How many Steam PC gamers are on this board? I've primarily been sticking to PC games lately and I do most of my gaming through Steam. A few of the multiplayer games I have:
- Portal 2
- Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
- Splinter Cell: Conviction
- Borderlands
- Grand Theft Auto IV
- Terraria
- Dead Island (coming soon)
If anybody wants to do some gaming, look me up on Steam (username is Asaic). I live in North America and mostly game at night.
Edit:
I should probably add that I'd prefer to game with people of a certain level of maturity. I'm in my 30's, so you won't be gaming with a kid of you join up with me. I don't really care about your ages though; it's not so much about age as it is about the behavior. Act like an adult and I'll treat you like one.

Got you on there now. What games do you play? Doesn't seem like you play any of the ones on my list.
I joined for the heck of it, but mostly just play DC Universe. I'd like to get a game with lots of replay value, has multiplayer, isn't too expensive, and is something PC users on here actually play. Borderlands, Dead Island, and Splinter Cell Conviction seem fun to me for PC.
I have an xbox controller, but the tip is missing. It must have detached when I was packing it up. :/ Otherwise, I'd be playing ACB on PC with you. If I can find the missing part (and if the PC version has good servers and such) I might invest in ACR for PC along with the xbox version.
how do i join ?

Any multiplayer or co-op demos you want to try out? I'm still getting used to the keyboard control style. I think I might invest more into PC gaming now, though. Seems like my kind of thing.

Just go to http://store.steampowered.com/ and download the client and start an account. Your PC needs to be good enough to play games and you'll need a credit card (Steam games aren't free), but there are always great deals going on. I got Batman: Arkham Asylum and Borderlands both for 5 bucks each, for example.
I've got Steam, but currently I live at my parent's house, out in the middle of nowhere - so my internet connection here is either dialup or tethering from my phone; the first is too slow, the second uses data way too quickly. All my game downloading has to be done elsewhere.

The main one I'm waiting for at the moment is Dead Island. I'm not big on demos as the gameplay is more a tease than anything, then if I like it it's tougher to wait for the game to arrive.
I find that having a 360 controller is practically a necessity for PC gaming. Most games are far better with mouse/keyboard (especially first-person games), but some are much better with a controller. The Assassin's Creed games are better with a controller IMO. The mouselook is just too loose and you can't move at varying speeds with the keyboard, not to mention the lack of 360° movement (limited to 8 directions on the keyboard). I'd hate to try to blend into the NPC crowd in ACB multiplayer with a keyboard for movement.
You should be able to buy a replacement for your missing piece of the 360 controller cable online. I can't imagine it would cost more than a few bucks.

Yikes. Well, when your situation changes I'd be happy to game with you.
I didn't realize dial-up was still in use in some places. That's some old school stuff right there. I remember working tech support in the 90's and I could tell people what bps their modem connected at just by listening to the sounds.
I can't buy anything for at least another week and a half. I had to cancel my debit card because of an unauthorized $93 transaction that happened earlier in August. So I can't technically get any new games. That's why I asked about demos...which are free. XD
And that also means no new part for my controller for a while.

Do you have any Steam games yet? Maybe there's a demo or two out there we can try. We might be better to avoid controller-esque games though.
Whatever you find interesting, just let me know. I hate stuff like World of Warcraft, but my friend had me use the trial version as a test for my current laptop, so I'll do anything. haha
What about Conflict: Deniable Ops? I've wanted to try a FPS on PC but haven't had a chance to. And it's co-op. Not sure if it's worth it or not.

Heh. Yeah, we connect at like, 52kbps max out here. Usually it's closer to 40. I went from having a 20Mb connection at my apartment at school... to this. Yeah. And what's worse, it'd only be like a half-mile or so extension for us to get DSL out here, but none of the companies around here are willing to do it.
I didn't do much online gaming when I still had a decent internet connection, though. Just never been my thing, I guess.
My name on there is the same as before (Fly_Like_an_Eagle), though I likely won't be buying a game from Steam until Skyrim comes out in November.
i have Steam but i'm not actually using it.
i'm usually not a PC gamer, and only got steam because i won a free code for a game, but haven't actually tried it yet due to my computor being crap.
when i upgrade though, i expect to be playing alot of Team Fortress 2. i love that game on 360, but it's not getting any updates at all, so that could be fun to try on PC.
Valve also made TF2 free to play forever on Steam!

Mouse in AC2 is perfection, just took an hour or two, then it is wonderful, imo. Brotherhood just broke it somehow.
PS Team Fortress 2 is awesomeness.
I really want to play TF2, but I'm not sure what it's all about.

It is a team based FPS, similar to Battlefield: Bad Company, just subtract destructibility, add more teamwork, and add more hilarity.
You enter a match of a a certain type and work with your team to complete the objective by performing your class role. It takes a bit to get used to, but the classes are all unique and intriguing. It is free, you got nothing lose but the time it took Steam to download it to try. I have played it off and on for the last year or two, and while other games are gathering dust, I always return to it. Learn the classes, learn the maps, learn the game types, and they are a ball.
Quick run downs:
Game types:
CTF - Get the briefcase and bring it back to base/defend your case
King of the Hill - Capture the middle ground
Attack/Defend - Defend or Capture the Capture Points
Capture Points - Like Tug-of-War over 5 capture points, team that loses all 5 loses; Note: They typically must be captured in a specific order (from middle outwards towards enemy base)
Payload - Escort or stop the cart from reaching its destination
Payload Race: Payload, except both teams pushing and defending simultaneously
Classes:
Heavy - Walk slow, but carries a big gun and has tons of health
Medic - Your healing companion with the ability to make you invulnerable with their charged ability
Pyro - Typically run kamikaze attacks to disrupt the enemy, also are the primary anti-spy class
Soldier - Fires rockets, and can rocket jump with them, good splash damage
Demoman - Good at setting traps with stick bombs, or can spec with all melee gear to be a nuisance
Sniper - Sit back and snipe... Watch for those spies, though
Spy - Stealth and Disguise to join the enemy ranks, then destroy the Engineer's buildings or take out enemies wiht a backstab 1-hit-KO melee; avoid Pyros as their flames reveal you.
Engineer- Build teleporters, sentry turrets, and health/ammo dispensers.
Scout - Fastest and most maneuverable class, also the least health. But watch their double-jumps and shotguns.
Like I said, quick, but its just to give you the gist. A team that lacks any of these has a weakness.
P.S. Someone should make a Hidden Blade Steam Group.
if you want a good summary of the game and the style i think you should watch some of the meet the team videos

Also, a good series of review/gameplay tips:
Just downloaded Team Fortress 2.
Any of you guys up for playing Team Fortress 2? Haven't had the urge to really play it yet.
when i get home i'll check if i can get it to work
Added Joey, Asaic and FLAE to my friends list. I don't really play that much since I can barely run Portal on medium to low settings at a decent speed so I won't be much active, anyway, hope we can play some day.
Amon_Lau in case anyone is interested in adding me... :3
Just added you
so now that i got a better computer i can finally use Steam.
i'm lackking friends though.
