i just noticed that i have a lot more sync bars when playing the Forli DLC than i should have. i didnt decode any codex pages until it was required in seq 14, yet the number of sync blocks i have when playing the seq 12 DLC indicates otherwise. i mention this because this effect should feel familiar to ac1 fans. in ac1, when you replay a previous memory block, you take your bonus sync bars with you - even the ones obtained from later memory blocks. this suggests that ubi is allowing us to play seq 12 using a "replay-like" feature. hopefully, we'll get full replay ability in the upcoming DLC.

I'm sure it does use the replay code, which has existed in the game all along. When replaying side missions, you take everything with you – weapons, armor, life bars, moves/abilities. It works exactly the same as when the DLC takes you back.

Since the ability to replay all story missions was originally in the game and we still have the ability to replay side missions, I have no doubt that the DLC used this same code for save files on/after Sequence 14.

It was already in the game? Why on earth wasn't it implemented then? It seems really bizarre.

Thanks to SBIzokronus for the fantastic sig!

Patrice said in a post-release interview that they simply didn't have the time to do quality testing and bug fixing on the story replay feature before the game's release.

I'm confident that replay will be included in tomorrow's DLC release. Either way, I fully expect the PC version to have it.

What happens if it's not included in the DLC release? Will it be available in a patch, perhaps?

Unlikely, in my opinion. I imagine now that the final DLC is out, all future focus will be on Episodes to make its holiday release.

The reason I suspect that the PC version might still have the replay is that the code is already there and only requires QA. QA is being done for the entirety of the PC version anyway and it had plenty of extra time, so I imagine it would be included. It's not like the original AC2 team is required to put the feature in; the PC team could simply flag the story missions as replayable if they got the testing done.

The PC will definitely have the replay ability. If you scroll down right to the bottom of the main AC2 website it says saved games will be synchronised online.

That doesn't mean replay. That means that your save file is stored online, not locally. That's actually worse. That's how Grand Theft Auto IV works on the PC as well, though at least that game has an offline version as well.

Some people are inferring that your savegames are only stored online - that's not the case. You can set the Ubisoft Game Launcher not to upload your saves, and even if you permit it, it seems the saves are made locally first and then uploaded when you exit the game. Whichever setting you choose, you still need to be online to launch or play the game.

I just hope that save files aren't required to be authenticated server-side prior to loading. I've seen games do this before. That could potentially destroy any possibility of making backup saves for replays.
