Killing with the papal staff
After Ian did that whole thing where you poison the pope and therefore are able to wield the papal staff people
have been wondering if you could kill anyone without desynching. Eventually everyone came to the conclusion
that you cannot i am here to tell you that YES you can. Here is what you must do once you have poisoned Borgia grab the staff and walk just close enough to the nearest brute and get him suspicious now lure him away from the other guards,far enough so they cant see and stab him in the stomach it is a one hit kill thanks

I can see how that works. I used a similar method to kill all the brutes in the room before attending to Rodrigo. Great find! 
Ian posted a followup video in which he killed one Brute and two civilians with the Papal Staff (starting at 7:00). If you're killing multiple Brutes, that would be worth documenting on video.

update:i have now killed every remaining brute in the sistine chapel with the papal staff im going to do it again and take a video
