So, I finished the game, and am now catching up on leftovers. I tried assassinating some guards from horseback with the hidden blade. Twice in one day, I leap off the horse, and instead of assassinating, I start rising in the air, like I'm levitating upwards. After about five minutes, I'm high in the sky, looking down on the entire city of Rome.
If I look up, I can actually see myself floating above.
It happened twice in one day i had to restart the game both times.
Wow, never really heard of it. Have you been able to replicate the glitch? Does it happen in an exact place?
I happened to come across a video of this glitch yesterday:
I have a video as well recording this. I'll upload it now.
Thanks both for the video Stab and Joey. I'm curious about this, are you able to control your flying direction or speed?
Maybe it can be exploited for assassination purposes like the airwalk glitch.
I tried moving, assassinating, using other weapons, tackling, etc. The only things you can do is use eagle vision and rotate the camera.

This seems to be a random glitch so it wouldn't be reliable and even if it was there's not much to do with it. But who knows, there are probably other things in the game that can be manipulated to exploit the game *cough cough*.
You have no control over it when it happens, and you can't break out of it. I could look at the map and see where I was. I think it was just west of the Castra Praetoria both times.
I could use Eagle Vision and look around, but mostly I just kept ascending until I could see beyond the map.
