If there are to be puzzles for AC3, here is how I want them done
I want it to be so that it is impossible ( unless you guess a lot) to solve the answers without having to do research outside the game.
Basically, there will be clues in the puzzles of where to research, all of them could be found with google I guess, and say a date of a war would be the key used to solve some puzzle. No idea how they would implement it, but it would be kinda interesting
That's an interesting idea. I doubt it would be very popular though, as people want to play a game a game, not do homework. There's also the fact that it wouldn't mesh so well with the game itself, unless they actually have Desmond jumping out of the animus and hopping onto a laptop.
Definitely an interesting idea though. Maybe for a web game that can provide unique codes to unlock stuff within the game?
Oh i forgot to mention it was optional lol. It wouldnt matter anyway, people just cheat on the puzzles that are too hard for your average gamer anyway. There could be one normal set for the truth video and maybe some optional ones.
Also maybe you could have to look up a certain famous picture that the puzzle refers to to find your answer. Basically I just want some hardcore mode that isnt supposed to be solved easily or even in one sitting. I liked solving the ones in AC2 and B though, they were hard, but this idea is totally different that I havent seen in video gaming and would kinda be like MGS how they break the 4th wall ( eg change controller ports to stop mantis reading your mind, finding the codec number on the back of the disk case, longer you take a break from the game the longer your character rests and heals etc)
That would be a sick idea.
+ 1 for the Metal Gear references.
i always hated the goddamn puzzles.... it was so annoying searching for them and then do dumb stuff like picking out the right pictures etc. I HATE IT
Its optional yet you did it anyway...
Yeah, if you don't like it, then don't do it. Some players like a little brain teaser now and then.
Not to mention how darned smart you feel when completing one of those GD'ed decoder wheel things.
Whatever they do, no more Ancient Sumerian Numbers. I literally was yelling at the TV at one point...
I would have to wholeheartedly agree with that. I can handle numbers that I can understand, because then I can actually find patterns. All the hyroglyphic crap was just BS. Still, I enjoy that they're challenging, I'd just prefer if they had more variety in the challenging things besides code wheels.
Recently I just went through the ACB Truth puzzles, I gotta say I hope if there is another "Truth" with S16 there should be less glitches that are really annoying like the music going out of sync or Desmond spazzing out in the animus chair (even after the patch that would supposedly fixed it)

Sorry this is not the greatest video I found but it kinda gives a pointer
The final 'maze' section after solving all the Rift Puzzles is really poor. I couldn't get Desmond to grab hold of the damn red handholds on the walls . He kept running up and falling down again. Eventually I solved it with 'catch ledge' but it was really frustrating. Desmond in general feels very glitchy and awkward to me. I don't feel like his free-running is very smooth and it all jsut feels a bit rushed. Obviously if he becomes the main character, this will be changed
He's been an Assassin for less than three months. Even with Altair AND Ezio's abilities, cut him some slack!
Ha, yeah, he's probably been trained in his younger years how to climb and parkour fairly well, but he ran away from all that. It's been years since he's actually had to practice it, most likely. So he's a little rusty. Also, he's been sitting on his ass all 2.5 games.
Well at first I did think it was intentional to make Desmond look less well trained. But some bits just seem rushed. The inability to grab a simple handhold has nothing to do with Desmond, it's just a minor and annoying glitch.
At one point during ACB Truth "Video" I somehow turned around after failing a jump and went the the way I came without even realising it... wasted so much time. How could I have known the whole area keeps changing and loading I couldnt recognise where I was or where to go
I get this strange feeling the truth puzzles are gonna look like this...
they have to make them like brotherhood they where annoying but fun.But no more wheel i hatted that thing so much i cry ed after completing them.
they can´t be to hard still desmond isn´t a genius
I actually liked the Sumerian counting...
But that was because I already knew how it worked.

How do we know that Desmond isn't a genius? He's put a lot of things together quicker than the rest of his team of Assassins, and he keeps a lot of secrets.
would a genius be a bartender not that their something wrong with that
would a genius be a bartender not that their something wrong with that
All we know is that he's smart enough to be more than a bartender. The reason he took that job was because it was low profile, and allowed him to move around a lot, since every city has bars. He knew that the Templars were after him, and he's obviously not going to take a job as a scientist, when science is one of the areas that they have completely controlled and monitored. All brainy jobs are probably monitored by Abstergo.
Literally as I was reading these new posts, I heard Lucy and Desmond speaking. Lucy asked, "Have you ever read Chaucer?" Desmond replies, "Who?". Lucy says, "Yeah, not for you...".
This doesn't necessarily say he's not a genius, but if you look at his other experiences, he's extremely witty and intuitive. He hides it with his humor.
And why would a man who ran away from a group called the "Assassins" try to find a job where he did noticeable things? He had to stay incognito all those years. Being a bartender was a great choice for that. It paid for what little he most likely had.
Desmond is the type of person who's good at getting other people talking, and then kinda steps back and interjects with a witicism every once an a while. To me, it always feels like he's analyzing them. Not to mention how he never sends an email of his own, but just reads the others emails.
I ALWAYS get the feeling that he's never told Lucy, Shaun and Rebecca everything he's known. That's probably why people complain he's a boring character: he keeps his own self locked up inside of him. Revelations is the first real character development we're going to get for him.
He does seem like the observant type. I've always been kind of quiet in groups. I've never been one to say the first word. I'd let others talk, get to know them through body action and tone of their voices, then I'd grow comfortable and jump in when necessary.
i´m not saying he can´t be smart but come one he can solve puzzles that a annalist can´t do with a computer.

I know a lot of incredibly smart people who have jobs far below what their intelligence levels would normally indicate. Maybe Desmond just enjoys working in a bar. If I didn't have to support a family I wouldn't be doing what I'm doing. I'd be doing something that I enjoy, rather than whatever provides me with the best way to pay the bills.
my mom is a cleaning laddie and she is very smart
also their are far better jobs to be incognito like sewer worker
I would imagine that he chose bartending for the environment and lack of stress, as well as enjoyment. There are many jobs that would be more incognito. Bartenders are actually pretty rememberable. I can remember lots of bartenders. They tend to stand out a bit, even when you've had a lot to drink.

and you could see the jersey shore cast every night.......lmao. but seriously i get what your saying but what a stupid ass job choice to me..... think about how many numbers he gave out or were given to him. and those calls could have been traced. or there could have been undercover agents and due to all the people he would notice.

Why would he give out any numbers? He specifically said that he was undercover in every way except for his motorcycle license.

He didn't have to give out his own number, and even then he probably chose not to receive a lot given his incognito lifestyle. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't even have a cell phone. He needed a low-profile job that paid bills and that's exactly what bartending does because of tips. Bartenders make an absurd amount of money off of tips for the work that they're doing. Plus, this also makes most of the money he earns physical, rather than through checks or electronically, which helps to prevent being traced through bank accounts.
He's not an idiot but he probably escaped from the Assassins with very few qualifications and no experience to get a more academic job. Add to that the fact that he needed to stay low-profile, and bartending seems perfect. Easy to move around, decent enough wage, no qualifications/experience needed and low-profile enough not to be caught.
Desmond is a quiet character and sometimes seems a little stupid or boring but hopefully Revelations will show that there's plenty going on behind that generic, largely emotionless face of his...
I'd really like to see some scenes from when Desmond was training as a kid in the Assassin farm, then him escaping, then him having to run from the Templars that eventually captured him and took him to Abstergo through a modern city. Unless they just threw a bag over his head and drove away with him in a van...
I imagine his life being as simple as possible. Most likely living in a not-so-good apartment, making enough money to pay for gas and rent, most likely keeping a cash stash inside his mattress or somewhere discreet.
i didn´t say he was dumb but he acted a bit stupid
Being observant and witty isn't being stupid. That's actually a really strategic way of conversing.
remember wen this topic went over the puzzles and not over desmond´s intelligence
Intelligence has a lot to do with one's way of figuring out complex puzzles. I'd say we're still technically on the subject. We've just taken the story point of view into question.
yeah yeah i guess
