I was thinking of a different way to play ACII, ACB, and AC3 in a unique way like Eagle's Bruise or the Minimal Kill Competition. I was playing ACII earlier and switched to Altair's robes from Uplay. I realized how odd it was seeing Altair swim and climb buildings with ridiculous speed.

This got me thinking of a new play style. When playing through each AC game, you have to do only what Altair is able to do in AC1. This means:

1. No swimming
2. No fast climbing
3. No climb-jump
4. No poison
5. No hidden gun
6. No armor
7. No ninja-running on thin beams/rope
8. etc

There are moments that you have to do specific things in order to progress through the game, so it would be allowed during those moments. EX: Shooting the dummies with the hidden gun.

Even though Ezio has two blades, you're allowed to use them both. It's very easy to double-kill in the middle of a group.

I think you all get the idea. Big smile

Interesting idea Smile you should begin playing like this and tell us all how much harder/more interesting it is to play as Altair. I think for AC:B it will be pretty difficult though.

I've tried it in little increments, but since it wasn't a dedicated challenge I was shooting for, I didn't do it very long.

Could be called a Savonarola run, because Savonarola wanted people to go back to their old ways, and this is going back to the ways of Altair.

I think it will be more of an inconvenience than a challenge. Its like people who play GTA realistically by stopping at the lights and such, its just boring.

My new games though always have me never buying armor or weapons, never getting codex pages till the end, never collecting money from the villa etc

It's not an inconvenience if you still play AC1. It's more of a mental competition, as you're too used to going the easy way by using all the fresh new gadgets and abilities to make you the ultimate killer. If you're truly an expert Assassin, you won't need anything but your hidden blade. Wink

Slower climbing would be like stopping at stop lights in GTA but no poison/no hidden gun are more self control things.

I was mainly thinking of the tower climbing and swimming when I thought of that. You dont need to be an assassin expert to be able to handle slow climbing, or not using the catch ledge ability early.

Well, of course you can use the catch ledge ability. Basically, everything Altair can do at the end of AC1, you can do all throughout AC2/ACB. I don't see why this should be griped about, as it's just another challenge. Try it out, guys. You'll see. Big smile

This gameplay style could work well as a personal challenge but could also fall down in the fact that ACII is specifically designed for Ezio and use of the climb-leap ability etc. In that aspect it would just become annoying and boring. Still, cool idea though.

I'd love to try a no-swimming game. Not just because it would make Venice a whole lot more challenging, but also because I've always been bothered with how casually Ezio can jump in and out of water without anyone even looking at him all that strangely. With all that heavy gear on, he should be dripping wet for a long time afterward, and everyone, particularly guards, should be staring at him.

Good point. It should be a lot harder for him to swim than it is in the game. It would be cool if there was a water-based equivalent of the agile guard who could catch up with you in water and try to drown you Tongue It would probably be a bit complicated though.

It's also a bit annoying how you can just jump into water and escape a huge group of guards within about 10 metres. Not only can they not follow you in, but they have the inability to see a person in water over 10 metres away. You just become invisible Stare
