I just restarted ACII and it occurred to me that the game seems to be following an old movie storyline. The dissed, jealous, unhappy partner flips sides to gain power and appreciation. Do any of you guys see this as a possibility for Sean? I sure do. I'm not so sure his allegiance to the Assassins is as strong as his need for credit.
I forsee a clandestine meeting with Vidic in his future. Well, would make a great story anyway.

Here's to you as good as you are. Here's to me as bad as I am. As bad as I am, and as good as you are, I'm as good as you are, as bad as I am.

Man, I hope they don't go that way. Way too cliche, not to mention they would have done an absolutely terrible job at keeping it a surprise. Given the story thus far, I think the writers are a little smarter than that. I think the Shaun character would be smarter too; he wouldn't be so rude and vocally opposed if he was trying to hide his motives and blend in.

If anything, from a writing perspective, Shaun's attitude would be better served to throw the player's suspicion on him rather than someone else. That would still be a bit cliche, but at least it would be less obvious.

Sorry lilk, I just can't agree with you on this one. Smile

I agree with Asaic, but there is a possibility since he wasn't actually born into the Assassin Order...

What's Lucy's motivation, btw? Why is she so invested in the war?

I can see her killing the techy girl, when she discovers her doing some traitor thing. Maybe Lucy got so used to being treated like trash by Vidic that she can't deal with her new freedom. He's like a father to her.

It's not Sean. It's just not. If it's anyone, it's "techy girl" (I actually forget her name). She seems like the greatest asset for the Assassin's technology field. The Assassins know how important Desmond is. Wouldn't they send in their best to watch over him? It would be a huge loss if they were betrayed by her.

I also like al's theory. The "love interest" to Desmond would really be an unexpected turn in the series, giving us more "HOLY SH*T" moments.

It wouldn't make much sense for Lucy though. She's helping Desmond train and he's clearly from one of the most pure lineages of Assassins. If she were secretly working against them, she would likely be sabotaging the training and disguising data, etc. But things went really smoothly.

She was also the one who was bending over backwards to get Desmond into this whole thing. That's just not the behavior of a double agent. And don't forget everything she went through with Subject 16.

I think people are just fishing for some sort of conspiracy. As if the AC series wasn't already packed with them. Wink

I said Lucy would be a great idea, because 1. It's very unexpected, and 2. Vidic did a lot for her and they seem like they could have become like a father-daughter couple.

I think Rebecca would be an awesome traitor. She seems really naive and harmless, which is a pretty good cover.

I think they will follow a different cliche. Sean will get more annoying, but at one stage he will sacrifice himself to buy everyone more time, or do something nobel that results in his death. They do that sometimes in movies, the jerk isnt such a badguy after all, you respect him but its too late

This is kind of an interesting though actually. I always felt like Shaun was sending off mixed signals during that cutscene between him, Desmond and Rebecca. One minute he's going on about how the Assassin's aren't nessicarily the "good guys" because they kill people and then he reminds you how it's their goal to safegaurd free will. Most times it's the double agents who talk like that.

Seeing how Lucy was a double agent for the Assassins then it wouldn't be far off for Abstergo to plant a mole within the Assassins. Personally i hope they don't go with such a cliche plot device because it'd be so damn predictable.

I view Shaun as, while completely happy working behind the curtain, envious of Desmond. Part of Shaun's always wanted to be the one delving head-first into centuries-old secrets, and why not? It's the ultimate extension of doing research about those secrets. And when Desmond comes in and hops right into the Animus, that bothers Shaun. Shaun's still going to help Desmond, but he doesn't have to like him.

I don't think that Abstergo would even think of putting a mole in the Assassins - the modern Templars seem like they'd just kill the Assassins if they knew where they were well enough to send a spy in.

Reverse-racism! Never did his accent account for my suspicion of him. It was his 'words' not how he said them. Besides, Brits have always been allies of the US (well after 1812 anyway Tongue).

Anyhow, leaving that aside (Hew I'm disappointed you would write that, I hope it was just a joke), it is VERY possible the Templars would have a mole. Why not? The assassins did. Agreed they are arrogant shits, but they are smart too. Frankly I don't know either way, but it is a good possibility that if it's not Sean (or however you spell his name) then it's someone else. Twists to a story still make for a great story no matter the transparency and they have twisted us on the inside of the Animus, why not the outside?

He was probably kidding, just saying that because in almost every Disney movie (i.e. Aladdin), the protagonist has an American accent, while the antagonist has a British accent.

Yeah, i think your right. Abstergo's probebly got enough resources that they don't need spies to find the Assassins.

Though Ubisoft did say that Desmond's story would take an "interesting" turn in AC:B. That could mean anything really, somebody could turn traitor or it could be some earth shattering revelation Desmond learns about himself. Have to wait and see. Cool

Well Ubi already said that Desmond will undergo a change in appearance (hidden blade and hood most likely) and he will "do much more than in ACII". He'll obviously become a legitimate Assassin and take out a few modern-day Templars...or maybe just some really bad people like mob bosses or Santa. (If Santa was real, don't you think he'd have a Piece of Eden?!?) Santa

I'd personally think it would be too lazy of Ubi to throw in that mole cliche in the developed story. They can make it much better than that.

I had a thought. Desmond and Lucy got out of Abstergo fairly easily. What if the Templar's allowed Lucy to get Desmond out of there so they could get their information quicker? Considering Abstergo's failure to get their information from their first sixteen subjects, maybe they saw it as beneficial to allow or even facilitate Desmond's escape so that they could get the information they needed from him and then steal it from Lucy and the team once they had it. Making unwittingly traitor's of Shaun, Rebecca, Lucy and Desmond. That depth of deception coming frrom Abstergo would not suprise me.

Yes, Patrick, Treacherous too. Evil I like Traitorous, though, as it sounds wrong but isn't.

Which is the opposite of telling someone they look quimtessent, which sounds like a compliment but absolutely is not.

Why aye*, Massmurder, you can third that indeed. (Check out Bill Bailey's 'conspiracies' on YouTube - there are cameras in ham, y'know.)

*Not that I'm stereotyping Geordies, you understand. And if I was, it's allowed 'cos the whole of my mum's side of the family are from Durham. Wink

Anyway, back to topic: I don't believe that Shaun is a traitor. He is quite annoying (but has grown on me in AC:B) and, of course, British, but even that doesn't make him a traitor. I expect, at some point, he's going to become very important and possibly even heroic, which will make all the people who hate him feel like they have to take back all their derogatory and unpleasant comments about the poor chap. Not to mention libellous threads like this one.

WARNING: ASSASSIN'S CREED: BROTHERHOOD SPOILERS

After replaying AC2 i noticed a few similarities between Shaun and Leonardo, i.e. when Desmond arrives at the hideout, Shaun greets him with some yib-yab, then "Where are my manners? Welcome!". Leonardo does the same with Ezio. (After the Francesco de' Pazzi assassination?)
Shaun and Leonardo are both very intelligent (obviously) and both seem a bit associal. Could we have a bloodline here?
This would (possibly not) explain Shaun working as a mole for the templars since Leonardo did the same (perhaps not willingly, but still).

It's very unlikely that Shaun belongs to Leonardo's bloodline, since Leo was a homosexual, greatly decreasing the chances of him conceiving children. But the comparisons are uncanny, nonetheless.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which

Actually it's a possibility, however remote. Leonardo was not openly homosexual. It's been speculated that he was for a long time. It's also more likely that he was bisexual, even if only for the sake of putting up a good front. I have heard stories both ways.

In our history, it's still very unclear on what his exact orientation was, but in the AC universe, after you buy his upgrades and destroy his war machines, there's an awkward moment between him and Ezio where he says "Women provide little distraction", and Ezio replies, "Wait, I don't get it..." and they look at each other awkwardly.

They seem to be really pushing the idea that he was gay in their universe, at least. But I do see how it can be possible he passed on offspring, maybe during an experimentation period or he could have been putting on a ruse for some reason. But anything is permitted. Wink

There was a time in college when he was confused and wanted to see what it was like.

I actually just saw that odd conversation last night. I didn't realize it was there until I was just roaming around and noticed Leo's symbol on the map. I sat down on the bench and saw that cutscene. It did make me laugh though. They're trying really hard to make him look as gay as possible.

I wonder if he'll show up at all in AC:R.

I wonder if they'll have a gay character for every game. First we had Abul (fast-running fat man) in AC1, then we had Leonardo. It might just be a coincedence that they're both gay and I'm thinking too much, but that's what forums are for.
