Are you using a device with mobile internet? If so, that's the problem. This site wasn't really designed for mobile internet.
Mobile browsers aren't very sophisticated and have poor Java support, not to mention zero Flash support. This site (as with most others) is pretty awkward on my iPhone. But that's the nature of mobile internet. It's very difficult to make websites work properly on mobile browsers without having to give up a lot of content or designing a parallel mobile-friendly version of the site. Neither option is a trivial undertaking and is beyond the scope of most all-in-one sites like this.
If you're not using mobile internet, then you probably just have a really low screen resolution or an out-dated web browser. Time to upgrade.
no, i'm on my completely stationary computor right now. here's what it looks like to me

maybe it's a resolution thing
dunno sorry Rob
the low screen resolution limits the amount of content in the middle. i'll see if we can put in an automatic resize function for smaller screens. thanks for raising the issue.
You've got firefox, use AddBlockPlus

Looks like you're at 1024x768 resolution. That's not so bad, but the maps are 725 pixels wide by themselves. Does your monitor work if you set your resolution to 1280x1024? That would solve your issue, as long as it still looks okay for everything else. Edges might become too soft, depending on your monitor. Fonts would appear smaller, but that's an easy fix via Control Panel.
Ian's suggestion would also work. It would cause the middle pane of the site to automatically snap to the width of the maps and the entire page would have a horizontal scrollbar for you. That sounds like a good idea to me.
Excellent job, all three of you!
I LOVE the maps! I must say great subject and thank you to you guys as well for all the hard work.
