I find that keeping all HUD elements off except for money and updates makes for a more immersive experience. Much like playing without the HUD made the first game so much more enjoyable. I also find that playing with no armor (or having it purposly broken) and forbidding yourself to use health potions really makes you stay on your toes.
So... Is anyone else doing this in their first playthrough? I remember having a hard time finding my way around Florence and Venice without the mini-map on in ACII, but this time around it's much more like the first game; you can easily find your way by using the standard map. Also, the missions don't seem to require the use of the mini-map as much as the ones in ACII did, especially not with the more frequent "ingame" checkpoints.
So if you havn't tried any of this in AC:B, I suggest you do, it really brings out the assassin in you. Performing a successful stealth assassination on a borgia captain or an assassination contract without being aided by the SSI and the mini-map really is as exciting in AC:B as it was in the first game.

I definitely will do this on my second playthrough.. though I agree having Hud and Map off is definitely more enjoyable.
On my third playthrough in AC1 I turned off all HUD and Map off because I remembered everything with collectables(flags) and Viewpoints.
Thats a great idea.. I seen "HUD elements off" before on this forum...
On my 2nd playthrough in ACB..." HUD off and also keep Borgia Towers (except the towers you have to Burn down). Just keep killing Borgia Captain over and over again..."

Hehe, you are a bad guy.
lol
Haha. Killing them again is fun if you leave the tower it also allows you to kill them in different ways.
You can go all gun-ho on the first try to scare the crap out of the guards and to observe the layout of the captain's position, and then sneak in stealthily to kill him again, but im a cooler way

Indeed, you can try diferent ways to assassinate the captain, it's a cool way to train your Stealth or another type of killing and at the same time to have fun. haha

I totally fell for that one.
Vague link to HUD there Thanks for the money and housing advice

There's been a few before The only thing to do really is report them to be banned
Yeah, I have no armour whatsoever and play with only the health, weapon, and map icons active. I just want PSN to get back online so I can get Altiar's robes from the first game, I was stunned at how powerful the crossbow is when I bought it from a blacksmith yesterday. So I want Altiar to look exactly like the opening movie of the Assassins Creed game. When he is moving through the crowd with the crossbow on his back, that would be superb
And also with the lack of armour I am struggling with Borgia Captins who are immensly well guarded, and counter Ezio's counter. I figure out some tactical implementations today, such as only killing the Captin.

Should this be removed? Calling stabguy! This has nothing to do with anything, so why is it here?
I might give this a try. I was replaying ACB and I could feel myself just staring at the minimap as I ran through the streets. I realised I was missing out on the scenery but I couldnt help myself, some of the missions just give you no clue at all.
I think they should make the next game without the minimap, and at the last second throw it in anyway.
