I'm pleased to announce that our featured member for April is Slembroccoli. In the year that he has been a member his infrequent posts have been insightful and well reasoned. When Slembroccoli has something to say, I take notice. He has only posted two videos as separate topics, one of which was front-paged (try to guess before reading "AC accomplishment" below). Before doing this interview I really didn't know much about Slembroccoli, other than he doesn't check his messages.
Tell me about the first time you played AC.
I saw a friend of mine play ACII while we were at a LAN. As soon as I saw the white robed man climb a tower hundreds of meters above ground in San Gimignano, I knew that I wanted to do the same.
Unfortunately, I didn't start off with the first game, as my friends told me it wasn't any good. I can see now in the aftermath, that I was wrong.
I spent hours figuring out what to do as Ezio in Florence, so I decided to spend my time with robbing people. LMAO!
What do you like most about the games?
The fact that you can do whatever you like.
When I have spare time, I just run around in the cities, trying to avoid conflict. And you always notice new details in the cities while wandering around, which I find very nice.
Of course the story is also very good; it's like a mix of all religions mixed together in an exciting conspiracy theory.
What AC accomplishment are you most proud of?
Climbing the Castel Sant' Angelo while hyperblended.
What is your favorite quote from the games?
Bartolomeo - "Pantasilea! Pantasilea!? Where are you?"
Ezio - "Did you look behind the table?"
What would you like to change about AC?
Give the missions more ways of becoming completed. Not only would this increase replay value, but also give the player a feeling of control. Now the games are becoming more and more of a movie, which is a step in the wrong direction. Even without the games they have a number of short movies based around the same story.
Which Assassin's Creed game is your favorite? Why?
Assassin's Creed.
Just the atmospere in the first game is something the other games lack. I can't describe everything about it, but the important things are:
- You follow the creed. (Ezio just stumbles around killstreaking people.)
- Altaïr feels like an outsider (maybe because of his accent, lol). Ezio fits in perfectly with other people.
- The game is more mysterious. You don't know what the POE is yet.
- The story grows as you play the other games. On the other hand, if it weren't for ACII, I would probably have chosen ACII over ACI. (The codex pages, etc.) Gameception, lol.
You have to play it to understand.
Who is your favorite Assassin's Creed character (main or secondary)?
Leonardo. I always get so happy everytime I see him; he does nothing to make you dislike him.
Are there any philosophical aspects of the game that intrigue you?
That the "religion" is mixed up between many of the big world religions. Personally, I am not religious, but there is something in the AC philosophy that really speaks to me.
When you're not playing Assassin's Creed, what other games or activities do you enjoy?
I play guitar and sing in a band. We have some concerts every now and then.
Also I go to school...
Is there anything else you'd like to add or promote?
Play ACI before you judge it. It ROCKS!
What question would you like me to ask the next featured member?
If Abstergo was real, what company would it be? Motivate!
And here is a question from the last featured member, ROB_88:
If there was a crossover with any other story, what would you choose?
Portal. I would love to find out more about the old Aperture factory. Also it would justify Desmond actually infiltrating ridiculously surveilled Abstergo buildings.
Thanks guys!
I will consult my band on if they want to make a song. Or not. But let's hope for the best!
And @Double McStab with Cheese: I lol'd at your word puns
Congratulations Slem! It's nice to find out a bit more a bout you.
Slem, your band should give THB a theme song.
This probably isn't the place to post this, but I just finished reading all the MOTM stories. It's a cool thing that now I can instantly peg a few of the personalities on this forum. As we learned through the many info gathering missions in AC1, we must know our surroundings to be successful.
And all this time I thought Stabguy told him to check his messages because he was in trouble.
Slem, your band should give THB a theme song.
Hmm...
I just finished reading all the MOTM stories.
Yeah, the featured members make up nearly all of the frequent users. Now when will the site owners get featured? And since when was Member Of The Month abbreviated to MOTM? How about BAMF, you know, Bad A** Member who was Featured?
next april's featured member is ....
I was hoping it would be Subject 18.5, he did make things fun.
Why not remove the 'T', since 'the' is such a small word anyway? Then we'd have a MOM.
Sorry. Saw someone else refer to it as MOTM, and followed suit. Just trying to blend in.
According to several posts here, we already have a MOM.
Also, BAMF would be fine, as long as no one confused it with Babes Await My Flap-a-doodle.
I'm pretty sure Babes Await My Flap-a-doodle is permanently engraved on everyone's eyelids.
Thanks for doing this, Slem. Extremely interesting comments.
LOLing madly at Altair being an outsider because of his accent. "What's with this American here? I don't get it...."
And an AC/Portal crossover? Most perfect idea EVAR!
I KNEW IT
As soon as stab posted the notice in the AC3 section I was like: Yep, Slem's going to be MOTM.
Nice interview.
