Lol! I'm playing right now, and about five minutes ago i got this achievement!
When I read about this one I figured we'd hit it after just two or three good glides. Not so. Even off the tallest structures, it only counts for around 70m, so you have to jump and soar a long way at least 10 times in the game. That's a lot of work, especially when it doesn't really get you anywhere thanks to the low trajectory. You'll always get somewhere faster doing a normal leap of faith and then sprinting across the ground.
This game is kind of funny like that. Some of those guild challenges are ridiculous too. There are easy ones that they only ask you to do 5 times (but you'll probably have done 100 times during the story mode) and others you might have done just a few times but they want you to do it like 40 times for the challenge. Very uneven.
I find the parachute useful for getting to places you aren't supposed to go, provided they're below a taller climbable structure, and also for saving myself from bad falls. I don't mind it, at least it steers nice!

I spent this morning gold-medaling all the VT missions and replaying memories for full synchronization (the first part of the Castello during Memory Block 4 was a HUGE pain in the ass).
No, I haven't taken the time yet to get this achievement, and I'm probably going to make it my last one (you know, for kicks).
I tried for this but i didn't get it for some reason, even though i climbed to the very to of the Castel Sant'Angelo. I did manage to get that 'Glide for 500 meters' challenge after two jumps.
Is there a specific distance required to get the achievement?

What I did was I climbed to the top, to the VERY TOP, of this wooden spike like thing (a spire of sorts) reaching up into the sky. Once I was at the very top, I jumped towards one of the towers (towards where a flag is located on the other side of the tower) and activated the Parachute immediately after the jump. I got the trophy/achievement in flight, before I even let go of the Chute.

I've done this a bunch of times and none of the attempts gave me the achievement. I hit x to open the parachute imediatly after jumping off the spire, i don't know what i'm doing wrong.
