Yeah, there seems to be a lag issue with the Roxio, but it's only audio. Not a problem for me, actually. I can just fix that in the editing process. I'm excited now, because Youtube considered me for a Youtube Partnership. Can't say if I'll actually get it, but no matter what, I'm using that as a motivation to make more videos. It would be nice to get paid for playing games.
The blue is from component video, which has three colors (red, green, blue) replacing the single yellow video cable from composite video.
Component gives much better picture quality and allows for HD, though that won't work if your TV isn't HD. It still offers much better picture quality on SD televisions than composite.
Just for the record, there is zero lag with the HD PVR on the TV. However, what you see on your PC screen is a full second behind. You'll be playing off the TV though, so no worries.
Ah! Now I'm wondering which I should get again. The lowest I could find for the HD PVR was about $249, but the Roxio was only $99 and has the cables I'd need on the site. Right now, the Roxio seems like a better deal, but more people are behind the HD PVR because of its popularity. I hate choosing.

The main difference is that the HD PVR is, well, HD. If you don't have an HDTV, that feature is useless for you. Save some money and go with the SD option.
If you do have HD, then you know that nothing in SD even remotely compares and there is absolutely no question which one to get.
Alright, thanks, Asaic. I've always been a difficult person when it comes to new hardware decisions.
By the way, how the hell do you pronounce your name? Uh-zay-ick? Ah-sake? I always say the first version, but it's bugging me. haha
For some reason I've always pronounced it "A-ziy-ack" (with the 'ziy' sound sort of running into the 'ack') in my head even though it isn't spelt like that. It's like I've got the 'a' and the 'i' sounds the wrong way round and just can't correct it
Bought the Roxio. I talked with my long time friend Mary for the first time in about 4 years. I asked her about my voice, and she said it would be great for commentary. Thank God my microphone is one of the best quality for a laptop. I'll record some test videos first. *crosses fingers*

It's the first one.
Knew it
"Roxio Game Capture: Shipped"
Oh yeah...it's coming. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kEOpr2jai9c&feature=related
(From my University mail room):"You have a package in the mail room. Please come by and pick it up as soon as possible."
Might record the THB games this weekend if I can.
Anyone know if plugging in my microphone while playing will let the recorder...record my voice? I can sit my laptop next to me while I play and use its sound recorder, but I just wanted to make sure.

No, your voice has to be recorded separately. You can have another app recording your mic while capturing video (if your system is fast enough), but most people just record a voice track after the fact.
That's what I thought. No big deal. I have an extended mic at home. Hopefully it'll work for when I'd want to record multiplayer and include everyone's voices.
Can't get it to record. Everything is plugged in properly, I pull up the program, and it reads "Select video device failed". Returning it next week unless someone can help me out. :/

Most capture devices are extremely picky with drivers and other variables.
I always start my troubleshooting with a Google search. Start there and see if there might be a simple solution. If that doesn't work, make sure you have all the latest Windows updates and your drivers are all up to date. Then reinstall the capture software/drivers. Make sure to use the latest versions from the manufacturer's website.
If none of that solves the issue, then it's either a faulty item or a more complex incompatibility between your setup and the capture software/drivers. In either case I recommend returning the product.
Yeah, I did all that. Still won't work. Everything is up to date and everything. Ugh, I was really excited, too. Thought I had this. :/
