Did I say fart joke? Could have sworn I said dick joke. And you must admit that the finale had a whopper of a dick joke.
You probably said dick joke and I remembered it wrong. Oddly enough, that dick joke was the only clip I'd ever seen of Silicon Valley. One of the actors must have appeared on Conan and brought that clip of all things.
The thing I liked about the season one finale wasn't so much the dick joke but rather what happened on stage at TechCrunch Disrupt. That was inspiring and contained elements of how things usually go when working with new software.
Another thing that rings true is the running joke of the form "Making the world a better place through minimal message-oriented transport layers". It seems that every tech company I've worked with goes through a phase where they try to articulate their "core values" and "mission statement". The latter ends up being something like "Making the world a better place through" whatever nonsense they do.
All right. I'm all caught up with Silicon Valley. For some reason I thought season 5 was already out but it doesn't begin airing until March 2018.

... and ... ?
The season 1 finale is still my favorite episode (again, not because of the dick joke but rather Richard's flash of genius). Still, the other seasons have maintained a consistent level of quality. I'd like to see Big Head get more scenes. That character is hilarious! stabgal tried Silicon Valley but couldn't get into it. So it's something I watch alone, just as she watches Grace and Frankie when I'm not around.
I still laugh when I think of Russ putting his tequila on the delete key...
The whiteboard scene in the hotel room might be the hardest I've ever laughed at a TV show. The analytical way in which they approached that ridiculous exercise was incredible.
