My daughter has purchased Psychonauts for the PS3 from the Playstation store. The game will not download, citing a lack of memory. The game requires 3300 MB and the free space on our HDD is listed as 3900 MB. We are clueless. If anyone has any advice or tips, I would be most grateful.
I'm just taking a shot in the dark here, but I believe the system's interpretation of the exact amount of memory left may differ from the actual amount. It happens in PC's all the time.
PC's also require hard drives to have a significant amount of free space at all times, otherwise they start doing weird things. If you can have a 120GB hard drive and a 4GB-locked swap file, you should be able to fill up 116GB with data and be fine, right? Yet once you start hitting the 110GB mark or so, weird things start happening and crashes and blue screens are much more likely.
Computers are just weird like that. And the PS3 is a computer.
I'd try freeing up additional space and trying again. I recommend freeing up at least 1GB more than you have now. I have a feeling that it would work at that point.
Thank you, Asaic. That makes a lot of sense.
