Here's an idea!
I said before that I wanted to do something in return to you guys for funding at least a large portion of my copy of AC4, and here's my contribution: Livestreaming.
But I don't want to do just any livestream of a lonely guy playing games in his room. I want to make it THB-friendly. I set up an account on Twitch (it's also in my signature now with every comment), which involves chat capabilities and all that good stuff.
How do we make it THB-friendly? Well, first of all, I'll play it without going through the story (unless everyone in the chat has played some of it/seen other playthroughs/doesn't care anymore). If spoilers are a huge deal, I'll play through the main game in my own personal time and set up a date to start up the stream again for those interested in side missions and/or multiplayer gameplay.
This includes taking votes via the chat option about how I take on plantations, assassination contracts, and other side missions. It would be a "THB community playthrough", if you will.
I also think this would be a great way to get anyone on here that plays multiplayer games that I also own to be "guest stars". Think about McStab and I leaving paths of destruction in Crackdown (It's gonna happen!) or Jack Reacher showing me why he's actually better than me.
I hope that some other members on here can use this idea as well. I don't want to be the only one to do a THB Community Playthrough. It's like Stabby Chat with interactive gameplay!
What do you guys think?
EDIT: I just found out that Twitch also has an embed code generator. So that could be helpful if we could just plug it into the site.
Live assassination variety packs! Live eagle strikes! Live blitzes! Live early deaths! Live exterminations!
I think we should make this a thing.
I'm actually super excited to hear about the prospect of my THB-family doing this stuff.

Exactly. There are a lot of possibilities we can use this for. Seeing as how Darby McDevitt knows about our happenings, we could attract more "celebrity" attention our way. I'm not sure how, but I know that together, as a group, we'd figure something wonderful out.

Another point to note: I had this idea with the intention of only doing THB-related streams, so no one outside of our website can take advantage of our visiting/viewer traffic.

In that case be prepared for a bunch of bloopers and other failures usually not seen in videos. But this does present some good opportunities. Our exploit experts can give ideas while watching the live gameplay.

Yes! I was hoping some of you guys can offer some ideas when, for example, I ask for suggestions on how to take out a target or plantation when facing one. It would be something of a challenge for whoever is livestreaming.
OH! Maybe we can eventually do "competitions" between members that are able to do this (I know not everyone can, so it wouldn't be anytime soon). Whoever achieves the most challenges provided by chat members during the stream, gets the most points and wins some sort of prize.
Yeah, this has potential.
I tested it out and it works really well. There's about a 20-30 second delay between what I input and what anyone views. But we can deal with that.
I'm actually livestreaming right now! http://twitch.tv/161803398874989
Best name ever, I know.
EDIT: done already,

Damn I missed it. But I followed you.
I leave the country for one week, and shit like this happens.
Love the idea.
Still gotta get you $20 more though...

Depending on if I get birthday money in September, I might just do that myself haha.
So um...

How bad would it be to have my bank account reach negative numbers?
good try, JoeyFogey. we're not buying you a PS4.
jkjk
but it would be bad. don't do it. not worth it.
Watch McStab and I play Crackdown!
Oh shit!! Why did you post this?!
I apologize for my lack of gaming acumen.
Don't worry, I'll only edit it to keep the most embarrassing parts.

I swear I spent 30 minutes trying to climb that damn lighthouse, only to give up.

...You gave me an idea.
For anyone interested in a comparison of recording devices, here's a handy article.
I use Elgato and it's very much worth the price.
I'm glad you took all the moments of me being an ass of a teammate to you, hahaha

Oh, that's in Part 2.
Okay, where did you get that intro from!? It would, after all, be nice to have our own logo intro better than the one I had to come up with for the Top Ten Discoveries video.

I just took the loading screen from Crackdown (cut it out of the video in-program) and edited in my own words. That's what I love about Adobe Premiere. You can't do that as easily with other programs (maybe Sony Vegas but I've yet to figure that program out).
Okay, so...
Would anyone know how to improve the quality of a livestream? Basically, with any fast-paced movement on screen (running forward, turning the camera, something spins a lot on the screen), the video becomes fairly pixelated. In the Elgato preview window, everything is HD, crisp, and clear. However, on Twitch, it pixelates and can annoy anyone that watches it. I wouldn't want horrible quality streaming for when I start up AC4.
You have to up your streaming bitrate. It's right below the streaming button.

That was one of the top results from my searches, but it didn't seem to help as much. Maybe it's because I have 3 screens displaying the game (TV, Elgato program, Twitch stream). Maybe it's different for someone JUST viewing the stream by itself.
let us know when you're streaming and we can test this.
I'll be streaming free roam mode now, if anyone's up for watching/commentating.
EDIT: Don't forget to say hello!
Okay, so I've left all of the Assassination/Templar/Naval contracts/Legendary Ships and such alone and saved them for that live stream idea I had. As far as I know, I'll be free all day Thursday this week, so if any of you would like to join me in watching and participating in some assassinating and pirating, click on the link in my signature and let's have a good time.
P.S.: I'll post here again when I'm getting ready to go live.
Just looking for treasure and being a pirate right now. Join me if you'd like to watch!
watched some of your ACBF videos... you really love those hooks on the Jackdaw. haha

I actually noticed that too It's pretty great.
I kept going over those to test the video quality. It always looks fine when Edward is standing still, but when there's extreme movement, it can get pixelated and blurry. IT WAS FOR SCIENCE
Welp, it's starting. I don't expect really anybody to show up, but it's there if you're interested!
Wish there was some notification process or something.
Audio and Video are smoother than I expected on the live thing. Pretty good way to get my ACIV pirate fix at work...
I'm preparing to face a Legendary Ship, so anyone that'd like to see the pure chaos that comes with it, come join!
Did you ever take on that Legendary Ship after I left? If so, are you going to post the footage?

No, I spent last night actually building up money and materials to upgrade the Jackdaw enough to take on at least one Legendary ship (I just need a bit more money for the last Ram upgrade, but who uses that anyways?)
I'll probably stream myself taking on the ships this week all at once. And I'll of course edit them together and post them online afterwards.
(I just need a bit more money for the last Ram upgrade, but who uses that anyways?)
Oh man, it's gonna be so good seeing you take those words right back ;] On the serious side though, the Ram is insanely useful and probably one of your greatest weapons against Legendaries. Especially against some where if you don't Chain Shot + Ram + Chain Shot + Ram over and over and over into their stern, they will destroy you. Broadsides and Mortars aren't really practical in some cases. You also don't appreciate Chain Shot so much until you need it to Stun Legendaries repeatedly and lock them down.
All in all though, it's good fun. If ANYTHING, I would recommend getting the final Swivel Upgrade because you just hold Swivel Guns and don't release the button. It sweeps over everything and destroys it. It also does insane damage. Naturally, because of the way these Swivel Guns work, they're VERY FAST, and all you really need to control is camera angle.
A bit of an off-topic question here:
I have a ps4 and I want to start making AC4 video's but does any of you know a way of recording video's/streams without having to share them on a social network?
Thanks in advance!
JoeyFogey....
I heard somewhere that you can livestream from PS4 to twitch.tv?
Is this the case?
Assuming it is, do we know how "live" the livestream is? For example, if we all set up twitch.tv accounts, could we use multitwitch.tv as a way to see eachothers screens to set up multiplayer ACU videos?
Isn't it possible to communicate via voice chat?
I still have a PS3, but I know that you can stream to Twitch using PS4 (and now Elgato lets us record/stream in HD for PS4). I don't know what multitwitch even is, really.

Yes. it is... but it would still be fun to see what and where other people are...
