For their 30th anniversary, Ubisoft is offering free downloads of seven PC games:
You need a uPlay account and uPlay for PC. There's a glitch where the website freezes up if you click "GET THE GAME NOW" and then enter your uPlay username/password. If this happens to you, click the link shown above again. The website works better if you login to uPlay and then download.
This month's game is Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Check back each month through December for additional titles.
that sounds like a great idea, i'd love to see some of the old classics.

on second thought, i'm gonna pass
I won't say no to free games. Thanks for the heads up, stabguy!
Great, thanks! Will wait for July's game then as I have this one

There's one other thing you need: a graphics card.
Because I do all of my rendering in software, my PC's have the lamest graphics hardware on the market. In this case my "Intel HD Graphics" on the same die as the CPU is insufficient to play a 13 year old game.
Heads up: July's game is Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell.
Update: August's game is Rayman Origins
September's game is The Crew!
Barely 2 years old, but deemed a 'Ubisoft classic' anyway. I'm not complaining though. It's been a while since I played a racing game.
October's game is Beyond Good & Evil.
November: Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon
November: Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon
That was also one of the Games With Gold for November.
My five year old desktop computer was dying a slow death, so I picked up a $1,150 Dell for $599 on Black Friday. It came with a respectable AMD Radeon R9 graphics card. Now I can finally check out some of these PC games.

That's such a good deal

How many other computer geeks did you have to trample to get to it?
That's such a good deal
After deciding on target specs for the new computer, here was my best trick to finding a good deal:
I went to Ben's Bargains and searched for "Desktops".
On Thanksgiving they had a coupon code for the computer I wanted at dell.com for $599 with free shipping. The code was good through Saturday or until 800 people had used it. For comparison, a similar Dell computer was normally $1000 at Costco and was marked down to $799 for Black Friday.
If you're Christmas shopping online, be sure to check out Ben's Bargains and also Brad's Deals.

Another resource is bfads.net. They are an aggregator of adscans and other advertised deals. Probably not as good as the above though.
Final game in this list: Assassin's Creed 3!
Everyone here probably already owned that, but still. If you wanted to play it on PC as well, here's your chance to pick it up for free.
Nice sig, gerund.
T'is the season.
I made that back in May, believe it or not. Can you tell that I used MS Paint? Can you tell??
Sure looks pixelated enough. Paint is all I use for picture editing since I'm so used to it. Tried using Gimp, but could not understand how the tools worked.
try paint.NET ... it was my photoshop before i got access to photoshop... http://www.getpaint.net/index.html
