MA edition. I was the first in the STATE to get MA edition.
The figure isn't quite as nice as I was expecting, but I still don't regret getting the MA edition.
I just wish the box wasn't a collectable tin. I don't have any space to store such a large thing, yet I don't have the heart to throw away a collectable.
I arrived at the local GameStop at opening time (on the morning of November 17) where a small group was waiting for the doors to open. At the front of the line was a man in a motorized wheelchair. Just as the employee unlocked the doors from the inside, another man came from the parking lot and cut to the front of the line. That wasn't the worst of it: he then pulled the door open and muscled in front of the wheelchair.
At that moment, common sense kicked in and he held the door open for the wheelchair. It turns out he was another GameStop employee arriving for work. These guys just wear street clothes so they blend in with the customers.
that could have gotten real ugly if anyone was of the easily offended type.
did you ever yell "I am the great and powerful Stabguy, bow down before me"?
So I left last night at about 9:30 to go get ACII at the Chicago Gamestop and, low and behold, the line was a good 2 blocks long. I waited in line for about an hour before I finally got in the store and it took me about 5 minutes to get the MA edition. Was the wait worth it? Absolutely. I haven't even played the game yet and I know it was worth it. Especially because of these two memorable moments when I got in the store.
1. I was about three steps into the store when the guy at the front of the line said, "Hi, I'm here to pick up Madagascar Cartz? Everyone laughed, including me."
2. I kind of expected this to happen. One of the people there wasn't Seventeen and he began throwing a fit because he had waited an hour in line for the game and claimed that he didn't have his license because he walked to Gamestop. After about 5 minutes of protest one of the people in front of me blurted out "Don't feel sad! You can still buy Lego Rock Band!" I don't think I've ever laughed so hard, and the look of anguish on the kid's face was priceless.
You guys got to have a bit of fun on launch day.
I waited until launch to get the PS3 version. I went to the Wal-Mart across the street after I got off work at midnight and there were only about five people there. One got AC2 for 360, one got it for PS3, two got Left4Dead 2 and one got Star Trek on Blu-Ray. Not much excitement there.
I myself picked up Star Trek on Blu-Ray, AC2 for PS3 and an Arcade Xbox 360 bundle. The clerk looked puzzled and said, "Are you sure you didn't want the 360 version of the game?" I just smiled and shook my head 'no'.
The local Gamestop only had 2 black editions for 360 (didn't let anyone preorder it because they didn't know how many they'd get), and OFCOURSE I end up third in line, and ofcourse the two people before me both bought themselves black editions. Gah! I had to settle with the white edition since it was gamestop i got a total of 2 bonus maps. The figurine is actually quite nice
And so far, the game is pretty amazing (5-6 hours in and I've just arrived at Monteriggioni).
Well I show up at my local Wal-Mart at 8 in the morning and low and behold! Noone even in the electronics department! Sometimes small towns are nice
I'm posting again here in a month, hopefully with a good story on the purchase of ACIII at my local GameStop. Maybe I'll try some of the Real-Life assassin techniques someone posted about long ago:
Pray-walk to the counter, all the while gently pushing people out of my way
Throw some money down to distract other buyers momentarily
Smoke the place out, pickpocket the game from the shelf and perform a leap of faith from the rooftop.
hahaha! I might just skip the last one.
You BETTER skip that last one!
I'll let you know Lisa!
