This level has been done to death, so there wasn't much to do here. Unfortunately I finished the mission and couldn't replay it, and I really cant be bothered replaying it the normal way by going back from Al Mualim. Its kinda messy, I stuff up a few jumps. So far its the best escape route I can think of at this time
Jack, I'm kind of disappointed. You can do better. Nice kill, though. I didn't know you could air-to-assassinate from that roof.
Hah!
That's not messy. I never managed to do such a clean escape.
I am right at this level in my playthrough save game, but I got lost so badly, that I havent found a single investigation yet.

Go to the mosque completely, ehh, down in the district. There's an eavesdropping mission right there. It's the guarded area. Near that is also a synagogue. Two streets from that is an informer. Maybe you should climb a viewpoint and use Eagle Vision?
Viewpoint and eagle vision? Will that show the informers? I go and try that, it sounds exciting.
Oh... you mean eagle vision will reveal the investigations on the map, hehe...
Yea, but that's no fun.
No, sometimes you can see the people with information from a viewpoint if you have eagle vision on. No need for maps.
I am not sure if you have done this. It's a good idea to take out all the archers before confronting the target, that way you won't get hit by their arrows as you make the escape. At 2:12 an archer is still on the building, so maybe you could have taken him out earlier. This is only a minor suggestion, the overall video was excellent and I am very impressed with your escape route. Superb air>assassinate
In the 'Alone'-topic, stabguy mentions that some archers get spawned every time, even when you have preassassinated them. I don't know for sure, but I thought that was one.
Oh...really? Ok I'll bear that in mind for later on today hehehe the only problem with Talal is the opening fight and getting past that archer on the raised platform to the left of the pair of chanderlers.

Several alternative ways up have been found where you don't have to fight at all. Check out the vids on the frontpage and Jack's recent vid in this forum.
if i recall correctly, this is the archer that shoots the dissident during majd addins speech. if you preassassinate him, i think the game respawns him for the cutscene...

There's one on the right of the stage that respawns as well (Jack's entry point). I think it's more likely to be that one, since he's always got a clear shot. I need to check.
See the section labeled "APPROACH" in Stylish Assassination: Majd Addin. The one on the left (to the north of the stage) respawns during the cutscene. The one to the south doesn't appear until the cutscene (he's the one who shoots the Scholar that rushes the stage) and then he disappears if you desynchronize and reload. All other archers are easily pre-assassinated.
Jack did a good job on this air to assassinate from the south. I never demonstrated it because it's in the official Ubisoft video walkthrough. Note the awkward edit in Ubisoft's video after the player equips the Hidden Blade. At first I thought they stumbled upon the archer and became Exposed in the first take. Upon closer examination, the first take is also from a reload (you can tell because Altaïr starts from up on that porch) so that archer wouldn't have been there anyway. I can't explain why they spliced together two reload takes instead of just showing the last one in its entirety.
Ubisoft also had to edit their Majd Addin escape video. That kind of unprofessionalism wouldn't cut it on The Hidden Blade.

He is not the only person that can be preassasinated early and come back to life. The two scholars that get shot are in one of the investigations and can be killed after you listen to their conversation.
[Ubisoft's] unprofessionalism wouldn't cut it on The Hidden Blade.
Someone's going after the big dogs!
Yeah, I was about to say that the guys who made those vids suck at playing Assassin's Creed and specifically at escaping. They take like 1 minute to get away, while you can do it 30 seconds easily. Proof is in the vid above.
I'm also thinking about making a video on 'the art of the escape' for AC1. Not sure if I'll get motivated enough to actually make it, though.
I would definatly take a look at that video ThreeLetterSyndrom, I can never escape with much efficiancy since I spend the time taking out all the guards. Which is just the way I like it I just make sure every guard has been delt with, then I just go into monk mode and cruise back to the bureau.
a video on 'the art of the escape' for AC1.
That sounds really exciting!
With all these "art of..." videos, might as well put them in the "Assassin Art" section.
Whatever, 'Tips and tricks on escaping in Assassin's Creed' doesn't sound as good as 'The art of the escap in Assassin's Creed' does.
Please do it. I have an escape video now for Talal, Garnier and Majid Adin. I cannot record anymore so I want someone to finish my work. I will keep playing single player and find some escape routes to discuss with you if you want, I already have a few more for the next 3 in memory block 4. You dont have to though

Nah, sure! I'd like to. I'm currently inventarising many ways to escape from Tamir. There's so many oppurtunities, especially when you know the level. I need to inventarise the way I escape though, so this might take some time.
I need to inventarise the way I escape though
Did you mean "invent" or "inventorize" (a non-standard word meaning to make an inventory)?

Yeah, I messed up with the Dutch word (inventariseren), which has the same meaning.
Found a sick escape route for Abul Na'quod ( spelling?). It is a haystack escape again ( the best) but it is not the one that stabguy uses. Also entering from the side doors is interesting, you can jump over the fence on both sides to sneak in, I never knew that.
I might get a new laptop so I can record sound, and I will probably do commentary for online videos anyway to get money from advertisements if thats how those COD players got around it. As for William I haven't bothered to explore a proper escape route yet, I will be starting on Sibrand today
Jack when are u 'going away?' as in not being able to get on the forums for a while. I wanna give u a youtube background gift, to make ur channel look cleaner, as a reward for ur epic multiplayer videos
Cool thanks. Well at the moment I sleep on some island batch with no internet, and I ferry in every day to work, so at the moment I don't really have internet
However on the 28th of Jan I will be moving in to my Hostel which doesn't have internet in my room. We do have a room for wired internet though, but I won't be using it. Unitl i get my room sorted with this new wireless deal I found that gives me 10 GB a month at the hostel ( unsure if my PS3 will get it though) I will have no net at the Hostel. However I can go into the university I go to and get it there for free ( cant bring my PS3 sadly... or could I? lol)
I have been doing some research on how to record sound on a laptop and all results are really unhelpful, I have seen a load of people with my problem, the USB 2.0 driver for the easycap sound isnt recognised. I did find some random solution in the comments to disable the USB enhanced controller, whatever that is. Sounds dodgy disabling stuff on the driver manager but he had loads of thumbs up and other comments saying it enabled all other USB 2.0 drivers. I will have to check it out when I get my easycap back
Ah! Easycap. I know nothing about those. my cap card is a Dazzle. The oldest version, but it works. Better than easycap lol. And should u get 10GB a month at ur hostel, ur ps3 shuld get it. But i wouldn't reccomend downloading stuff from the marketplace, and should a new update come out for brotherhood, it'll use up some of ur GB, so i'd plan ahead wisely.

I'm currently investigating the Tamir escape. I cannot believe how many ways there are to escape from that kill. I've already got one thing I really want to use.
Also, has anyone tried superfast escape on Abu'l? Outside of stealth, I mean. He walks right past a haystack.

You mean like this one on Tamir? No, I'm not aware of any efforts along those lines for Abu'l.
Two things you should know about that fast hide:

Yeah, I was referring to that one.
Two things you should know about that fast hide:
- It may only work because of the pop-up regarding City Alert, giving you a moment of delay before being Exposed.
I don't think so. There's always a small time interval between getting noticed and being exposed. I haven't checked thoroughly with the HUD, but it takes a while before I actually get chased.
I have tried to replicate it many times on Tamir but never succeeded. I even sent a private video to Ian of one failure and he couldn't identify any mistakes in my technique. I was into the hay cart, ejected, and starting to climb back in before the pop-up appeared. Can anyone confirm that it works on Xbox 360?
I'll have a check.
In advance, apologies for the double post. I figured it's the best way to tell everyone what's up. Just now, I tried the superfast escape on Tamir. To my great delight, I pulled it off on my third try (target escaped on my first, got discovered because I sprinted the second time). I did get the popup, though, but by that time, I was already getting into the hay cart. So, yeah, superfast escape on Tamir works on the Xbox 360.
Cool. That's good to know. Here's an unlisted video of one of my failed attempts:
The first part was going to be a blitz but Altaïr acted like a mime doing the "man in the invisible box" routine. Any idea what went wrong on the fast hide? The nearest guard was assassinated like in Ian's video. I got into the hay cart really fast but was ejected. Notice how long it took for the pop-up to appear - about 5 seconds.
Got a new challenge for Abul, you gotta do a stunt on him from the guard tower, get there before he does. No idea if anything is possible but by some fluke I managed to pull a cool stunt there, wondering if anyone would like to play around with it.
There seems to be some sort of delay between having assassinated and actually having the status of having assassinated in the game. I assassinated Tamir as he walked on from his post, so I had to run an extra meter or so, and that worked fine.
I think this might be caused by the Xbox's lesser processing power, or something like that. Just a hypothesis, though.
