There are two Bombs in Unity that I don't really understand how to use effectively.
The Stun Bomb, and the Money Bomb.
Stun Bomb I've long written off as just "a bad Smoke Bomb." As in, it does everything the Smoke Bomb does, but it does it worse. So there's really no reason to unlock that skill except for flavor. The game itself and its tutorials/in-game documentation make no effort whatsoever to distinguish it from Smoke Bomb in a meaningful way, or to explain why you would want Stun Bomb when Smoke Bomb exists and covers all of its uses.
Money Bomb is a different story. I haven't really explored it very much, and I feel that like Stun Bomb, it's not really an important, relevant or useful item. We used to execute the Perma-Blend glitch with it, which was admittedly pretty awesome before it was patched out, but beyond that, what is its actual usefulness as a legitimate Mechanic? I get the sense that there's more to it than I think, and I'd really, really like to understand how to use it properly in a powerful, practical, impactful way, similarly to how Smoke Bombs and Cherry Bombs can be used.
Cherry Bomb was communicated poorly to the player despite it working consistently as a mechanic when used properly (guard MUST BOTH have Line of Sight AND be in Range of where the Cherry Bomb pops) but aside from that the Smoke Bomb and Cherry Bomb have definitively practical uses. They make sense from a gameplay perspective, they're quickly understandable at a glance and the rest comes from applying them to different situations. Their power and effectiveness is undeniable and impossible to miss. The Poison Bomb does Stealthy AoE Damage over Time, which is helpful for killing groups and is definitely a powerful item. Its power and effectiveness is also undeniable and impossible to miss.
The Stun Bomb I just don't really care about and have written off as worthless/redundant (another Smoke Bomb, but bad... But if you know something I don't, please share.)
The Money Bomb, I seek to understand better. It's a freaking mystery to me.
Post below anything and everything about Money Bombs, your thoughts on them, how you've used them, IF you've used them, whether you think they're as useless as Stun Bomb or whether they have some genuinely concrete effects buried inside them.
Use money bomb to attract civilians for a temporary blend group.
Right, I get that, the tool's in-game entry says that and I've done it once or twice but that seems crazy underwhelming.
Is that it?
Are there any interesting interactions or things you can do with that?
Is this actually a powerful ability?
Is it a gamechanger the way Cherry and Smoke Bombs are?
Do these citizens become Blendable even while crouching to pick up the coins? Or do you have to Wait for them to stand back up before walking through them?
Why are there no notable video examples of this being used in a powerful way?
I'd like to know more about this too, I just finished Unity and never saw any point in wasting sync points on a crappy smoke bomb and a money bomb. Money bombs shouldn't really exist. Like is it not harder to make a bomb full of money rather than just, I don't know, throwing money on the ground?
Money Bomb is pretty much a joke or simply a Trophy/Achievement-getter. It would make more sense as a coin option (like other stealth games do) where you have a single coin that can be used as a distraction for guards. They can even bend down to pick it up and let you sneak past them like a ghost. How is that not an AC mechanic? Apparently throwing fistfuls of your own money makes more sense to Ubisoft.
Check out my two videos on La Touche on this site, pretty effective use of Money Bomb imo.
(I also replied to your reddit thread, saw that thread first)
