I picked it up, trying to get all the achievements. Playing the games again has re-ignited my old love of AC, though I concede it isn't much of a remaster.

Thanks to SBIzokronus for the fantastic sig!

I'm playing it. Here's my highlight reel of my AC2 playthrough.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oGoAaiup5Y

I only have three Trophies to go in AC2: Get all feathers, wear the Auditore cape in each city, solve all the Truth puzzles. Then it's onto Brotherhood for me, with those glorious, glorious replayable missions and the kickass VR Training~! I can finally make videos on the Golden Age of Assassin's Creed! Laughing out loud Granted, yes, most of the video potential has been mined out of those games by Ian, Stabguy, Aurel and a few others (MaceoniK in particular has done a LOT of what I'm looking at) but still~! I'm excited.

AC2 is still a great game and I still love it. It felt like coming home.

I think this is a good excuse to "remaster" classic videos. A lot of AC1 and AC2 content wasn't HD and I'm sure some members that get the Ezio Collection (still praying for an AC1 remaster) can add a new twist to what was done before.

Basically I'm planning on re-doing my Ghost in the Palazzo video.

Ah yes. Classic Assassin's Creed. Like at 1:15 and 4:00. Love the Musician seeing you fall on you head and instantly thinking the best medicine would be to play in your face.

Also, the glitch at 3:20 reminded me of this classic.

Ordered.

I went to record an AC2 video and found that my game disc had become damaged in storage. It's not scratched but rather has some humidity damage around the edge. It was a good excuse to upgrade the Ezio trilogy to Xbox One. The video will look better too.

I've read that The Ezio Collection comes with all of the single player DLC (Battle of Forlì, Bonfire of the Vanities, etc.) but you have to rebuy things like the Altaïr skin. I have 660 Uplay points. That should be enough. Wink

Yeah, plus the game gives you a buttload of Uplay points just from playing it anyway xD

I've been thinking of getting this at some point, but haven't gotten around to it.

Even if I wasn't a very big fan of ACR, I still enjoyed running around all of Ezio's cities. It was my therapy back in the day.

Help! The inability to replay AC2 memories is even worse on the Xbox One because our "back up the savegame" trick doesn't work. It's okay if my Xbox 360 savegames don't transfer over. I don't mind playing through AC2 one more time on the Xbox One. To make decent videos, though, I need to be able to replay those memories without starting another playthrough.

In addition to USB thumb drives, I have a 1TB 2TB external hard drive for the Xbox One. If we can get saves onto that drive and it's readable/writable as an external PC drive, that would solve the problem. I've heard that savegames are automatically backed up to the cloud. Another longshot possibility would be to access that cloud from a PC to download and upload savegame files.

Has somebody figured out how to do this yet?

Three possibilities to explore:

  1. If you have Xbox LIVE Gold, the Xbox 360 can transfer save games to and from the cloud. This is exactly the same cloud accessed automatically by the Xbox One. Gamers have traditionally used this feature to migrate from 360 to One but I want to go both ways! You can upload saves from the Xbox One and download them to the Xbox 360. From there they may be transferred to a PC via flash drive.
  2. By design the Xbox One manages two copies of each save game: one on the internal drive and an automatic backup on the cloud. You can make the most of a playthrough by strategically disconnecting and reconnecting to Xbox LIVE. Say that you want to replay S1M1 through S1M2 several times. Start S1M1 and then disconnect from Xbox LIVE. Now play through S1M2 while offline. The next time you connect it will prompt you to select a game save, the new one on the drive or the old one on the cloud. If you need another take, choose the old one. This solution is clunky because it never provides random access to any Sequence in AC2.
  3. This app allows you to take an external drive which has been formatted for Xbox One and mount it for read/write on a Windows PC. That's a major accomplishment considering Microsoft intended Xbox One formatted drives to be non-transferable. The author acknowledges that putting the save game on the external drive remains an unsolved problem.

Can you configure a flash drive to store Xbox One files like for the 360? If so, you can back up the save files on the flash dive and hope there's a program that will allow you to transfer them onto a computer, like what I do with my Xbox 360 saves. Or just get one flash drive for every save file.

It's not at all like the 360. Flash drives must be at least 4GB and formatted with NTFS. Even then they are only able to store media or offline update/repair files. In order to store games and apps, external drives must be 256GB+, USB 3.0, and in the proprietary Xbox One format.

If so, you can back up the save files on the flash dive

That's the other thing. They took away the ability to manually copy game saves. All you can do is:
1. delete the save on the internal drive; or
2. delete both it and the backup in the cloud

It has been said that Microsoft took these measures to curb "game modding". I don't consider what we at The Hidden Blade do with game saves to be cheating. We use them to replay memories, something which should be implemented in the games themselves.

One more idea, a little further outside the box... I know that the XBox One allows Game Modding. At this point it might be easier to find someone that can create a mod that allows for replayability. Maybe reach out to the X-bone modding community and see if anyone there would know how to do it. Maybe do it yourself.

That sounds good. On weekends I'll be available for that about any time, and on weekdays after 12:00 AM EST.

Playing through Brotherhood helps me remember why I hated the single player so much. Every mission is so damn restrained. Get seen once and you restart the mission. And going from AC2 to ACB within a day, I notice many controller problems. Brotherhood's is much stiffer to handle whereas AC2 is a lot smoother and responsive.

I might switch back to AC2 on Saturday afternoon if I have time. I was having a blast before skipping ahead to its sequel.
