Hello, the people of The Hidden Blade. A few weeks back I glitched and planned speed tactics for this game a bit. Just thought to share the most promising things I found - although there is a chance that none of this is "new" - and also ask for professional opinion on a few leads I had on sequence breaks from early on in the game.
Firstly, using jumping momentum to get out of bounds. It's probably well known that jumps can glitch up pretty badly in AC 1, from strange warping effects to hyper height and so on. The meat of my "new" finding is basically that jumping against towards a solid surface with an upwards angled ground beneath may allow Altair to get through the floor. In most places I tried it it didn't serve much purpose, but in at least two places there's a fun effect to be gained:

Shortly after, I found out that you can create an acute angle using your horse, allowing breaching of walls. I even went and checked out what's behind that closed Arsuf road using this trick. (in another vid)

There is other stuff as well, like getting your horse to sink inside ground, but right now I'm falling asleep and will probably return to this topic later (at least if anyone is interested). Anyway, here's two skip attempts I honed pretty far in, but not all the way through as of yet (lack of time/energy). If you guys happen to have extra info or estimation on the possible consequences, do share.

Be seeing you.
I love glitch videos like these, very creative. Your video of using the horse is excellent, I loved your comments! There's two I know of, I don't know if your aware of them, one of them involves a stall that is next to the wall of a small building, you hang on the edge of the roof of the building, shimmy right to the stall and you'll end up clipping inside the building, the edges of the room are solid, the middle of the floor of the room isn't and you'll fall to your death in gray nothingness. The other way is outside of Jerusalem I believe, where all the pilgrims are leaving the city, and there is a tree overhanging a cliff. Opposite this, is a rock, it's hard to describe it, but if you find opposite the tree, its a sort of slanty grayish rock. If you dismount off your horse in the right spot above the rock, you'll be able to push through the barrier, there is a video on Youtube of it, I think you can explore a good way. Do you know of any way of testing the floors in Assassins Creed? Like in GTA 3 you can use your guns to fire at the ground and if it sparks, it is solid, is there a similar trick using throwing knives in AC?
i gotta ask, what does OOB stand for?
>>you hang on the edge of the roof of the building, shimmy right to the stall and you'll end up clipping inside the building
Yeah, I've seen a vid of something like this, and accidentally done it near a memory barrier once or twice (resulting in death). I've come to think of it as a pretty old "technique", if it can be called that.
>>The other way is outside of Jerusalem I believe...
It might be a collision flaw, or just getting lucky with the "jumping momentum glitch", which is basically the thing causing you to breach walls by jumping towards tight angles or (at a correct angle) solid surfaces which end before Altair finishes his jump. These kind of spots are scattered all over the place in the game.
>>Do you know of any way of testing the floors in Assassins Creed?
Nope. Walking makes Altair sometimes stop when facing an edge, but it doesn't work with all edges.
>> OOB
OOB is an abbreviation for "out of bounds".
welcome akheon. im glad to see you here!
I've also seen people call videos like these OOM- Out Of Map.
Have you heard of GlitchBlog.com? They showcase off glitches and they have several glitching clans I believe, main page hasn't been updated in a couple of months, but the forums are pretty active.
stabguy is thankful his website isn't named "GlitchBlog"
I'm rather wary of glitching clans, but glitchblog.com might have the right idea. I'm not too familiar with the site yet.
I don't know if you guys are familiar with this stuff, but I might as well indulge a bit. It's possible to leave the first town early - as soon as you've watched the first talk scene in Masyaf. Unfortunately the game keeps a strict track on what objective you are currently doing, and the rest of the game world, while fully accessible (other than the closed Arsuf road), has very little going on. All bureaus are empty, etc. And next objective is always pointed to be at Masyaf, which is correct. Just to note, the same tactic for leaving town does not work in block 7 because of the placement of the memory barriers.

Here's a strange glitch which allows cloning horses at Masyaf.

Random odds & ends, including more jump physics stuff, making horses sink, Altair's graphics getting messed up, passing walls using counter attack...

Hmmmmmmmmm, I wonder if you can glitch a horse into a city.
