Long range knife kills
Hi everybody, just woundering about the possibility of taking out a guard with a throwing knife that is way out of Altiar's normal throwing range. This involves the use of no target selection at all, and as such have been trying to see if it is at all possible.
I pick out a guard that I can just about see, face him and throw the knife. But it always misses and I have to then do the usual "run target throw". Maybe it's a bit ambitions, but surely knifes could travel great distances thus enhance the ability to take out guards from a greater distance. The distance at which the game lets you target a guard with the throwing knifes equipped is quite short in my opinion.
I know that with air resistance and the velocity of the knife, the speed and height will be reduced. But I always had a crazy idea that when you do a leap of faith, you could slow down time and throw kinfes and kill guards in mid-air.

I don't think you can throw a throwing knife mid-air, but there seems to be no air resistance.
You can target an enemy, and then walk further away while still targeting. That way you can increase the distance a bit.
But you can hit an enemy from any distance, without targeting. But you have to be at the same elevation as him.
You can press the center camera button to see what direction you are headed, and you can aim by walking toward the enemy and adjusting the aiming that way.
Yeah it's possible, you just have to be precise. Use the very top of your head to line it up with your target.

He does if you already have the shortblade out (from a fight, or you were out of knives). Otherwise, he will just chuck the knife in a straight line. Killed many-a guard using the eyeball and clip his torso/legs method.
The classic reference on long range throwing knives in AC1 is Granjow's Fighting Tutorial 2. He got some real distance on that second example!
