In AC1:
However. in AC2 we learn that:
So why has Lucy had to
she never lost her finger. in the scene when she is "missing" it, she is only bending it.
i think it is some form of greeting between assassins so they know that they both are in the murdering bussines without having to say
"hey, i'm an assassin, are you an assassin also? you're not? crap."
Yes, she simply is bending her finger, she's not missing it.

Hahaha, ah ok, never mind then.
I find this funny that people get confused over this... xD;
And it seems a lot still do, I wonder why...? =/
This is something I never really thought about until seeing this post. But as I remember Lucy showing Desmond that finger it did look bent, or taken off at birth..

Why not? She was born and raised on the Farm, right?
But it was bent. She has her finger in other games.

Born on the Farm or not, Assassins are supposed to have stopped chopping off their fingers since the 13th century, so no. But even if some of them kept doing it, it's not supposed to be at birth but when they become Assassins, as a sign of commitment and all. (cf Leonardo's prank speech to Ezio in ACII)
The only thing I could think of to legitimize removal at birth would be some disease or mutation, so thinking of it now I don't see why I thought her finger was gone. Probably because the first time I saw that video clip it was prior to AC:II and I thought the finger chopping was still in style to this day Thankyou Fogey
