I'm on my own to celebrate Independence Day today. My roommate is off with his family, and the rest of my family is on vacation out of the country.

I have chicken marinating in the fridge for dinner tonight and I have to go get some groceries, but I really don't have any plans for the day. If I was at home, I would go to the local airport (it's a tiny little thing) to watch an airshow followed by fireworks.

Sounds decent enough. I wish we celebrated St. George's Day more here (basically a day off school). The biggest celebration is St. Patrick's Day, I guess, so I like my name Laughing out loud

I (and my family) went to visit my Dad, about a hour away, and we went out to an Indian restaurant for dinner. Most of us in my family will have Indian food at the drop of a hat. We were going to go out to see some fireworks, but we were enjoying sitting around yakking so we did that instead.

A typical sort of celebration here in the U.S. would be to attend a parade in the morning, have a barbecue meal in the afternoon, then go out to watch some fireworks in the evening.

I usually either go downtown and watch the Indianapolis fireworks (the city I'm in for any of you that don't know) or party with some friends, but this year, I actually stayed in and chilled out.

Loud for a whole week before the friggin' holiday. But not so much on the day, since my stupid neighbors ran out of fireworks before it could happen. Mwahahahaha

I actually introduced my daughter to fireworks, which happened to be some sparklers. FYI, don't try to light fireworks with a plastic cigarette lighter. I never would have thought I would burn my hand lighting sparklers.
