All is in the title. Despite I did awesome speedruns, I played so much in single player, I'm almost always last in the ranks. What can I do to have more points? My aim is to reach level 20 as fast as possible, and I'm currently 11.
Make sure you have smoke bomb.
Don't rush at your targets; take your time.
Turn the music volume up over all other volumes (listen to whispers to tell when your pursuer is about 10 meters from you or less).
When tracking your target, keep a lock on them.
When playing team modes, get the team bonuses by locking on to targets/pursuers while your teammates kill/stun them. These can add up pretty well.
Get the Blender perk and hide in groups when being pursued.
If you don't have any pursuers on you, feel free to sprint to the general area of your target. Once you get a pursuer, immediately start walking. You never know where they'll be when they're assigned you.
You unlock smoke at lvl 20, Joey.
Don't have any tips as I don't play AC:R.

You can buy smoke bomb instead of earning it. It's different this time around, Phi. ;D
EDIT: Maybe. I can't honestly remember. I haven't played in a long time.
Yes, you can't "buy" them before level 20. I think I will continue with the default profile and remember your tips. Thanks.

You have to both earn and buy it. You need to reach Level 20 and have enough Animus Points to actually purchase the Ability.
In terms of tips, Fed, I think Joey's advice is pretty sound. The main thing is just to keep playing and give yourself a chance. The game has been out a while now so many of the online players have been there for a while and will be better than you at first. There is, however, a fair few new players who, if you follow the Tenets and the Maxim of the Creed (depsite being a Templar), can be dealt with pretty easily.
i. Stay your blade from the flesh of the innocent - only go in for the kill once you've fully identified your target. Killing a lookalike gives away your identity to pursuers, will more than likely result in your target stunning you, and won't gain you any XP at all!
ii. Hide in plain site - once you've earned them, use abilites like morph, disguise and decoy to blend in with the crowd and confuse your pursuers. If these abilites aren't yet available, blend in with a crowd anyway, preferably one including a lookalike already. Don't run unless your pursuer uses templar vision (they glow blue-white) or your target bolts and you want to catch them. Also blend in while stalking a target so they can't pick you out and smoke bomb/stun you!
iii. Never compromise the Brotherhood - Play Manhunt or Alliance so you can play as part of a team. Try to work with other players so you both benefit, although benefit from their mistakes by waiting until they are stunned by a target and then move in for the kill. Don't give yourself or others away by running all the time and barging into people and hide together as much as possbile to earn extra XP. Also ensure you share out the targets between your team by pressing L or R on the D-pad to switch target. That way you won't all be running after the same person and competing for kills when you should be working together.
Nothing is true; everything is permitted - These are only guidelines and tips. With a bit of practice, you'll find your own playstyle and will work out which abilites, perks and assassination methods work best for you. Take advantage of new abilites as soon as you earn them, particularly smoke bomb, morph and templar vision, and create different combinations in your ability sets to find out what you like. Most importantly, just have fun!
If you just want to earn XP quickly, you could always Stun Boost.
I don't think stun boosting work in Revelations anymore. At least, it hasn't worked when I tried it.
If you want to be cheap and a Christmas light at the same time, invest in Templar Vision. Just know that you stick out like a sore thumb when you use it and if you're spotted before using it, the target can stun you while you're in the middle of turning it on (that's my defense, since it blinds them for a split second).

Oh fair enough. I used it in Brotherhood as I got bored.
Yeah, Templar Vision is an absolute gamebreaker. It can be very useful but I find it quite unfair and a lot of players are quick to react to it now, making its use more risky than it once was. Its best when used while perched on a ledge/roof above a target and a group of lookalikes as they can see you anyway but can do very little other than run.
All right, I'm now at level 20. I was much more confident from level 17, with knives AND pistol, more like Ezio.
Anyway I got the Uplay achievement now, I'm quite happy
Watch all of my videos.
In all seriousness, dont try and copy the average player. If the community hasnt changed since I last played, then the average player in this game is just terrible, people rarely think outside the box in this game. Be creative, look at the score bonuses and just think outside the box. Its much easier to be a top player in this game than say your average COD game.
I have a (sort of) related question. Having just finished ACB, would it be recommended to skip the multiplayer mode until ACR? Or is the experience of multiplayer in ACB worth spending some hours on? Is there a better training mode in ACB since it was the first? Or does none of this matter? Thanks for any opinions.

It's not necessary in ACB and the ACR training session is more in-depth. The ACR story for multiplayer is actually present, but it's not really necessary. It's fun, though.

So, unless I'm trying to get all achievements for ACB, skip the ACB multiplayer. Got it. Thanks.
Are you kidding, ACB has the running incognito!
I'm pretty bad too. Allow me to recount my first two games of live multiplayer from yesterday. I didn't finish last in either game, so that's a plus.
I was disappointed (for lack of a better word) in the play of the other 7 people. None were "assassins." More of a "Hey, let's all stand on top of these buildings and try to kill eachother first" thing. Also, I think I will get better once I learn what the body types look like from further away. I mean, all they give you is a headshot, so I spent a lot of the time looking for the right type of person. The plus is, with everyone hanging out on top of the buildings, I could easily get "stay alive for 60 seconds" bonuses. And I drew "first blood" in my first match ever, so that's a plus.
I was in a group of pretty low ranking people, (two lvl1, two 4, one 7, two 11 and one 31). I kept getting assigned the lvl31 to kill. But I think I had a good experience. It was kind of lame knowing that my target was, most of the time, just up on top of a building in a giant melee of which I wanted no part. I'm also trying to get used to the HUD of when I can see my target, and when I can't.
I'll get better. 900 in the first game, 1600 in the second... at that rate, i should get 2500, 3600, 4900.... wishful thinking, huh?
I will train you, padawan. If you accepted my friend request. I haven't been on xbox in a while.
Yeah, about that Cheese, what was your GT again?

I would love to be trained.
Heh, heh, I don't pay attention to anything :l
I've trained a few players either directly (got them in a session with only 3 players total and walked them through things such as: how to spot a target, how to spot a pursuer, how to blend correctly, etc) or indirectly (they joined a game and tried my own techniques against me).
I prefer the first method, as it's more clear of what we're doing.

Agreed. The first sounds very helpful. Also, I assume this training would include some voice communication... gotta get a new headset, I guess.
I'd like to participate on that too
Haha... a "Joey et al trains THB" session.
Didn't see any friend requests... I'll check again soon. Gonna turn on netflix later I think.
Jack would be a great teacher as well, but as far as I know, he's not really online much because of his awful internet. :/
Ah well, James and I can teach people on xbox. Phi, you can help us if you have any pointers!

Whaaat? I added you last week! Pfft!
Joey, it might have been deleted from my requests last Sunday. If you read the rant thread, my account was hacked. Maybe they denied the request on my behalf.
That's true. Meh, it happens. I'll add you again when I can.

Haven't played Revelations in 5 months remember. Only played MP like three times, up to level 20.
Now I don't have Gold anymore because I never used it.
Well then, I guess you just won't be as awesome as the rest of us.
After doing some online research... I figured out why I was so frustrated with the multiplayer and it didn't appear like the training tutorials... I was playing Deathmatch and not Wanted. I had no NPCs to hide with... I had no compass... and it was all close combat... Still had fun though.
Maybe I'll play some wanted later this week.
Actually, Simple Deathmatch is the only game mode I really really like.
I like either Deathmatch type. Wanted kind of evolved into a roof-runner's paradise. So has Manhunt. I don't really play much else.
I find that Simple Deathmatch is a better test of true social stealth, regardless of level as there isn't any abilities to exploit. I find it much more tense and exciting than any other game mode.
Yeah. I was just confused as to why things were different in the training vs what I was playing... figured it out.
About that training session.... with all the network shows ending their seasons, my nights might be opening up a bit... but Saturday evenings work best... as long as the wife doesn't have anything planned for me anyway.
Im back, hopefully for good. Internet is going fine in my room and I just played some matches on ACR, got DCed once otherwise it was pretty smooth. So yeah anyone on PS3 should definately add me, il be playing quite a bit once exams are over, before exams il still play anyway =)

Tell that to all the people running on the rooftops in Mt Saint-Michel ir on the tents in Rome and Venice :/ I think that the most difficult map for Simple Deathmatch is Souk. Lots of choke points, hard to escape, easy to pinpoint pursuers among the crowd. And easiest? Well, Galata. Different elevation levels, but provides fast ways to reach the fountain, and has many hiding spots next to each other.
I just started Brotherhood multiplayer a week ago. I'm level 19 right now, I get one level per day. I'm pretty good at it, I generally tend to get 1st place from the beginning of a game and not let go until the end. I'm not gonna play Revelations Multi until I LVL50 on Brotherhood's. And I'm not gonna boost either, I wanna take my time and enjoy it haha.
It's super fun.
Taking your time is so good, so much better than rushing.
I've gotten 10 less kills than someone and over double their score because Quality Over Quantity is so prevalent.
I unpredictably have the evening to myself with the wife at a bridal shower for the next 4+ hours. So Joey, if you see this, I'm on the Xbox. Log in and find me and I can start my training as a Novice, Mentor.

Okay, I saw this when it was posted and thought, okay, I'll get on now. Then my friend needed to see me "urgently". So we skyped and then we got carried away watching funny youtube videos, then 3 other people on facebook messaged me and I forgot about it until now. O_O
no big deal... been playing some NCAA12.
EDIT: hmmm.... "The Assassins Creed Revelations server is not available at this time."
EDIT to the EDIT: weird... working now.
The AC Team announced on Facebook and Twitter that they were experiencing problems but they soon got the servers back up and running.
Wasn't soon enough. It kept happening multiple times. And I played with a few others after James and there was more lag than ever.
Cancelled my auto-renewal for Xbox. Gotta save even more money now that I have no place to live. That means I'll probably only have sucky internet or no chance to play games. So no multiplayer anymore until something works out.

I'm sorry to hear that! Hope things work out!
