because I thought you only had a problem with the Revelations forum (like Phi).

You must have found the other 5 unread comments by paging through Recent Posts. Glad it worked out. You're welcome.

I don't know what to do. I pushed "mark all read" multiple times, I read the message multiple times, I really don't know. Please help!

I'm looking into it. This comment popped up for me once but it has remained unread ever since. I figured that Cheese had updated it.
