Not alot but pretty interesting article made more important Since its you know...The creator of the game we love. It really would have been interesting to see four female Assassin's. Here's he link:

can't say I disagree with him.
I'm in agreement as well. Ultimately I like and enjoy the fact that we're getting an AC game that feels totally different (almost frightening/vertigo-inducing to do all that rooftop parkour) but it would have definitely been epic to see four female protagonists.
am i the only person that doesn't give two shits whether the protagonist is male/female/somewhere in between? black/white/indian/native american/doesn't matter to me either... gameplay mechanics and beautiful settings are what matter, not whether i get to role-play a badass chick.
You're right. It's not like Ubi is required to have a female assassin at any point (and it's good enough Liberation did despite not being a console game), so people have no good reason to complain. Of course I'm half expecting they'll put that in a DLC.
It seems that by stating they were going to add female characters Ubi caused a riot.
I'm sure if there was no mention of an intention for female characters the "petition" wouldn't have ever existed. Oh well, at least it got the strong appeal out there for there to be more options in terms of gender. Maybe they'll even have racial choices in an AC game someday.
It's people getting upset over stupid shit. If nothing else, the AC franchise has continually proven itself to not be racist or sexist or what have you. Connor was a native american, Aveline was a woman. Bluecoats weren't all good, redcoats weren't all bad.
We'll probably see a female lead in a console game in due time.

It doesn't matter to me. My saying that it would have been cool is just that - "it would have been cool." Is it going to break my gameplay experience because Arno's a really cool, poetic dude who's more in tune with his emotions than prior protagonists FROM THE GAMEPLAY DEMO QUOTE ALONE!? Not in the slightest. This game is incredible. As a person who regularly climbs things in real life, Ubi did fantastically well at bringing the feeling of height and vertigo into this game. That's what the next-generation of AC is going to play on, the internal feeling the player gets when they play this game. It's awesome and I can't wait. Then again, I can totally wait. I have about 5ish months to save up about 500ish dollars.
Still wish they would have added a female character...
I tend to agree that girls don't get the solid screentime in games that male protagonists do. QuarterToThree.com had an interesting article at the end of last year where its owner/primary editor was complaining about the lack of substantial female characters in 2013 beyond Tomb Raider and Bioshock Infinite (which he wasn't satisfied with).
I mean, its a big stink over a minor thing, but it is reoccurring minor thing. All of the feminism is starting to hit a point, where it is time for stronger female protagonists; however I do not believe that will happen until there are more female lead designers, which we all know the industry has a lack of. I was reading a blog about female characters a year or two ago where they boiled down most female game characters into either: damsel in distress, bimbo or vixen with big assets, jaded tough-girl, or some combination of those, but not in any realistic measure. And that is very accurate, because those are the cliches that ALL of pop culture still propagates. Until the whole culture changes, this won't happen.
Off Topic: Aurl, what do diff colors in your spinning signature mean? Is there a guide to that somewhere?
Saw it on another forum and thought it was cool.
Back on topic, historically it's rare for women to be the ones "in all the action", so to speak.

I also read some things on game forums about female game characters. Right on about those cliches. The only game I played that doesn't try to make a playable female character all pretty or one of the above is Fable 2. Leveling up your character in melee causes them to get buff regardless of gender, so looks weren't a big priority for that game.
the ideal thing to do would be to say that female assassins dressed the same as male assassins + cut their hair + strategically padded their outfits at the shoulders and such, so as to appear male. would only require creating/reusing a few face models and not require any changing of the body models.
and there's precedent for a female assassin in that era operating that way.
