when you start the assassination mission for marco barabrigo, teodora explains that you cant reach the boat without being spotted, and that a better way would be to shoot marco in time with the explosions so that you remain undetected. i suspect this is a lie from ubi. we already know that you can easily swim to the boat:
http://www.thehiddenblade.com/marco-barbarigo-assassination-variety-pack
and i suspect that we cannot shoot marco without being detected by guards. just be clear - its obvious that killing all of the guards at carnivale and then shooting marco would mean you stay undetected. what im talking about is shooting marco in a fashion that would ordinarily invoke a response from guards, but it fails to do so due to timing the shot with the explosions. has anyone managed to shoot marco this way and return from the memory corridor anonymous (white border around the minimap)? i havent.
Yeah, it's clearly a lie from Ubi. They want you to become detected so that you have to escape from the party. The only way to shoot him Anonymously is by using The Sniper (thanks for that BTW). And he has no vision so you can just force him to take a bath or stab him in the left lung.
even in The Sniper (either Part 1 or 2), you return Unseen (yellow border around minimap). in my experience, it appears that guards are actually scripted to respond to the gunshot regardless of whether they would ordinarily be able to hear it.
Probably. Kind of like in the same way how Marco "detects" you only if another guard detects you. It's not a matter of whether or not he can see you, he's just following programming from the guard AI.
How do guards "see" Ezio? Does the game have the position of Ezio and the guards have an area marked, where if Ezios coordinates are in this area, then the guards "see" him?
generally speaking, ezio has to be in front of the guard and in line of sight within a certain radius. this is a crude answer tho. how much detail are you looking for?
I remember sniping him from a pack of courtesans in my first playthrough and getting bull rushed by a wave of guards. Maybe Ubi was planning on adding a silencer to the gun but ran out of time. That really would have helped.
I think that'd make the gun overpowered. Hidden Blade kills (ie - anonymous kills) from rooftops away? Far to easy.
it seems a ridiculous way to design a mission, but i suspect that ubi came up with the mechanics of the level, and then added some dialog to convince you to shoot. "youd be spotted right away" was supposed to convince you not to swim to the boat, but that still wouldnt lead you to shoot the gun, as the gun would attract a lot more attention than swimming to the boat. so they lied again, saying that you can time the shot to the explosions to remain undetected. nevermind that the mechanics of the level will pretty much ensure the opposite. im used to some degree of inaccuracy in the "advice" given to you in the game (eg, missing scholars for fake robert), but this case is extreme. ubi made teodora a real bitch.
Did you read her profile? Why the hell did we listen to her in the first place!
Yeah, you probably should never trust hookers.
Just saying, y'know...
Maybe Ubi was planning on adding a silencer to the gun but ran out of time. That really would have helped.
HAHAHAH! This made me laugh so hard. I don't know why. It just seemed so random and like.. yeah. A silencer? In like... renaissance Italy? They didn't even have like.. regular pistols back then.. the Hidden Pistol was one of the first ones, I think.
FLAE's awesome, I will remember him every time I make a kill in an FPS and have a silencer equipped.
I don't think he was kidding...
The hidden gun wasn't the first gun, because when looking at the codex page, he says that it looks like a gun.
He also says at one point "Our friends to the east have already experimented with gun powder," so if they had started making gun mods (I would have liked to have the heartbeat sensor personally), I would not have been surprised.
Ok, NOW he's joking If we're going to have electronics, why not a digital scope?
Or a gun with a built in digital ammo counter and directonal compass? Creating the hidden assault rifle.
SAY HELLO TO MAH LIL FRIEND BORGIA, FUCK YOU AND YOUR GOLDEN STAFF!!!
hahaha i just imagined what it would have looked like to use the bfg9000 in the chapel XD
hahaha i just imagined what it would have looked like to use the bfg9000 in the chapel XD
Especially with the strafe trick.
I would go the route of the predator missile, personally
I think Saddam must have been an assassin then. As he had a hidden WMD. Several in fact....
I do not like bombs that go BLAM. Saddam, I am.
I've heard that quote from somewhere, and it keeps getting in my head right before going to bed.
It would be pretty sick to have a GunZ: The Duel style battle with Rodrigo and Ezio both Butterflying and K-Styling/Glitching all through the chapel LOL.
Also, I was looking up GIotto's Campanile (tallest viewpoint in the game or something) for a project for school (friend and me both beat AC2, we're like "SIR, WE PICK THE RENAISSANCE!") and it said something like "When the builder died in the year 1337"
That's such an pwnage and l33t way to die.. unbelievable.
Here's the link:
I don't think this was the tallest building, but I could be wrong. This is just the building you need to scale to get one of the achievements.
Anyway, you may want to know, but his death anniversary was yesterday Giotto di Bondone, the builder, died on January 8, 1337.
I don't think this was the tallest building, but I could be wrong.
The Piggyback guide (official game guide) says this on Page 142:
High Dive: Perform a Leap of Faith from the top of Giotto's Campanile, the large tower that stands next to Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence. This is actually the highest building in Assassin's Creed II.
If you don't believe it, this game gives you a way to measure heights: Place Ezio at the foot of the building, perhaps in the hay stack. Bring up the in-game map and place your user marker on Ezio. Climb to the top of the building. Look at the distance meter next to your mini-map. That will be the height of the building (in meters).
The AC1 distance meter didn't take elevation into account. I prefer the AC2 version because it can tell you if you're on the wrong floor of the Villa, for example.
Ah, thanks stab, then a video on youtube got it wrong. Can never trust these darn interwebs
The Piggyback guide could be wrong, SB. It wouldn't be the first time. I haven't confirmed building heights and don't even know what other towers are candidates for highest in the game (Campanile di San Marco?) If someone on YouTube claims that another tower is taller, you have the tools to verify that claim.
